  1. Just off Odyssey on Sunday there was 1150 kids on board. Diamond concierge said that number increases for the next few of weeks. Seemed to be lots of multi generational families. Did not affect our cruise, there was lots of stuff to keep the kids occupied. It was an eye opener for us as we usually do longer cruises on older ships. We enjoyed Odyssey and would go on her again, maybe a transatlantic.
  2. My understanding is the NFL feed is controlled by head office, the ship has no control over which games are on. One ship we sailed (can't remember which one) had NFL red zone on the big screen by the Pool
  3. Royal has Lifeguards on all ships at all pools. Has been a few years now.
  4. When we had the connecting room there was a lot of noise from next door. The door seemed to be warped, our room attendant stuffed the cracks and taped the door cracks with masking tape, that helped. We just had a connecting room on Jewel and it was fine. I think it is a combination of the door and how noisy the neighbors are.
  5. To the people who say it was dried out, yes I agree the last few years the quality went down, but when we started cruising 25 years ago it was excellent. I also seem remember it was on the room service menu for a few years.
  6. We have sailed Celebrity many times and sailed Pride of America in Hawaii. It was our only Norwegian cruise so far. We were pleasantly surprised, the food wasn't bad. This cruise is different from a regular cruise however. Its more like a floating hotel room, as you are in port every day, the ship doesn't play as big a roll in your vacation. The ship is old but well maintained. If its your first time in Hawaii this cruise is a great overview of the islands. I probably would not do this cruise again because now I know which Island I would like to spend time on. But if its your first visit I would recommend it.
  7. New England cruise in Sept on Celebrity Summit. There was a guest Lecturer.
  8. We have sailed on the Pride of America, it is in my opinion the idea way to visit Hawaii the first time. With a couple of days in Honolulu pre or post cruise you get an excellent overview of the islands. When we return to the islands we will probably do a land vacation now that we know which island we like best.
  9. We had an extra day on Serenade in 2019 as we were rerouted because of a hurricane. No gratuities charged for the extra day. Everyone on board was given free internet for the day so they could re book their air. We also received a loyalty point for the extra day
  10. My wife and I just arrived home from the same cruise, so I will add a little of our experience. First I would like to say to the OP that I am so sorry that your cruise turned out the way it did, I do not feel that you were complaining, just telling it the way it was. My wife and I had an inside room it was very nice, but I could not image being quarantined in it for 5 days. I think I will be upping my bid on the next cruise. We arrived at the cruise port at 12:15 and boarded the ship within 30 minutes. At the end of the cruise we did 'walk off'. I was the smoothest we ever had, off the ship and picking up our car at the hotel by 7:45. I totally believe the OP's bad experience, this just shows how 2 different people can have a different experience on the same cruise, just luck of the draw. The only really negative for us was my time dining, we tried to book a time on the app before the cruise but could only get 5 or 8 o'clock, we tried to book on the ship and same thing. The second night we tried to get a pager about 7 and were told it would be an hour so we may as well wait until 8. At that point we gave up on my time and asked to be moved to 8 o'clock regular dining. They gave us an excellent table for 2 by a window. Our waiters and food were very good. The regular dining room seemed to be half empty many nights at 8, the my time seemed overwhelmed. Why not just make the whole dining room my time? (just my opinion) It was also our anniversary on this cruise (38th). We booked the Tuscan grill, the food was good, better than the dining room but we did not think it worth the extra money. We thought the Ship was in good shape, and the crew worked hard, but I agree they seemed to be short staffed. Sorry I did not mean to high jack this thread I was going to write a review but just thought i could add our comments here.
  11. We did a back to back 5 day then 9 day on Navigator a few years ago. There was definitely a younger crowd on the 5 day. Didn't really notice any difference in the amount of drinking partying etc.
