  1. This change of deviation flight booking doesn't affect start of penalty phase as penalties don't start until a minimum of 59 days after the new booking date of deviation air fares.so no harm no foul with this change in regards to cancel without penalty other than possibly the administrative fee.
  2. Last time cruised out of Miami we rented a car at the airport and drove to Miami Beach for our hotel. Went to Joes Stone Crab, wonderful. Embarkation day drove to the port, dropped off our luggage and wife. Took the car back to the airport then called an Uber back to the port. That was when car rentals wee cheap as well as Uber about $20/ To visit Miami Beach, almost have to have a car. Miami Beach long, about 10 or more miles long and relatively narrow. The art deco area is on South Beach, don't know the hotel prices but, a lot of interesting hotels. We used points to stay within walking distance of South Beach. Without a car you are limited wo what you see of the beach. Plan well as you won't have a lot of time if flying in day before cruise.
  3. Since you only have 33000 Marriott points my suggestion is to go to the Marriott website and see which Marriott Hotels in Miami are available for that point number. Did the work for you and depending on the date, there are a few available next February your poits will cover but, not the JW's. Since you will need to take a taxi or Uber, don't need to be near the port. February is high season in Miami so suggest you reserve well in advance before prices and point requirements go way up. As far as I know Marriott will refund your points if you have to cancel up to very close to your booking date. Good luck,
  4. FYI You changing your mind on the return will likely cost another $175 po as each time you change flights is another deviation fee. you just might luck out if they put you on other than your agreed to flight to Miami. Hope you have a copy of the agreed to itinary and the email you sent back with the agreed to flight. good luck
  5. Quite true and oftentimes those bargains are only available depending on your home location. another thing to consider is the fact that some insurance policies don’t cover your sir if not included with the cruise plus the lower bought yourself are instantly non cancelable from day one while included air has the same refund policy as the cruise and if departure or arrival ports change regent covers those changes while you are out of luck if purchasing air on your own. More than price to consider when choosing self bought and included air.
  6. Don't forget you are paying the airfare cost as part of your cruise fare with Regent.o Yes fares are up all over but, Regent won't lose money to you are actually paying those fares and not really saving much if anything, Nothing is free no matter how much the cruise line says it is free!!!!
  7. And yours is a generalization as well so now we have a stalemate.
  8. Actually would rather use any TA than a Regent or any other cruise line TA Problem with using a cruise line ta is the work fir yhe company not you and won’t go the extra effort to help you since their job is beholden to the cruise line the ta dirks and is beholden to you.
  9. Have flown Icelandic and was NOT impressed. I am kind of in the same boat as you. Was scheduled on United Reykjavik to EWR connecting to Houston Found yesterday now flying thru Chicago and checked things and United has dropped the KEF-EWR route for this year at least. Given a choice in your situation, would likely take United thru Chicago. on Polaris for the long flight. Did not le the seating or meals on Icelandic but, the price was right and lived with it. YMMV
  10. In addition to OBC or cash rebates from a TA, a good TA will also go to bat for you if any problems arise while a cruise line employee no matter the fancy name will follow what he or she is told so if issues the employee wbutill not help should you have issues. As others have said in the past we cannot recommend TA's and to specifically answer your question, aany of us see absolutely no upside and significant downsides to booking direct with any cruise line. There is no answer to your question.
  11. You could always drive to JFK. Only : hours based on google. IAH is almost z as n hour from my house and fly out of there for most trips. What’s an extra hour??
  12. Can confirm United has dropped KEF to EWR. Am scheduled to fly back from REykjavak to Houston thru EWR. Just looked at my itinerary and they now have me flying KEF-ORD then on t= IAH. KInd of strange no seats loaded for the KEF-ORD flights but, likely because they just added that flight as you stated. Am flying in July so no way could the entire plane be booked
  13. That was an interesting article regarding a recent Space X Starlink launch from Vandenburg. Wondering why you deleted that link. Completely applicable to this thread???
  14. Paul, we are talking about a new marine based Starlink so your 200 miles is not applicable. Not sure of the capacity of the marine system but, appears multiple antenna on the ships to gain capacity for the many on board. Time will tell how this new Starlin with work in a marine environment using the same cow orbit constellations.
  15. Absolutely no difference. RSSC is Regent Seven Seax Cruises the complete name.
  16. Just remember, booking thru Regent will approx double your cost for the hotels. Unfortunately Regent charges per person while the hotel will only charge you per room. Musch much much better and less expensive to book yourself or thru your TA. Yes, you won't get transfers but, doing the transfers is minimal compared to Regent's rates.
  17. My error. Believe but not sure after a Google search the fee for non gateway city varies so depends on the city. Does not appear to be a fixed fee for all cities not on the list my apolog is es for the error.
  18. I was speaking of the guest connections. Of course certain connections are unthrottled fo the cruise consultant snd senior officers for navigational and company needs. And for convenience are thru LAN connections which do avoid the steel limitations.
  19. No. And it is never cellular it would be a LAN line Even with a LAN connection internet would be equally bad as the problems are usually not enough bsndwidth being bought by the cruise from satellite to the. Hip.
  20. Lesson learned ALWAYS deal with a TA and not direct with any cruise line. You are leaving money on the table and losing any leverage. In your case simply ask for another Regent Representative.
  21. Yes this is normal. You see flights are priced from origin to destination. If you want to say stop for more than 24 hours or buy 2 tickets one to Seattle and one Seattle to London that would be 2 separate tickets called point to point as nd much more expensive. You cannot simply split the ticket as you have tried to do. You would need to cancel both flights and then purchase tickets separately for each leg.
  22. Instead of hunting on the Regent site simply put Regent Gateway Airports into Google and the link will pop up. Easy Peasy.
  23. Carnival has also signed a Contract with Starlink for their services across their entire fleet including all Carnival Brands.
  24. Yes, most if not all newer TV's have ports in the back. In order to use the ports you have to change the inputs in the settings so that is what is blocked plus you have to have the exact same remot that allows settings as the remote on cruise ships is special with limited capabilities.
