  1. And in the OP's case it wasn't a problem for their closed loop cruise, as they said in post 7. All travel isn't created equally and what one needs for international air travel is different than what one needs for other forms of travel.
  2. I am not sure what ships are in which class (except the ones that I served on in the Navy) but can confirm that on Anthem of the Seas to enter the buffet area you had to walk through an area with sinks on either side of the hallway. A crew member directed everyone going in to pass through there and the hallway was reserved for those exiting. I don't generally people watch in those situations but am fairly certain that a number of folks just walked past the sinks.
  3. I do get your point, but they can't claim ignorance if something goes south with their pregnancy. The result for them is the same. (And of course one would hope that they would at least ask their provider about whether they should cruise or not, but I'm sure that doesn't happen all of the time.)
  4. All passengers agree to the terms and conditions whether they've read them or not.
  5. You can't ask the medical doctor but you can certainly as the patient, who may choose not to answer (and of course in this context that may raise issues). If someone exceeds the guideline and has issues onboard they would not have any legal recourse to anything since they violated the rule.
  6. To your last comment our last balcony cabin was only a couple of doors away from the elevator area, which was open to the Atrium below. The Atrium could get very noisy at night (mostly music) but the crew always closed the fire doors which took care of the noise issue. But if one books a cabin in the middle of three passenger decks and chooses a cabin in between the elevators it should be nice and quiet.
  7. Society overall is very lax at rule following and since the members of the society cruise that tendency naturally follows them.
  8. https://www.polandspring.com/ Bottled spring water and it is very similar to other brands of bottled spring water.
  9. There should be water glasses in the cabin.
  10. Yes, having a passport can sometimes get you through Customs quicker when returning from a cruise but we're only talking minutes, not hours and I would be loathe to spend that kind of money only for that limited benefit. I realize that the timing affected this next statement but when we disembarked in NOLA last year DW and I went through the passport line and our travel companions went through the BC line. We all emerged on the other side at the same time.
  11. I could tell from your first response that the post didn't upset you and I am certain that all of this crossed your mind in the months leading up to the cruise. I do applaud you for your idea of using protective sheets for each birth certificate, that never occurred to me back in the day when we used them for cruising.
  12. Great info to have, I've never thought of this as a food option when the MDR is open.
  13. Fine print. "Complimentary drink may be specialty coffee, soda or alcoholic beverage with a value no greater than $10.00 + gratuity. Redeemable at any bar on the last evening of the cruise after 5 p.m. Alcoholic beverages may only be consumed by adults of applicable legal drinking age." (Maybe it's been raised to $11 though.)
  14. If you have to leave the ship for any reason you'll still have expensive problems getting back to the US even with a passport. There are provisions in the regulations that allow for the waiver of the passport requirement for emergencies, so all one really faces is a bit of a delay while things are sorted out with the authorities (and such sorting takes place between the cruise line and the authorities). Whether you agree with it or not US citizens have the right to travel without a passport in certain circumstances and belittling them for their choice isn't cool (you may not have intended to belittle anyone with the phrase "consider growing up" but it reads that way). Every traveler should choose the documentation that meets their individual travel needs and that varies by person.
  15. Since casinos generate so much income I would edit your last line to read "...will be allowed in cruise ship casinos.". DW had almost had to go to medical one cruise because trivia took place in an area adjacent to the casino bar and all the residual smoke triggered an asthma attack. So now we avoid staying in one place near the casino.
  16. They might have it on the buffet. I don't think that I've ever seen anyone take a container from the entrance, only from a table.
  17. It may be and a 7 day cruise is less likely to attract many spring breakers but remember, colleges across the country do spring break.
  18. I think you'll find a lot of people having a good time, with or without alcohol. It's easy enough to avoid raucous partying if one wishes to.
  19. Yes, if they are cruising that quickly this can wait. It won't be an issue for the cruise and the correction can be done at any time. (I found out about this because I misspelled her middle name on the application. Always thought it was "Ann", turns out it is "Anne". Handled without cost. The passports expire next year and I still haven't lived this one down.)
  20. From State.gov: You can correct your passport if there is a data or printing error. A data error may include an issue with your name, gender, or place of birth. A printing error may include data is missing on the biographical page, discoloration, or crooked printing. We will correct the error at no charge if the passport is still valid. To correct a data or printing error, submit the following by mail: Form DS-5504 (find mailing instructions on the form) Your current passport One color photo Evidence of the error (e.g. your U.S. birth certificate showing the correct spelling of your last name). You will not have to submit any fees. How long can I use the new, corrected passport? If you are reporting the error within one year of us issuing your incorrect passport, the new passport will be valid for 10 years. If you are reporting the error after one year, the new passport will be valid until the expiration date of your original, incorrect passport.
  21. It will be up to the person examining the document, whether at check in or at Customs when returning. If they can clearly read them then they may not ask for them to be taken out. FWIW I've never had Customs look that closely at the documents upon return (all passengers are pre-cleared through a multitude of databases while the cruise is ongoing), so any checks upon return are minimal. (Another thing you can do is make copies of them and use them at check in and when clearing Customs and keep the originals in the plastic sleeves in the rare event they may be asked for. Copies are perfectly legitimate though for a closed loop cruise so I would be greatly surprised if they were asked for.)
  22. Not concerned, I expect that this will be resolved by the time we sail and if it does pose a significant threat to passenger safety Carnival would re-route us.
  23. You can try promising her that you won't scrutinize every drink she orders and she has carte blanche to order as she will.
  24. Oh yes, received the email receipt and verified that the purchases are in my planner.
