  1. Good Morning All, Love the quote and sloppy joes. My spaghetti sauce is thick enough to be served that way. (The noodles are more of an afterthought, and not a delivery agent.) Now that you brought up sloppy Joe’s, I’m even considering dropping our planned spaghetti and instead serving it on rolls ( for our trip). Half of us are packed, and 95% of the community stuff is also. So I’m going to try and minimize the repacking and re-editing dither I tend to go through before we leave. During the night I realized with our summer weather I had lost the concept of 50 degree nights, so will add in a warm up suit. So tomorrow at this time we’re planning to be well on our way. We want to beat the heat going through Vegas. @StLouisCruisers congratulations, you are free! Have a great day everyone!
  2. Can’t help but notice- You left out a great deal of context. Does your hypothetical scenario include a pandemic of Noro, noro’s route of transmission suddenly being changed from fecal-oral to droplet and areosol, and HAL instituting their current care policy Care Policy to encourage people to cruise?
  3. Was it only a year ago we longed for a thread like this?
  4. @JazzyV, @Quartzsite Cruiser The data collection device is a Flume (https://flumewater.com). The cost is around $200. You have to have a compliant water meter. The device goes on the pipe at the meter, and it broadcasts to a station you put nearby in the garage or house. Data goes to their server for analysis and posting to your private account. We have about a weeks worth of data. There is no breakdown by appliance yet. We do have (probable) totals for toilet flushes.😩 I suspect some of my military showers are getting mixed in with sink use or flushes. (I would suspect flushes to be pretty similar in their water use signature, so not surprised that is getting sorted out first.). One really handy piece of information is the data stream give you gallons per minute, so DH grabbed our stats for each sprinkler station, and we’re going to use that to plan watering schedules. ( That’s how he discovered the leak: netafim ( a drip line product) should NOT be consuming 16 gallons a minute.) https://flumewater.com/whats-using-water-in-your-home/ We have no affiliation or other interest in the company. I’m purely reporting.
  5. Good Morning All, And Happy Father’s Day! We’re going to celebrate with a half pan of lasagna from our favorite restaurant and a cake I made yesterday. Several months ago many of you posted candidate recipes for a “Magnolia Cake” recipe I had lost. I wove several together and the cake is in the refrigerator, marinating. I’ll gather the recipes and put them together and post soon. We recently got a device to put on our water meter that uses the data from the meter and AI to determine how much water you are using by appliance, and indoor vs outdoor. It provides use on a timeline, which is helpful for us to plan watering schedules for the garden. The family joke currently is “ there better be a short spike ( gallon or so) of water immediately after each spike from a toilet flush.” There’s an Away mode that alerts you to indoor usage ( in case of a leak or a burglar who washes their hands….) Anyway, in analyzing the data, DH noted a station on drippers was using enough to be large sprinklers. The station only runs one a week….. so something was leaking. He poked around for several hours, and discovered a broken sprinkler pipe ( likely damaged by tree roots and/ or the lawnmower.) So that’s fixed now, and the device has already paid for itself. And that’s before the AI has “learned/ matured”, as he correlated with our sprinkler schedule. Have a great day everyone!
  6. Good Morning All, Well, it’s Saturday. Today’s plans include shopping for a shirt for Dad for Father’s Day, and grocery shopping. Hope to finalize our menus and start packing for our Grand Canyon trip. We have a cabin reserved near the park, so we will be cooking in a microwave. Last night I did a test run of cooking spaghetti noodles in it, and I think that will be the way I do pasta going forward. 13 minutes in a pyrex bowl with the lid on made perfect pasta without the hassle and risk of dealing with a large pot of boiling water. Have a great day everyone!
  7. Same here. We had a bumper crop this year, and still a few lemons left on the tree
  8. Don’t the Pinnacle Class ships have both?
  9. So what’s the difference in the furnishings of the venues, and the performances?
  10. Good Afternoon All, Heres our contribution for International Waterfalls Day: part of upper Chilnhuilna Falls in Wawona, Yosemite National Park. It’s one of our favorites, is best early season and not too many people know about it. So it’s our secret, okay? I would also post Waterwheel Falls, in Yosemite’s high country, but the pictures aren’t digital. 03249830-A762-4962-8ADC-A2D493CCD119.MOV Veggie Day- I just picked the first 2 peppers from our garden. Will stuff them with hamburger spaghetti sauce ( I make it thick with a sprinkle of cinnamon) and so we’ll celebrate the beginning of veggie season in our new garden. Gotta check our stash for an appropriate wine. Our garden now: Tonights dinner The passion fruit vines are growing!
