  1. I am just giving you our experience. How did it work ? Names on tables ?
  2. Hi Rupert Have you tested yourself in the last couple of days ? Our table companions had similar symptoms immediately after Cadiz, tested on Sunday, negative, yesterday positive. Hope you are better soon.
  3. Good morning. No symptoms yet. Attending a reunion this weekend in Chester so keeping everything crossed.
  4. Lots of cruisers off our Arvia cruise are positive for Covid, including a couple on the next table to us. Feel fine so far, fingers crossed.
  5. I am quite happy to use any technology, as long as I can name a table and time, 1930, which I did with staff last week.
  6. Pleased they enjoyed the cruise. Ships are a personal choice, having cruised on iona four times and Arvia once, we preferred Arvia. Sky Dome with retractable roof, 6th st diner, sushi restaurant and mini golf to name extras we liked.
  7. Onboard Arvia last week it was discounted by 10% and either £1100 OBC or car parking and £850 OBC. Cancelled original booking and rebooked. Very happy. Balcony cabin.
  8. I have just logged on to my cruise on Iona in Jan 25, 35 nights to Caribbean. Alongside the four MDRs it says in red letters No Booking Needed. On my Arvia cruise I have just returned from, they were far more accommodating if you wanted the same table, same time, every night. Anyone else seeing the same ?
  9. Have a lovely cruise. Just returned from ours on Arvia, loved it. The dining room front desk appear to be more flexible with passengers who want the same table. Asked for, and got, a regular slot for 7.30pm on the same table for 2 after liking our table and waiters the first night. The food was better than Iona in January IMO..
  10. They appear to be more accommodating to passengers wanting to keep a table for the duration of the cruise. We went into the MDR, Zenith, on the first night of our Arvia cruise we left today and liked the location and waiters. I saw the restaurant manager and asked him if we could have the same table at 7.30pm each night, he agreed. This was a table for two, close to another two tables and they did the same.
  11. The 10% was a special offer. for cruise over 17 nights. Just got lucky I guess
  12. I wish I knew the answers. I will ask if the 10% discount is across the board or selective cruises, times etc. I will be off air until Sunday, at sea, someone else may know before then.
  13. The price onboard is 10% cheaper than currently advertised on website. £3779 as opposed to £4199, and they want loyalty.
  14. No, Select. We would have had to put the deposit on a dearer cruise so cut our losses.
  15. Yes, it was booked at launch. Never again, they don't value loyalty. I have said many times launch prices should be the cheapest, or if they drop you should get OBC to compensate.
  16. Onboard Arvia and our cruised booked for Iona Jan 25, 35 nights is £800 cheaper and £850 OBC and free car parking ! Even allowing for loss of £420 deposit I am £1200 up. Cancelled cruise and rebooked.
  17. La Spezia, Italy today. Typical Italy, nothing open on a Sunday. Lovely walk along the Prom and back. Weather beautiful, hot and sunny. First week over and very good. Food has improved IMO since Ions in Jan. Don't do food photos, nothing exceptional but good enough. Weather forecast for rest of the cruise is very good, just what we came for.
  18. Catching up with the news. Josy, words are totally inadequate in some situations. Best wishes Bob
  19. Will looking at Iona 35 nights to Caribbean. Paid £4150 pp 25 cruise for select balcony which we chose on launch. Similar grade and location now £4350 so happy. .
  20. An eventful journey on Sunday from Bournemouth to Southampton, floods breakdowns and torrential rain. Got soaked walking from car park to Arvis but onboard within 30 mins, a record for us. A day at sea yesterday, cool but BofB was calm. In Coruna now, drinks on balcony and hot sun. Two sea days before Palma. Love the ship and everything is good, so far. Hope weather improves back home, our forecast is looking very good.
  21. A lovely evening in Bournemouth prior to joining Arvia later for our Med cruise. Stay safe everyone.
  22. I was in a MQ and you either got rent free quarters or a rent allowance. When the regulations were changed allowing all officers to buy a house, rent allowance was stopped for new recruits but serving officers kept it and it was frozen.
  23. Been very lucky with my police pension. Retired at 50, been retired 27 years. We had the best of times with rent allowance, which is long gone.
