  1. Club balcony also get mailed luggage tags.
  2. Epic is now 12 years old. In my opinion, NCL food varies from acceptable to reasonably good, in most cases. It is not “foodie” quality. I can get better examples of just about any food item in my small midwestern city. Nevertheless, I have never gone hungry on an NCL cruise. I have done three transatlantics on NCL and enjoyed them all. My suggestion: splurge and hire a private guide in Barcelona.
  3. Assumes your flight to New York is not greatly delayed or cancelled. Better to fly in the day before and take an Uber or taxi.
  4. Go have yourself a really fine lobster lunch at a restaurant in Halifax.
  5. Plenty of money sloshing around in the pockets of potential cruisers who are doing well.
  6. I wouldn’t miss dinner in Victoria, but was just pointing out that in my experience NCL has been scrupulous in timely advising passengers of port changes.
  7. My Alaska cruise next month just had a half hour deviation in our visit to Victoria. Yesterday I received an email from NCL with the complete original schedule, the complete new schedule, and yellow highlighter drawing attention to the half hour change. The email also noted that our shore excursions would be automatically adjusted. In my experience, this is the norm for NCL.
  8. My always helpful PCC “overrode” the NCL computer to book my 9 and 6 year old grandkids in one connecting club balcony and their parents in the other.
  9. You might want to hit the “Sail Safe” link on NCL’s home page to read all about NCL’s Covid-related requirement.
  10. You can easily buy soda packages upon embarkation. There is usually a signup table (with no line) near the atrium.
  11. Soda package is easily purchased upon embarkation. Usually sold at a table clearly marked in the hallway near the Atrium.
  12. I recommend two gin and tonics prior to sleeping on the sofa.
  13. I booked an Alaska cruise in August earning triple points in a balcony. I will receive 21 points for the week, moving me up to Saphire.
  14. Could bring a Kindle--read a book or two.
  15. On transatlantic voyages, NCL provides a bridge instructor/game director who, on sea days, provides a beginner lesson, an intermediate lesson and a duplicate bridge game. In my experience, about 50 passengers take part in each event. It is a great way to learn bridge or improve your game and to make sea days pass quickly. In addition, I have never failed to make friends at these events.
  16. When I cancel a shore excursions I call my PCC. She typically answers immediately and the whole transaction takes perhaps two minutes.
  17. I don’t believe the Epic has “regular, non-Haven suites.”
  18. I vividly recall eating lobsters in NCL MDRs and buffets years ago. They were almost always warm water lobsters, an entirely different species from cold water lobsters. They can be tasty if carefully cooked, but NCL’s were always a disappointment .
  19. Bear in mind that Studio cabins don’t get upgrade offers.
