A ban for life? Is that all?  Support the DEATH penalty?...that is the next step, you know.  WTH happened to due process and laws?  Or innocent until proven guilty?  I don't get it... your vax protects you doesn't it?  According to..Fauci!

Don't want unvaxed on your precious vacation, then get the laws changed accordingly. But, the mob mentality throw them overboard is ridiculous.  The darn thing is supposed to protect YOU!  What are you so afraid of?!  Dying yourself?  We all get there eventually.... where you go after death...is that the real fear?

The thing is, if you have numerous people on board unvaccinated, we all run the risk of our cruise being cancelled and being returned to port immediately.  So thousands of people should have to pay the price because a few dozen yahoos decide they wanted to fake their way on board and get sick from Covid.  Yeah, people who are vaccinated are mostly protected, but it seems we now need to be protected for cheats.

Would ban for life be as meaningful as a very high fine and possibly criminal charges?  A ban for life is not very meaningful if you were on your first cruise or are not a frequent cruiser.  Of course a ban for life for the few percent of cruisers that are Cruise Critic members would be quite a penalty.  But the majority of cruise passengers are not CC members and are not frequent cruisers.  So I am more in favor of very stiff financial penalties if caught.

When taking an Alaska cruise, it would make more sense to fly to Alaska and sail there.  There are several good ports  to visit. No need to sail back and forth from Seattle. On my most recent Alaska cruise in 2019, we sail from Vancouver to Seattle and then to Alaska.  While Seattle and Vancouver are both interesting cities, more time in Alaska would’ve been better.

It's a hell of a lot more expensive to fly into Alaskan cities not called Anchorage though. While one can fly into, say, Juneau or Fairbanks, Alaska exclusively would not work for a great many people.  For me, going through O'Hare, you'd be doubling the cost of the airfare.

wanting to sail The Alaska Cruises!

🌺I am booked on Ruby for Panama Cruise from FLL to San Francisco! 3/12/22!! Doing Oceania prior doing  the Carribean

and following HAL SFO to Australia. So far Princess has a nice board.

I'll be getting off the ship as you get on.  I'll try to leave it in the same condition when I exit as when I board.  😉

I only cruised out of Seattle once and it can't compare to those in and out of Vancouver.  I don't see much difference in hotel prices either....

Looking forward to the next RT from Vancouver 😀

I've sailed out of Seattle twice.  First time I stayed at Inn at the Market and paid a pretty penny for it, but well worth it. Second time I booked through AirBNB and it was a third of the overall cost, even though we stayed 5 nights as opposed to 2 the previous time.

    I do love Seattle though....

Do the math. Actually over 165 million have been vaccinated. The case rate translates into .07%, well below the POTENTIAL rate of 5%. Therefore, the vaccines are doing better than expected.

165 million have at least one shot, 117 million are fully vaccinated.  There is a bit of a difference.  Oh, and by "fully vaccinated" that means at least 2 weeks since you had your second dose (or only dose of J&J).

I may be mistaken, but it seems to me that every time I have cruised (10 or so, all on Celebrity) I have been asked about any current symptoms for respiratory or norovirus type ailments.  I believe I even had to sign some kind of attestation.  Am I misremembering this?

You are remembering correctly.  I've actually seen people denied boarding because one of their party was noticeably sick.

More good news from the CDC last night.

The CDC outlined what type of tests are required for fully and unvaccinated passengers.

Fully vaccinated passengers do not need to be tested on embarkation day, disembarkation day, or even going on a back to back sailing. While embarkation testing is not required, international travelers arriving in the U.S. are recommended to be tested 3-5 days after arrival, including those who are fully vaccinated. Cruise operators may follow this recommendation at their discretion.

Those that are not vaccinated, will need to take a Viral (NAAT or antigen) test for embarkation day, disembarkation day, and if doing a back to back.

All the more reason to be vaccinated if you want to cruise!  If you're vaccinated, no chance of a false positive popping up and preventing you from cruising!

Two positive experiences. Good news 🙂

It's something like 3-ish miles in total driving distance form the port to the airport.  So you should be ok if you get off extremely early and have pre-arranged transport.  I went through the cruise line when I did it.