  11. Good Afternoon All, The sun just came out and it’s heating up here. Regardless, I have a chuck in the crockpot slowly metaphorsing into chili con carne. We’ll have it for dinner tonight, and will freeze some to take on our upcoming trip to Grand Canyon. We plan to microwave it in our cabin. @rafinmdIts now official: My friend and I have tickets to Come from Away. It’s playing within driving distance, and I’ve wanted to see it since several of your posts. (And that is really unusual, because I just am NOT a theater person. Nor a movie person. I think the last play I saw was Evita, back in the 90s.) @Heartgrove Will be thinking about your family tomorrow. @StLouisCruisers DH being positive in a second big “oh no!” Hang in there. Have a great day everyone!
  12. We had none ( nor did we expect one) on our Sea of Cortez a few months ago. With staffing shortages I would not expect one.
  13. Talking about wild animals, we recently had a young girl attacked by coyotes while she was on the beach. And then there was the cougar that walked into a business. Neither of these incidents were in rural areas.
  14. Interesting. This MAY be totally different for your situation , but in my circumstance they were able to reverse it. I was going to add my Dad to our grandfathered plan. We have a data cap that we don’t get any where near, so no reason to upgrade. The AT&T rep suggested I move us into a plan that would be unlimited, for only $10 more per month ( applying Dad’s military discount.) He could not give me paperwork. When I got home, I received a statement (~$200) showing over $20 ( I think it was actually $40) per device initiation fee, a final monthly total over $30 more than what we had been paying, and the loss of my ability to hotspot to my iPad. It was the new unlimited plan - which we don’t need. I marched right back and got there as the employee was going off duty. He confirmed he had not given me the details, and told a colleague to call in and authorize the reinstatement of our old plan. *All they had to do was call a special number, they exchanged several security codes, and the employee told them THE STORE was authorizing it.* Maybe, just maybe this might help? This was an AT&T store, not a reseller.
  15. Good Morning All, Yesterday got away from me before I could post. I went down a rabbit hole trying to draw out a building so I could cut it out with the new Cricut. The building has some weird angles, and I discovered the tool that comes with it is pretty lame. So on to several other options: Corel draw (got the drawing done but had other issues), Inkscape ( more of a learning curve than I had after the first 2 attempts), and finally ended up in (of all things) PowerPoint. So after my hubby reminded me of the demo we saw at a local NMRA meeting, I was done in 20 minutes. So I guess my future workflow will be primarily SketchUp and PP. Anyway, today is another day and I’ll pay proper respects to my Sewing machine and will weed my garden. Then take a bath ( warm soak) and distribute the water to our plants ( so the only water “use” is the couple of gallons for the military style shower). 🙂 @Heartgrove Sending my condolences. @Rowsby Sending condolences. @kazu Good to hear from you. Your flowers are beautiful. Last time I went to Flowermart in LA, there were so many varieties of hydrangeas, and some didn’t even look close to a typical hydrangea. My hydroponic lettuce is doing well. We will have salad soon. Also have borage and dill growing in jars.
  16. Is eurodam one of the ships who had pax booked as part of a cruise tour that HAL canceled?
  17. Even when you have the booking through a TA?
  18. Good Morning All, Today is cleaning day here. I’m up early ( just was done sleeping) and plan to attack it, then work with our new Cricut machine. It’s still cool here ( going to 100 supposedly) and will take His Nibs for his walk after the sun comes up. Maybe I ought to get him out of bed now….. payback for so many times he’s done that to us. Or kept us up when playtime hit late. Have a great day everyone!
  19. That’s really sad. The police need to be able to investigate suspicious behavior.
  20. Good Morning All, Today we begin the March into a heat wave. We expect 100 tomorrow.😜 Our little guest fledged day before yesterday, and I have no idea if he or she is still hanging around. Today is visit Dad and errands day. Have to fill the tank, too.
  21. Good Morning All, Its looking like a warm day coming. Will celebrate gardening by checking the newly installed dropper lines on our slope. We have a few trees that are not doing that well, and have dried up leaves. Hopefully they will put out new growth. I’m doing a lot of hand watering with the water that wasn’t the right temperature to use, and with gray water now that we have some correct soap. @ger_77 The chicken sounds good. Will have to give it a try. We got approved within a week. This was for our March cruise. Have a great day everyone!
