I had the extreme misfortune of being an only child. I had 1 grandma and 1 uncle in the town where I grew up, all 6 of my cousins and their families lived at least 100 miles away. Life was very lonesome but I loved the library. It would have been nice to be able to have a wild side.
The meal of the day looked wonderful until I read the recipies and found that all 3 include anchovies so thanks but no thanks. The white wine is something I would very much enjoy.
I have been to Fanning Island, 11 years ago cruising aboard the Rotterdam. While there I watched a lady make a beautiful shell basket which I purchased for $10.00. Still have the basket displayed on an open shelf in my kitchen.
I am praying for all on our prayer list and request that you pray for my only brother-in-law who is having surgery for lung cancer tomorrow. Roy, I am not requesting that he be put on the list as the tunor is small and hopefully this will be a once and done procedure.
Jane
Sending prayers for your BIL.
Jim.

As I mentioned before, we stopped at Portland, England on the Prinsendam's "Irish, Scottish and European River Cruise" on Sept. 13, 2018. What a lovely cruise that was! The skies were clear as we headed off the ship and boarded a bus provided for us to get over to Weymouth. We were dropped off a couple blocks from the small harbor. We passed this nice little restaurant/bar while we walked.
First sight of the harbor which was very scenic. We were told this harbor was used in filming the movie "Dunkirk" which I've never seen.
Behind you when looking at the harbor is this lovely downtown area. Ah, I see a fish and chips restaurant right there.
We noticed a bridge to walk (or drive) across to get to the opposite shore so headed there. Here's a photo I took of a sign showing it raising, not knowing I'd see it raising later as we left.
We headed down this main street, and went in a grocery store to pick up something. Toothpaste? We had been cruising a month and a half already on two cruise lines so I was getting low.
At the end of the main street was the beach!
Looks like saddles on these donkeys. People ride them? Perhaps only children. Good to see the man taking care of their hooves.
A view as we returned back to the bridge.
This area at the harbor was my favorite part of town. You can see the clouds were rolling in.
All of a sudden I could see the drawbridge raising back where we had recently crossed.
We walked back to the bus pick up point for our ride back to Portland and the Prinsendam. Scenery as we neared the ship, photos taken through the bus windows of course so not the best.
And a blurry photo showing the Prinsendam
We drove right by Portland Castle.
When time to leave we were treated to a band and some cannon fire.
The view out my window as we sailed away.
Shortly thereafter these shores with the sun's rays shining on them.
An enjoyable stop on our Prinsendam cruise.
Awsome photos I dont know why I never got to any of these ports when I lived
in England for over 20yrs.
Thank you so much.
Jim.

Good afternoon.
It is currently 50°F and sunny
I had a doctor's appointment this morning and he recommended x-rays of both my painful knees.
Thank you for today's daily and fleet reports Rich.
Interesting days.
Pets should be appreciated every day.
Excellent quote.
Salmon sounds delicious.
I will give the drink and wine a miss.
Portland is not a well known or used port in England.
Prayers 🙏 for everyone who they will help.
I hope everyone has a nice day.
Graham.
Graham hope your xrays turn out good and sending you my prayers.

Good morning all. Prayers for all in need.
I rarely follow the meal suggestions. DH very picky and is not a food adventurer! Twin sister and BIL live across the street and, since the beginning of Covid, we have eaten meals together 3 or 4 times a week. Take out some times, meals from freezer or grilling usually.
We’ll see what Easter brings next weekend. DSIL back in hospital with another stroke. Have not heard latest update. We would like to go visit (about 2 hour trip each way) if possible.
Off to a chilly Palm Sunday service at church. Katherine
Sending prayers for your DISL on this Palm Sunday.

Today is our 34th Anniversary!
I think Mitzi and I would have both forgotten it except for a celebratory text from our son😬. We are still "recovering" (unpacking, doing laundry, scrounging food, going through 3 weeks of mail...) from our NS cruise, so we may delay celebrating for a day or two.
Here are a couple of pictures from the cruise. I will try to post more details later -
Marigot Bay
Soufriere rainbow
Aperol Spritzes
You both look wonderful, enjoy your cruise and stay safe.

It was a beautiful day on Oct. 28, 2014 when the Prinsendam arrived in Marmaris, Turkey. We had just been to Ashdod, Israel two days earlier and spent a long day touring Jerusalem so a nice day spent strolling through this port was just what we needed. Besides, we all wanted Wi-Fi!! Here we are approaching the dock at a marina filled with sailboats.
The town was very clean and we noticed in addition to sailboats there were lots of yachts to admire.
Along the waterfront were a lot of statues, too.
There was a small castle on a hill which we walked up to but no one wanted to pay an admission fee to go inside so we just took a quick glance in the doorway and left.
I have no idea why I am sitting here unless it was just a short rest. And I can't read Turkish!
This looks like a nice place to spend some time shopping.
Along the waterfront were many cafes to stop and have a refreshment.
So on our walk back we stopped at one and sat on a cozy seating area to have a cold drink. I had to crop of photo of us sitting with our travel friends because I don't think they'd want their identity exposed after I just told you that story about them. Lol!
I don't drink beer so I'm not sure what I had to drink that day.
Right across from our table and sofa was this yacht with a place to hide the "toys" inside.
As the Prinsendam left that afternoon, you can see from this photo the top of the castle we walked over to earlier.
It was a nice day in Marmaris. Hope you get to enjoy it someday, too.
Really love your photos.
Jim.

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the daily report and lists. Nice collection of days although I’m reminded of the saying that no good deed goes unpunished. They’re still important though. I like the quote but sometimes a piece can trigger a painful memory. The meal suggestion sounds delicious but for dessert. The drink sounds interesting. Haven’t been to today’s port. Prayers for everyone on our list today. Cheers to everyone celebrating happy events today including my BIL Jude who is celebrating his birthday.
Happy birthday to Jude.
