  1. Both ships are now well past the Tracy Arm cutoff. Not sure if I'll be able to be here for sail-in as I have 4PM zoom meetings both today and tomorrow. Roy
  2. Ar least as of up to the shutdown this is the situation I encountered. I think they are mostly still true. Except on grand voyages, Cunard carries a priest only on QM2. When Sunday occurs on a sea day the Captain conducts an non-denominational service. They have always been very well done in my experience. Holland America still carries a priest on every cruise (I think there have been a couple of cruises where it has fallen through). They do conduct a daily mass but have only rarely seen them do anything for non-Catholics. They do carry a pastor and rabbi on grand voyages. In recent years a self-led service is scheduled for Sundays, and Mass and Protestant services are held concurrently in different rooms so the Priest cannot lead. Only on Crystal did the Priest lead a non-denominational service on Sundays, and they always did a very good job. I still tried to get to a local church when available but also went to the onboard service because I wanted it to continue. Crystal only advertised those services on "Sundays at Sea" but I cannot remember a port Sunday when they did not do it except on a turnaround day. One of the very special things about the Crystal culture. While I did attend a local service in Bar Harbor off QM2 last summer what I now normally do is follow the livestream service from my home church. Roy
  3. @StLouisCruisers prayers for Ren's teammates. We need to put a stop to this epidemic of toe injuries. Roy
  4. Today's sunrise is from my 2009 Blount cruise from Chicago to New Orleans. On June 5 we were at Grand Rivers, Kentucky. Roy

  6. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann. I like looking at hot air balloons but have no desire to do it myself. We only have one planet so we must take better care of it than we have been doing. I enjoy frozen yogurt The Marshall Plan was great for Europe, and less directly the rest of the world. I've been to Nassau many times but never on a BHB. I'll pass on the Salmon. My alternative is Pinnacle Caesar Salad, Petit Filet, and Baked Alaska as served on MS Prinsendam June 5, 2015. Note: photo from 2019 Roy
  7. Today's sunrise is another from my 2015 Prinsendam B2B. June 4 was a sea day from Ijmuiden, Netherlands to Portland, UK: Roy

  9. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Graham, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann. After a HOT Friday yesterday was hot and today will be more pleasant. No cat to hug, Applesauce Cake sounds nice, and I like cheese in moderation. I think I like the Fitzgerald quote but am not into Golf. I have not actually been to Corner Brook but drove through the environs on a Smithsonian trip in 2000. It was a port on my 2020 Zuiderdam cruise that was cancelled. I had actually wanted to get off in Corner Brook, drive through Gander, and rejoin the ship in St. Johns but was denied permission, apparently due to requirements of Canada's equivalent of the Jones Act. Leaving in about an hour as today is my second week on the crew livestreaming our worship service. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Pineapple Boat, Baked Ricotta Stuffed Shells, and Black Forest Cake as served on MS Prinsendam June 4, 2015. Roy
  10. I have another sunset rather than a sunrise, and it's again from my 2015 MS Prinsendam cruise. June 3 was a turnaround day in Ijmuiden between segments of a Baltic, followed by British Isles cruise. Roy

  12. Be sure to check post #28 in the thread by @Dr.Dobro for a great current post on Dover. Roy
  13. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann. I enjoy watching dragon boats, love trails but I think from now on need to only walk the best maintained or paved. I was an avid bicyclist for about half a century but eventually gave it up. Not sure sleeping late will help much in the long run if there are still consequences to deal with. It sounds like the events 402 years ago today probably lead to the eventual establishment of Nieuw Amsterdam. I have sailed from Dover twice on Crystal Symphony but the closest I've been on a BHB is boarding Prinsendam in Tilbury in 2011. Yesterday was HOT here, today will be much more tolerable. The meal sounds nice. I'll pass on posting an alternative. Roy
  14. As HAL enthusiasts how can it not be the Orange? Looks great! Roy
  15. Thank you Leanne, Lou & Dave, and fellow addicts. Have a great weekend. Roy
  16. Not my first ship but I also sailed Leeward in 1998. It did a series of cruises from Alexandria, VA to Bermuda. Kind of a strange schedule because turnaround day ran REALLY early to avoiding the Woodrow Wilson Bridge anytime near rush hour. Even around 1:30 or 2PM, the backups we caused going under the bridge were a sight to see. Roy
