  1. Yes, but that isn't a YC benefit it's for those with Voyager Diamond status. We don't miss that particular 'perk' TBH.
  2. I might be wrong, but am 'almost certain' you have mentioned this previously.....! 😵
  3. Not if your parents are Italy lovers! 🤨 If the Italy aspect is about the ship, then perhaps it's a good choice. The Western Caribbean, for us at any rate, is totally unattractive. We much prefer Eastern/Southern Caribbean ports. As parents of a family group of nine, with our adult kids and grandkids we did a family trip earlier this year (albeit Yacht Club) and it was amazing just to all be together! TBH the ship was secondary to being together as a family, but the itinerary in our case was important to us.
  4. Buffet is similar to RCL and other mass cruiselines. Complimentary shows each evening, normally at 3 different times per night. The MSC dress code is Smart Casual for all evenings, and Gala Nights are simply an opportunity for those who wish to dress up in a more 'formal' manner to do so. It will not affect entry to MDR, or any other area on the ship.

  6. Why should Canadians (and USA residents, for that matter) be treated differently from any other Nationality??
  7. Assuming you booked your flights, hotels etc. independently then MSC have no liability whatsoever for such costs. With regard to ship change, and your other costs, the T&C PDF is your friend!😉
  8. Whilst I agree there are no 'lower' class ships, it is totally untrue to say all offer the same experience(s). Many of the older ship do not have the Yacht Club experience! 😉
  9. OBC is what it says on the tin.....On Board Credit! 😉
  10. Excellent, just ensure you have that email to hand onboard! TBH, we have never understood why (as many claim to have experienced) it would be an issue and hopefully what the Corporate Office have outlined in their email will indeed come to pass.
  11. Yes, YC elevators traverse all of the decks within the YC enclave. 😉
  12. Absolutely yes, and I agree with all that Connie Tact has written in reply! Our first YC was inside, the following 5 YCs have been Deluxe Suite....but only because pricing was attractive enough. Now that prices are rising significantly, and budgets seriously stretched on energy costs etc., our next two YC bookings are inside....and we return without hesitation. A couple of tips: Divest of the little table and chair, gives much more floor space....your assistant butler will remove them upon request. If you can live without the in-cabin coffee machine, get them to remove it along with the associated service tray etc. Frees up space, enabling it to be used for placing more important stuff. Remember you can have coffee delivered in-cabin, so even if you need coffee there's another way! Enjoy, we certainly did. The YC enclave is amazing and in essence becomes your 'cabin space'.
  13. i am following your posts, but hadn't quite picked up it was the Balmoral you'd missed out on. Today, my DW had a call from her bridesmaid who had been due to sail same cruise with Fred and this was the first we knew of cancellation. She was not in any position to book another cruise at short notice, so is sulking at home! Anyway, main reason for posting is we have sailed MSC YC numerous times, and sailed once only with Fred on Balmoral about 5 years ago. We did it because it was a winter Nov/Dec Christmas markets cruise on the near reaches of the Seine etc. and our son lives 25 miles from the embarking port at Southampton. It was a tub then, so not sure if you've sailed on it before, and worlds apart from MSC YC. That said we enjoyed our 5 night cruise, mainly because the itinerary was attractive to us. TBH, the only thing we enjoyed on the ship was the MDR which was very good and the excellent afternoon teas and service in the forward Observation Lounge. Great to follow your YC experience, and delighted your expectations are being met thus far.
  14. 🤔 I can only assume my attempt at humour bypassed you on this occasion!
  15. In your country of birth, and Scotland, this is commonly known as a bribe! 🤣🤣
  16. Indeed they are, but accessible cabins are always significantly larger.
  17. Given that it seems 2.5% overall are accessible, on the basis the newer ship YCs have about 125 cabins that would equate to only 3 such cabins in YC. Still doesn't feel right to me, but if 2.5% is all they provide across all accommodations then to have 5 in the Seashore (and its sisters presumably) is above average....but still not good! You've given me reason for thought in this regard, so on our next YC cruises I will be asking the on board YC Director how we can make representation to MSC Corporation for future builds to have a higher proportion. Thanks.
  18. Based on those particular aspects you list, no!
  19. That's shocking, especially in this day and age. Had no idea that was the case!
  20. That's normal on a summer season Saturday. We have family in Hampshire, and sailed from Southampton often. Bon Voyage, and lang may yer lum reek.
  21. It depends, everything is relative.....in Scotland a warm, very pleasant, sunny summer day would typically be low to mid 70sF with a light breeze....in Texas that may be considered to be brisk and cool....
  22. Yes, that's exactly what I find, so we do intend availing ourselves of said perk!
  23. We had all of that on a 6 night cruise pre-Covid, in the Med.
  24. We have a cruise booked, 7 nights from Barcelona later this month on Grandiosa. We noticed a one night cruise from Palma, Mallorca, to Barcelona the previous day on Meraviglia. Having often been in Barcelona, we decided to book this one nighter to facilitate a few days in Palma pre-cruise and then use the one night cruise as a 'ferry' to Barcelona. My question is, as Diamond status are we still entitled to the free specialty meal on a one night cruise? Despite sailing MSC probably 7 or 8 times now, we have never done a one nighter!
