  1. Thanks for the correction. There is a thread on the Puerto Rico destination board that says that says that there isn't a requirement, and I incorrectly assumed that this was just another anomaly in the status of Puerto Rico, whose residents can't vote in presidential elections and lack voting representation in Congress.
  2. No test is required for a flight into Puerto Rico. You could check on the Puerto Rico board regarding where to be tested: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/80-san-juan-pr/ Alternatively, depending on the time of your flight, you could be tested on Thursday in Canada before leaving. Probably your best choice if you have the time. A further option would be to take one of the many available proctored test kits and test yourself once in San Juan.

  4. Although you will need to make the submission prior to their boarding, it's is actually for their reentry to Canada at the end of the cruise.
  5. There has been a general preference for credit and debit cards since the beginning of the pandemic, but few establishments have refused cash. In the early days, there was a much greater concern about getting COVID from touching a contaminated surface, including money, but while washing hands is still recommended, the airborne nature of transmission has reduce the concern. If you prefer cash transactions, I doubt that you will encounter problems. And if you have a debit card as an alternative, you'll not need your credit card at all. I think that you are the first poster that I've seen who lives in Bognor Regis. I lived there for several years as a young child before moving to Canada. I've since visited on numerous occasions.
  6. I don't view this as an interpretation, as the ArriveCAN website is quite straightforward on this issue: Who needs to use ArriveCAN All travellers, with limited exceptions, whether entering Canada by air, land, rail or marine vessel, must use ArriveCAN unless you're exempt from this requirement due to an accessibility need. You'll need to submit your information within 72 hours: before your arrival to Canada and/or before boarding a cruise ship destined for Canada There is no current requirement to make an ArriveCAN submission for a cruise embarking at a Canadian port but not stopping elsewhere in Canada or disembarking in Canada at the end of the cruise. Note, however, that until the wording of this section was amended earlier this month, it stated that you needed to provide an ArriveCAN submission when boarding a cruise in Canada irrespective of the destination. This is no longer the case. On the Canadian Cruisers board, with posters from all the cruiselines, there are lengthy threads on the subject of ArriveCAN. I've not seen a single post where a cruiseline has demanded that passengers produce an ArriveCAN receipt for cruises other than those governed by the ArriveCAN requirements.
  7. No, a second ArriveCAN entry isn't required if the cruise will not enter any Canadian port.
  8. I previously provided the CDC's result information requirements, and now I'll add what Celebrity has to say: Accepted Types of Tests and Results There are two common types of diagnostic COVID-19 tests and we accept either one: A molecular test, also called a PCR test or NAAT test An antigen test, also called a rapid antigen test The test must be supervised by a health professional, such as a doctor, pharmacy technician, public health worker, or telehealth representative. You must receive a valid results document from your test provider that includes provider name, your name, the date the test was taken, type of test, and your negative result. This can be a printed document, email, or telehealth app notification. Handwritten doctor’s notes will not be accepted. Telehealth testing at home is only accepted when it meets certain guidelines. See below. Tests We Do Not Accept Antibody tests are not accepted, as they do not detect a current infection. Home test kits that are self-administered at home, and not supervised live by a telehealth professional, are also not accepted. Where and When to Get Your Test Most local pharmacy chains offer COVID-19 Testing and most county or state websites can help you find a local public testing site. You can also go to a doctor’s office, diagnostic lab, or telehealth provider to get your test. Some additional things to keep in mind when scheduling your test: For sailings that require a pre-cruise test, the day you set sail is not included as one of the days unless the country of embarkation stipulates a test to be taken within 24 hours of arrival. For example, if you are setting sail on a Saturday and you are required to take your test 3 days in advance, you can take your test on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday before your sailing and for 2 days in advance you can take the test Thursday or Friday. Make sure that your selected test provider can provide you a valid results document in time for your travel. https://www.celebritycruises.com/healthy-at-sea/faqs From everything that you have described, it seems that your testing facility can easily meet these requirements.
