  1. Depending on mobility we used the Bolt scooters to get around,we liked it because it costs less than a public transit ticket and we could take it right to the entrance. Once you start using it they gave us an option for a 24 pass. I I would recommend doing the tour of the Town Hall where they do the Pulitzer prize dinner (it's also the city goverment) and it's a short walk to the old town where the Palace and government office is (their version of the federal government- these tours are free). Vasa is in a separate area with a few other musuems. This is the one thing you have to do and if you do it right when it opens you wil l have an hour to enjoy it unencumbered before it gets crowded. If you have kids the nearby Viking museum is fun, it has a ride, but skip it your are adults. They have an open air park that was nice to see where the locals hang out near the Vasa. It was fun for the kids to play and have a snack, but it was during a heat wave when we visited, so we have up on it quickly. Grundalund theme park was also a good time if you like theme parks and roller coasters. We traveled with kids, but I really liked their theme park, so it was fun for adults too.
  2. Doing a MSC for three weeks this summer to both places, you can check what they offer for 2024.
  3. Rostock visitor information had a lot of advice. https://www.verkehrsverbund-warnow.de/en/holiday-leisure/sightseeing.html
  4. Scandic chain has family rooms, with 3 beds, but they are bunk beds.
  5. Us three it seems and that is it! Maybe a roll call will get more active when it gets closer.
  6. I loved my stroller but I just say ditch the stoller. At that age it is more of a hassel. Take a sitting break if they need it, but they can walk. Give them a backpack and they can carry their own stuff. Sudden!y the crayons, three stuffies and car toys aren't as necessary when they are responsible for lugging them around. Even at 6 our kids are to old for a stroller. I know you said it was for your comfort, but in Europe they are not built for access and they end up being more of a hindrance then a help. My twins stopped at four, only a trip to Disney warranted a stroller and even then we got rid of it at five. I think you made the right choice on taking the train.
  7. We got a deal, we have two kids and got the drink package and Fantastica experience balcony. The cruises for three weeks was less than a week on a Disney ship. Now if I could find reasonable airfare!
  8. We booked the cruise in July, not very many sailings so info is slim.
  9. Do you have insurance? No cruise line will refund you no matter the circumstances the day before, people lie and give sob stories all the time. Not to say you are, but they have a policy in place. If you do not sail you will lose the money. You can try , but it will depend on the terms and conditions at the time you booked, this late the only thing you will get back is possibly the port fees and taxes. I hope he is ok. My husband was in an accident this week, he was.ok and same problem with the car needing to be fixed. Sorry this happened, but it is what it is.
  10. I was interested in Saudi Arabia as a port. Can't wait to hear your thoughts.
  11. Unless you have everyone logged in information to book things in their cruise planner -I don't think you can. Maybe through a group manager?
  12. Hamburg is coming out cheaper for us and a little closer than Berlin. There also appears to be an area ticket for groups that makes the train 31€ for two versus around that price for one from Berlin. 2.5-3hrs with one stop in Rostock on the train.
  13. Another vote for Nordic Lights. Not too expensive, came with breakfast that was decent. Very convenient to Arlandia express. We took regular metro as we traveled with kids on Midsommer (which meant they were free) on the way in and it wasn't worth schelping the luggage farther through the airport to save a few dollars. Take the Arlandia express. The more people the cheaper the tickets. We stayed at Scandic Camper on the way in and loved the amenities of the hotel, the rooftop bar has amazing views, but you can't take kids up there. They have a pay for pool too. Their breakfast was amazing, too. Best hotel breakfast I ever had, in my opinion.
  14. We are doing Greenland next year with two kids (both will be 11). Anything particularly interesting for them? I am sure they would love playing with local kids if there is a park in the towns. Is the lake walk dangerous, such as cliffs or just a lot of work?
  15. You can combine some to form b2b or side2side ( when you change ships). It is too far out to find an itinerary, as 2024 is as far as they are going right now. We are doing MSC next summer and it is doing Greeland, Iceland and Scotland. You have a lot of time to plan, so I would research each port and make a top list, then when the itineraries come out you see which matches your top choices. Cost, time/date and ship will come into play. You may find two different cruise lines have a mix of what you want since you said the ship isn't important. Booking far out the ports may change so keep that in mind. Also, consider Embarkation port. If you want to do a pre or post cruise stay. I haven't done any yet so can't give an opinion, only Mediterranean and Baltic.
