  1. That's what I'm counting on!
  2. How/Where do you find out how many pax on a sailing? We are on Crown July 11th and it would be nice to know. thanks
  3. Hopeful thinking - our situation could change anytime with regards to covid. I've heard the same about refunds when FCDs expire. Good luck to you getting it earlier
  4. Brings back memories of our day in Cobh! We found a little crafts market close to the port and I bought a much-needed hand-knit hat from the lady that knitted it, and walked the town up to the cathedral, talked with some locals, great memories.
  5. Would be $70 RT for party vs $45 RT for each person. Good to know! OP got a deal on the way back while waiting for the bus as well.
  6. I pack similarly to karatemom2, but lighter. I posted this on another thread, hope t helps: For what it's worth, we have decided to avoid MDR on formal nights, so no formal wear although we will wear passable clothing for the evening. I have everything packed in a 20" roller and will carry it on, plus a medium sized nylon bag that I'm calling my personal item for this trip. We are elite, and have free laundry but doubt I use it much for a 7 day cruise, bc laundry turnaround is 2-3 days. I'm traveling in a pair of black yoga pants for comfort, wearing my bulky sneakers and also wearing liner of waterproof coat (made to be worn separately)to save room in the bag as well as warmth on the long flight. In my carry-on I will have a red/black ruana shawl that can double as a blanket on the flight. In addition to 1 pair black yoga pants, I have 1 pair jeans, 1 pair black velvety leggings, and 1 pair lighter weight plaid cotton knit pants, 1 pair black (tight) leggings to wear under as needed. My color scheme is red/black, and I have 7 tops and 1 black cardigan that will go with most bottoms. Layering tops as needed is my plan - 3 black longsleeve nylon shirts, 1 pullover sweater, 1 fleece pullover and 2 dressier blouses. I can easily rinse out clothes and hang to dry overnight in shower if needed. My waterproof jacket w/hat & gloves is packed in vacuum bag in bottom of bag. PJs, swimsuit for hot tub, 5 pair socks, and flip flops. The only other shoes are my sneakers, which I will wear to travel and almost everywhere else onboard ship. It will probably be 90 F when we board, so it has taken considerable thought to think cold. The average temps for June in Alaska are 60s/40s with good possibility of rain during the week. That is pretty much our winter temps, so I packed what I normally wear in the winter.
  7. I always bring my own in small disposable containers, the kind a small bottle of low-dose aspirin comes in bc they are under the 3 oz liquid TSA rule, and they can be tossed in the garbage when cruise is over. For longer cruises where I may need several shampoos I just add another small container or two.
  8. So enjoying your review, the details and the photos! I am in the beginning stages of planning a British Isles cruise for my cousin and I in 2023. I will have to let her see your review when we visit - she's happy not to be on the 'net. We are in our mid 70s and leaving my husband behind for this trip.
  9. We have cruised with Princess for 25+ cruises, and find it to our liking. In fairness, we have never experienced Viking, so cannot compare. For Alaska cruises, Princess has a Naturalist onboard to help passengers learn about and enjoy Alaska. In Glacier Bay, a National Park Ranger comes aboard as well. Princess itineraries sometimes visit Hubbard Glacier as well. As you stated, neither do we care for the casino. We originally enjoyed dressing for dinner, but now do not pack formal wear. Formal evenings are less and less popular in general it seems, and we can blend in for the evening wearing smart casual so we still enjoy the evening entertainment.
  10. Thanks! Just want to know what to write to fill in the form.
  11. So, for crossing into Canada on a bus excursion on the Yukon Hwy, FRASER is the entry point to put on the ArrCAN form? We are booked with Princess for a shorex on the Yukon Hwy into Canada in June. Confused about what to put as entry point. Thanks for clarification.
  12. Whichever cruise line you decide on, be sure it includes several hours of scenic cruising in Glacier Bay. GB is the highlight of any Alaska cruise!
  13. I know I've seen this mentioned but searched and did not find the thread - sorry for repeat. But, what is the entry point for the Yukon Highway excursion into Canada from Skagway? Many thanks!
  14. For the of you that Have recently taken the train, are the tracks repaired now or is still a shortened ride? Seems like reports were of a landslide or other mishap at MM 15/16 earlier. I'm a little unclear about the details, just remember there was an issue.
  15. We received letter today from our TA regarding ArrCAN as well asother reminders to do prior to leaving on the cruise. Love my TA, she always comes through!
  16. First Ketchikan was dropped bc of the propulsion issue. Icy Strait Point was added evening of Glacier Bay. Yesterday, ISP was dropped. We plan to stick with the original plan to cruise on Crown June 11th but are disappointed. The one 'port' I wanted was Glacier Bay and it remains. Lots of scenic cruising on this cruise...
  17. The city bus drops off outside the park entrance, I understand about 1.5 miles from visitor center. ($2 pp) The blue bus drops off at thee visitor center. ($45 pp RT). I'm interested in walking the Nugget Falls trail also, and understand it starts close to the visitor center.

  19. That's our week! If rumor is true, wonder when they will tell us...
  20. Thanks for the help, and pointing out I should not post info like this on the net. The original message has been deleted,, and I just sent a request that the quote in message 22 also be deleted. I don't know what I was thinking -- I know better!! Hopefully it will be taken care of quickly with no bad repercussions. I feel stupid!
  21. I have taken the Alaska RR From Anchorage to Seward and return, and it was very enjoyable. I can't speak for routes beyond Anchorage, but there must be some available.
  22. Gray Lady: I, personally, would not take capris to wear on an Alaska cruise, cute as they might be. The ship public areas are always cooler than I find comfortable. And your party may decide to walk out on deck during the evening as well and need the extra warmth. linaka625: I can only speak for myself, but we do not pack the extra suitcase for formal clothes on an Alaska cruise. I have read many threads stating the dress code is more relaxed in Alaska. My husband and I both will wear a nice pair of slacks and a nicer shirt for him and dressier top for me.
  23. I did go to airline websites and checked to be sure we are booked and ticketed and have reserved seats. I did not think to email a copy to myself, so I'm going back to do that. Thanks
  24. Nice to know they honor the NP pass and give credit for it.
