  1. I’m a big Disney fan. Own the timeshare to prove it. Had a great DCL cruise, but didn’t find it any more special than RCI and other mainstream lines. Certainly nothing that justifies the price difference.
  2. They can mix the ingredients, but they won’t have the right cup. And without the right cup, is it really a mint julep?
  3. I try to have a positive attitude and not sweat the small stuff, but I can’t help but find something (usually minor) negative on every cruise.
  4. Speaking just for myself, Meclizine works wonders keeping me from feeling seasick, even in the roughest of seas. I’d rather take medication and not have to worry, rather than trying to plan a cruise or pick a cabin hoping to minimize movement.
  5. Sometimes you are just pissed off and want to complain. No, it probably won’t do any good. But when things aren’t right, you want to say (or write) something rather than just grin and take it.
  6. If I’m alive, I picture myself thinking that 79 degrees is a bit too chilly to venture out. I’ll just sit on my balcony wrapped in a blanket.
  7. I don’t have any good suggestions, but I feel there’s a joke here somewhere. A family member a friend and a priest walk into a Polish bar…
  8. Back when I lived in the big city, we’d sometimes want to go visit something in one of the dodgy neighborhoods. We’d go on a weekday morning. You know what goes on in dodgy neighborhoods on a weekday morning? People going to work. Grandmothers out doing their shopping. Kids in playgrounds. Joggers. Etc.
  9. we break that stuff out only if there is an art auction going on.
  10. It will look something like this
  11. That’s how my parents were. Like many aspects of an “old fashioned marriage” it seemed a bit off to me, but it worked for them. Happily married 50+ years.
  12. For fun, you should switch. See how it turns out.
  13. They question isn’t whether e-muster provides the level of education you expect. The question is whether it does a worse job than in-person. I guess (just a guess) that if you asked people five days after an in-person muster drill what deck their muster station was on, a lot of them wouldn’t know.
  14. I’m not a fan of the job he’s done as CEO, but that’s a cool story. Anyone know if/when mainstream cruise lines will return to Cuba?
  15. From a corporate standpoint, service cuts are good. Something to be rewarded.
  16. Cruise line listens to customers. Makes change for the better. What a concept! And now I grab my big bucket o popcorn and wait for the posts saying we are all going to die because of this.
  17. I’ve been doing some math. It looks like there are two options - get sick, don’t get sick. That makes the odds of getting sick exactly 50%, no? Anyway, I’m sure anyone who ever had norovirus or similar that may have come from a cruise will be very cautious going forward. And I don’t blame them.
  18. Was there any sort of fun ritual?
  19. My brother’s family has two sides. One likes to make sure that everyone has coordinated outfits. For the pictures you know. The other side wants to kill the first side 🙂. So much fun (for me, not for my brother) traveling with the gang.
  20. Cue the King of the Hill episode when Hank - honest to a fault - tells the gate agent than no, he did not pack his own bag.
  21. Microwave in the sushi bar? That’s just wrong
  22. I’m guessing what you are thinking of are drinks that go over the $15 limit. If the drink is $17, you are charged $2 for the overage, plus $0.40 as a mandatory 20% service charge on the $2.
  23. So you always use a straw?