  9. In addition to those avenues, you might want to post on the roll call and the Princess board asking anyone aboard to report this to guest services.
  10. NCL requires that you take the test "within two days prior to embarkation date for cruises originating in a U.S. or Canadian port". So you can take your test on Thursday or Friday for a Saturday embarkation. Enjoy!
  11. At the end of our last cruise pre-pandemic, my DW was hospitalized in Amsterdam, so I can appreciate the difficult time you are experiencing. I think that I can speak for all of us here on the Canadian Cruisers board when I say that our thoughts and prayers are there for both you and John. On a technical note, I think you'll find that you'll just need to start over with the trip information. ArriveCAN should retain your passport, vaccination and similar biodata.
  12. Testing on Friday will work with all cruiselines, but testing on Thursday will also work with many of them. Who are you sailing with?
  13. From the ArriveCAN website: If your travel details change before you enter Canada If you need to edit your information and have an ArriveCAN receipt, you need to start over and create a new submission. ArriveCAN will clear your previous information. I'm sorry to hear that John has been hospitalized. I hope that it isn't serious and that he will recover quickly.
  14. Can the member not book a date, then enter that date when checking in? Or will a future date not be accepted?
  15. CDC requirements for testing before flying into US. Other than the timing, the rest would apply: A test result must be in the form of written documentation (paper or digital copy). The documentation must include: Type of test (indicating it is a NAAT or antigen test) Entity issuing the result (e.g., laboratory, healthcare entity, or telehealth service) Sample collection date A negative test result must show the sample was taken no more than 1 day before the flight. A positive test result for documentation of recovery from COVID-19 must show the sample was taken within the 90 days before the flight. Information that identifies the person (full name plus at least one other identifier such as date of birth or passport number) Test result
  16. Requirements in Indiana may well be different, but here in Ontario the law requires that for your driver's license, you must update your address within 6 days. The fact that you might move again a year or so later has no bearing on the immediate requirement. I've never heard of HAL ever asking to see a driver's license. But if you change your address with HAL and with the BVM, they'll both match anyway.
  17. I would initiate all of my address changes just as I would if I wasn't cruising in 43 days. I can't think of any scenario where not doing so would lead to problems.
  18. Thanks, both for your very clear description and for the link. I wonder if in time this technology might be adopted by the airlines. It would certainly be welcome at Pearson!
  19. Primarily at Port Everglades. Rather than joining a long, snaking line with well over a hundred passengers, the priority line often has just another couple of passengers ahead of us. There was one cruise out of Miami which had a dedicated line when we disembarked, but I think it was a CBP trial run only. There's no time saving at check in using NEXUS, so after one cruise where the check in staff refused to accept our NEXUS cards for a Boston-Montreal sailing, we don't bother anymore. We always travel with our passports anyway, so no problem. I've not cruised out of Port Everglades since the pandemic, so I can't comment on the current situation.
  20. We enrolled in NEXUS back in 2013 and wouldn't do without it, even if it was solely for flying. I couldn't count the hundreds of hours waiting in lines that we've saved. For cruising it's been a mixed bag, but useful enough that I would renew just for cruising. As new technologies and programs are introduced, NEXUS may become less beneficial, but for the immediate future, we'll continue to renew.
  21. There are numerous websites, ranging from that of the local port authority to those like cruisemapper.com or cruisetimetables.com, that can provide information, very possibly more accurate than HAL's. On our last HAL cruise to Norway, for many weeks before the cruise the port authorities for Bergen and Trondheim showed us arriving at different terminals than shown on HAL's itinerary. In both cases, the terminal indicated by HAL were quite a distance from the one indicated by the port authority, necessitating a plan "A" and plan "B" for our days ashore in both cities. As it turned out, HAL's itinerary was wrong and the port authorities' information was correct.
  22. Passengers in transit to a foreign destination who remain within the secure area of the terminal to make their connecting flight don't need to make an ArriveCAN submission. In your case, IIRC, you are flying Air Canada from Texas and connecting to an Air Canada flight to Greece.
