  1. thanks, but that's more than we paid for a private cabana on labadee with peronalized service.. .Don't think we would pay that much or use OBC on that..esp when there are other pools and beaches we could visit ???? gee I have to scroll way back to catch up!
  2. Spoiler: this is personal to Jim..others can skip if they want! Perhaps you and Ian can exchange gifts or tokens on the beach,to mark a renewal of your life bond...and let the tide take away bad memories. I worked with abuse cases for many yrs.. the scars remain but the courage to break away is a cause for Celebration. All victims deserve to heal! good thoughts!
  3. .. We cruised 15 days round trip on Summit..yrs ago...one of our best trips.. Old memories fade so pls forgive me if I do not have this sharp in my mind. Just hit a big birthday this year! . We were in port in Honolulu overnight.. walked alot & saw Diamond Head, Waikiki Beach the big pink hotel, Dukes, the surfer monument. & .great jewelry shopping . Also took a tour that stopped at the big cemetery, memorials to King (?) Kameahmea( sic)..and other historic places Most moving to us was the visit to the ARIZONA and museum...so well done but possibly not in great shape. Wish all Americans could visit to honor those who gave their lives for our country!
  4. just bought that today.. Sal will make beans, broccoli rabbe, and sausage..one of our fav peasant dishes!
  5. stunning! have a great time. We loved this port ... so much to do and the Aloha Spirit ! What have you planned?
  6. I noticed the TV looked small..and sat on a niche where I used to set my flowers..(no longer available.) We are not glued to the TV on a cruise, but this means no navigation channel, no way to check daily account balance, no CD updates or repeats of the Podium or Capt's presentations.. No movies or TV shows or music.. Wonder when it will be restored?
  7. my husb found a great deal on an atrium( inside) balcony...We loved it! light and bright and private!
  8. great photos..My husb is a camera guy still... does great work with his settings lenses and filters etc .but really does not do well with the phone cameras! But carrying all that stuff is cumbersome! The pushiest vendors we have encountered were in Pisa on the walkway to the Leaning Tower.. They are not locals and hawk junk and get in your face. One harassed me and then touched me..He really picked the wrong woman..I protected my personal space......too bad for him!
  9. we cruised on Sovereign years ago and immediately switchrd to X after that (Mecury)....all ships have come a long way since Sovereign!
  10. i may have missed it..how much for beach club you went to ,
  11. On Ascent we had to ask them to stop..Had a 6 pm res and after hours play was in progress. We told maitre d we would not stay unless they stopped but they were actually very cooperative..Players could not understand why....plink plink plink
  12. sorry someone fell but seems it was handled very well by Dora. Hope person was okay. the tour looked very comprehensive and your photos were outstanding. truly brilliant..thanks for sharing. How pushy were the vendors? The art/ artist in the pics looked interesting..I collect small orig art from our ports to display in our Fl place. All in all, We probably would have opted for a shorter tour because after awhile we just tire out on long tours.
  13. You are really going to be cruise hopping! We are interested in the Cunard leg..Which ship will you be taking.? We took a short cruise on QM2 up to Canada, some years ago, and enjoyed it. We had .great meals for dinner ( not in the Grills), and we loved the tavern for lunch. The once per cruise afternoon tea was a treat. We met very interesting people on board...most from US. The shows had top talent...and they had classical music on board..Ian will enjoy. The planetarium and library were very nice and the downstairs club was quite lively.. Hope we can follow that leg here
  14. you dodged a painful bullet!
  15. very welk organized..I handwrite my list manually. Yours is neater! Hydration always an issue in the tropics. Aside from parts of Mexico, the heat and humidity in Panama was the worst we ever felt
  16. ASCENT def had it..plink plink plink
  17. Vintage...me too..if it works.. your photos of the public areas are great and the ship shows like star! happy to see this great piece is still there!
  18. too cool..did the guide get it? looks like lots of good things are offered for Concierge Class..Enjoy!
  19. glad u got the burger you craved We used to stay over in Florence on our 2 day drive from NY to Fl a few times a year.. With our last pet sadly gone, we no longer drive.. We fly now..probably best for us because the ride was becoming tedious, lots more traffic and dangerous w big trucks . Flying is no picnic but we grin and bear it. Hope you enjoyed the cruise!
  20. Nice nostalgic, memories of this style cabin.. I like the light wood.. and layout of the built ins and counter. But it is vintage. It looks like an old couch, same patterned " coverlet" across the bed, maybe same carpet or similar style.,. And still has a shower curtain,,,looks newer..maybe new tile in shower...and updated shower mechanism For us it would be how things function, , Are there enough elec outlets, do phones charge quickly, does AC work well and quietly, do the sink and shower drain well, does the toilet have any issues, how is the water temp and pressure in the shower, does the safe work ok, and does the fridge keep cool? If these all check out Okay, we could be happy !
  21. I was surprised to read of similar issues on a Princess ship in rough weather..(on the thread here that compares Princess and X) "We were on the Enchanted for a 10 day southern Caribbean cruise in Dec. 2023 in cabin # E701 cat. me. We experienced heavy seas the last 3 or 4 days of the cruise. Had much squeaking, knocking and banging. Could not get much sleep for 3 nights. Reported this condition to quest services on the first day and had our room steward acknowledge the noises and he passed this on to his higher-ups. We inquired about a resolution each day to guest services and their manager. No one from maintenance showed up until the last day, and said nothing could be done. Shims have been placed in the ceiling and walls previously to no avail. This is an existing problem from the start in many cabins. The cabin next door did not have this problem but many others have. Research your cabin for noise problems in rough seas. Other then this issue, the cruise was great."
  22. Surprised to hear of same problem that newer Celebrity E Class are having... How old is this ship and have they figured out the cause?