  16. Which cruise? We just booked an MSC for next July for the same area and my twins are 11 (by the time we sail). The longer the sailing the less kids, but they only have to make one friend to have a good time.
  17. I'm in the US so I think in fahrenheit. It was in the 80s, but all my research averaged mid- 70s. Last minute we threw in a pair of shorts and we ended up pretty much washing and wearing those everyday because it was warmer than I planned. That is the exception not the rule. Bring a jacket, but a winter coat I didn't find necessary, just a sweat shirt or sweater.I look At the weather about 2 weeks before but when I looked at it the day before we left- I saw that it was supposed to be warmer and threw in the shorts last minute. So really look in the last week to see what the weather prediction is or you will end up like me, unprepared.l it was end of June and July. We arrived on midsummer left midJuly. Visby isn't very large so there isn't much to do. See the old town, cliff walk or go see the caves is my recommendation.
  18. We went in the summer. We had two kids and did a free walking tour we found online, no people just a map with descriptions. There was a free walking tour I saw advertised at the visitor information in town. Two or three times as I recall. It is about a mile walk from port to town, all flat or you can use the nice pedestrian path on the hill. There were bikes to rent, which also would have been a good way to see the area, but one of my kids is just an ok bike rider. We walked the city, saw the many church Ruins and he a drinking share of literally inside some ruins. We saw the advertised botanica! Garden, free entry, but it wasn't that impressive except, we were hot and the sprinklers were on in some areas,so we just had to walk through them to cool off. A beautiful park in the middle of town, near the water if you have kids. The university library is right there so we got a coffee, too! A Fika is necessary in Sweden.(It basically means a drink and something to eat with friends as I understand the translation). Easy to walk around and see everything, if mobility is an issue I would get a cab to town because once inside the medieval section no tour can help as you have to walk to get around on the cobblestone streets.
  19. We did a Baltic with 10 year old twins this past summer. They had a heat wave with record temperatures, we were hoping for cool weather so you never know. If you Google the ports and the things to do , and do a separate search with things to do with kids you may find your answer. Where do they leave from? Week g some pre or post cruise we days may help your decision.
  20. They even ask question number 3 of children, I got it once for my daughter, but not my son. They are twins so the same age. No, my minor is not pregnant. I believe it was the cruise when they were eight.
  21. Thank you for the feedback. My grandmother passed away this year and she was his primary caregiver and now I am taking over his care. I would be going with my husband, two kids, another uncle I care for ( though he is a lot less work!) and my mom so I would have help. I do the showering and what I fondly call the " fun stuff". I have another Aunt and Uncle who help me out, but I am not sure they would do a cruise. They both have birthdays at the end of the year so I thought a cruise for their birthday would be fun and a nice treat. Disney Cruise Line would be in town around then and I think that would be a great experience, but a lot of $$$. I can do a week for the same cost as the 4 day, but a 4 day may be enough!
  22. I have done many cruise, just not with him. He is developmentally about 3 years. I was thinking the same thing to do a 3/4 day first.
  23. We had kids so took the commuter train to the central ststion. It was such a pain and really didn't save much money ( kids free on the weekend). We took the Arlanda train back, so easy and convenient. Just do the Arlanda Express. We stayed at Nordic Light and while a solid hotel it was literally steps away from the Arlanda Express. We stayed at Scandic Camper on the way in. We liked the Camper better but it was about $80 more per night. Scenic had amazing coffee and a wonderful breakfast spread.
  24. We rented a car and went to see the same museum, it is in a very nice National Park area with biking and hiking trails. We Googled and found a hotel, with a cafe that had a nice lake beach that rented paddle boats, we would have partaken if we weren't wearing jeans. We stopped at some pretty scenic stop markers along the way back too.
  25. We just got back and on the weekends in Stockholm and Visby they do medieval knight fight games for kids. My ten year old twins loved it. We saw an add while in Fishy at the tourist off ice. It was held in Stockholm at the park right across from the cruise terminal. Skansen was nice, reminded me of an outdoor fair with aquarium and zoo. I would also recommend the Vasa, good two hour visit, we spent three as we did the English tour and my husband took his sweet time.... Gröna Lund amusement park was really fun. The Palace and Queens Palace had a scavenger hunt that kept them busy while we toured too. We were there pre-cruise and embarked in Stockholm so we had a lot of time to explore Stockholm. Helsinki go to Linnanmaki amusement park-they have a roller coaster with brakemasters! Very unique
