Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. has day 7 in St. Thomas until 4pm and day 8 in Grand Turk till 8pm with day 9 a sea day. Trying to plan a birthday to coincide with the 2nd formal night. Which day will it be?
  2. Anyone used them recently? Last reviews are quite some time ago. We need a private tour for 8 people start at 9am for 5 hours to Champagne to snorkel, Scotts Head view, some time at Soufriere, Trafalgar Falls, Papilote for lunch. They are asking for a 50% deposit.

  4. Yes the MDR breakfasts were good. The food everywhere was always lukewarm to cool. The pizza looked terrible (the crust? the cheese?) deserts totally lacked, no cookies, O'Sheehans was the saving grace. The scallops at the seafood restaurant I sent back as they were definitely not cooked enough. Maitre de says many patrons say the same, but the chef knows. The lobster at the Bistro was rubbery and yes I know it sounds like I'm a Karen, but living on both coasts of Canada this really was not what I had hoped for. I prefer Carnival's food including their afternoon tea which is terrific, next is Princess.
  5. I am back from my Nola cruise on the Breakaway. I am sick again as usual. Doc says to get the AREXVY vaccine cause this is happening too often. Not Covid but respiratory & antibiotics. Anyway, thanks Greg for your thorough insights into the area. Met my sis from Texas & we had great food, music & sight seeing. I found the ships's food the least favourite of any of the cruise lines I have been on. Everywhere was just noisy and all the venues too small for the number of people. Speaking of which, Greg how do you find out the number of PAX on a ship? Everyone I ask just says full. Also when we sailed away 45 minutes late after the pilot boat had been waiting, how do you find out if the person they'd been calling for an hour showed up or not? Inquiring minds want to know!
  6. Thanks Again mitsugirly, We just returned from Sky Reef Beach Club in Cozumel. We got there early, no crowds, some nice fans as well as a good variety of fish. Also Maya Key excursion was a great day. The waves were a bit rough for most to snorkel but the facilities were awesome.Another of your suggestions that went over perfectly!
  7. Thanks for the History Lesson. I of course had heard of the Louisiana Purchase but didn't know the story. The southern most part of Alberta & Saskatchewan were in there.
  8. We were on the Spirit in 2006 and loved it. Lots has probably changed and when I saw she was back I was thinking she was getting too old to consider her again. Apparently all the comments here are proving me wrong. I am looking forward to your thoughts. We leave for Nola on Wed. to sail NCL Breakaway so I will have lots of catching up to do when I get back.
  9. My uncle had one of these, same colour! So cool to watch it go into the lake and then when it was done boating drive back out on to the beach.
  10. Fall 2023, AC let us first off as the plane was a bit late on the arrival time and yes we got to the connection by hustling it, no our luggage didn't.
  11. We also use the RBC Avion Visa (we have a no fee American & Canadian Visa) for every purchase all year and then have enough points to fly for the both of us from the west coast to anywhere in the USA. Then we don't mind spending a few hundred on upgrading the seats! Don't forget to re check hotels, flights, even the cruise for lower pricing. In one hour this past week I saved $150 on the cruise, and another $150 on hotel by doing price checks! We pay in Canadian Funds on the Visa for the cruise & purchase everything else on the USA Visa while away. (get points there as well) Purchase US $'s when the exchange is better & pay the US credit card with those monies rather than at an exchange rate that may be worse.
  12. We have a no fee American & Canadian credit card with Royal Bank. Purchase the cruise in Canadian $'s so we know that cost up front. Everything else is on the American Visa & when we get home we pay it with the US funds we have accumulated throughout the year whenever the exchange rate was looking better. Always bring some US $'s for tips etc. A side note, I have heard that in Martinique they will only give change in Euros and not all tour operators will take an American credit card. Don't have personal experience on this yet.
  13. Never been to Costa Maya but coming up in a couple weeks. Thanks for the info. Did it seem very crowded with 4 ships? The Breakaway and the Wonder of the Sea will be there when we visit. How were drink & food prices?
