  1. Well, I am 57 so it is an old term that fortunately isn't needed to be said very often. No need for code words any longer.
  2. Yes I did RCCL in 2004 or 2005 3 night to Ensenada and was truly a booze cruise, not to mention some sketchy passengers that I wouldn't leave anything on my deck chair other than a towel.
  3. I just remember RCCL is seems to be shoved down your throat with adds and talks, etc. LOL
  4. First time on X. My cruise is in 32 days from Seattle to Alaska round trip. I can already hear the phrase "Diamonds International" Please tell me Celebrity doesn't partner with anyone like that? Other cruise lines we have listend to port talks about shopping and they all seem to be very expensive "authentic local crafts made in China".
  5. My upcoming cruise in Sept according to the app has the meetup nightly at 6 PM right in the middle of dinner service. By the time the cruise comes around, does the activity schedule get altered any?
  6. Any suggestions for a solo cruise where they don't gauge you for being a solo? DH has given permission for me to do a solo cruise, preferably out of San Diego or Los Angeles (San Pedro). No Carnival or Norwegian please. Any suggestions for cruise lines? I am late 50's and just sailing solo, not single i.e. I am married.
  7. You scared me! This is my first X cruise leaving in about a month and I was having second thoughts. Glad the cruise went well and had great service.
  8. Interesting. I am on the Solstice 2 Sept in a concierge and we got 1130 AM. There could be a few reasons for this: You did not check in the first day check in was available The ship you are on arrives later in the morning, thus impossible to disembark, clean, and embark earlier than 1 PM.
  9. It in my opinion is an overpriced novelty. While there are other menu items available, this only works for the chicken breast or lobster. A little animated chef appears on your plate preparing and dragging your entre to your plate.
  10. I didn't see anything on the bar menus in the app so it must be something printed up that day and displayed in the bar. Thanks for the info.
  11. Never got one. Someone on my roll call said, "Check in is open" but it wasn't for me for another hour.
  12. First time on X so was curious if they do a drink of the day where it is a different featured drink promoted each day.
  13. I also know it has a lot to do with when port staff are there and ready and when the ship is disembarked and inspected before allowing the next lot of us on board.
  14. I believe every cruise line, or at least the ones I have been on, RCCL, HAL, Princess, all close shops and casinos when in port and a certain nautical mile away from ports. Thankfully the lounges will be open.
  15. All checked in on the app YEAH and saw we got the 11:30 AM arrival time at the port YEAH. Since this is the first check in time, how much earlier than 11:30 can we arrive to complete the check in at the port and board the ship. I know the later times are pretty restrictive because of the groups before you.
  16. We had booked HAL for an 18 night Hawaiian cruise from San Diego. It was about a week in Hawaii with the remaining days at sea trying to get to and from Hawaii. Sadly, we had a family emergency and we had to cancel.
  17. They aren't, sadly. But at least at the buffet if I serve myself I control the portions.
  18. You should be able to, just place either on the sofa, or chairs so it is out of the way for hoovering or dusting the floors and surfaces and deffy not on the bed made or not. If you get a visit by the cleaning fairy, your stateroom might be ready by the time you get on board.
  19. You can go by the itinerary. Traditionally in cruising the formal nights are days at sea so people don't have to rush from the port to fancy it up. First night and last night tend to be casual and in reality a toss up of what you see as people either haven't gotten their luggage by dinner time or they are packed up already and the luggage is in the corridor.
  20. If you look under the various events on the app it will show you. Example on mine the Solstice 2 Sept STARTERS: Creamy Butternut Squash Soup Classic Ceasar Salad ENTREES Roast Salmon with sauteed spinach, fingerling mashed potato and caper vinaigrette Moroccan Braised Short Ribs Sultana couscous, toasted almonds, cinnamon charred carrots. Grilled Chicken Paillard arugula, over dried grape tomato, shallot vinaigrette, and French fries Whole Wheat Penne Pasta braised tomatoes, leeks asparagus and herb ricotta crostini DESERTS Chocolate cake with layers of dulce de leche and chocolate fudge Warm Apple Pie with vanilla bean gelato and candied walnuts WINE RECOMENDATIONS Chardonnay, Elegance by Celebrity Cruises & Jackson Family Wines $11/$43 Cabernet Sauvignon, Elegance by Celebrity Cruises & JAckson Family Wines $11/$48
  21. An example to this is I was trying to hire and office assistant for a non-profit last year. We as a non profit couldn't pay THAT much just above minimum wage. Many candidates at the interview had said that they decline as they make more on unemployment than they would working for us, thus truly not the business' fault.
  22. Having been on neither I cannot compare, but as far as ports, NCL has special permission to only do Hawaii while other lines must start or end elsewhere that is not part of Hawaii, that is you can end in Hawaii, or start in Hawaii on other lines, but not both like on NCL
  23. Easiest to check your app. It is 45ish days away. Ish meaning for my cruise it was 44 days before it opened.
