  1. How do you get into the cruise terminal if you don't have a smartphone and you are picking up Medallion at the port, Brooklyn in our case? We just called the Princess call center and was routed to Phillipines. The representative had no idea what we were talking about and could not communicate in English in a clear manner. So, so sad. Thank you in advance.
  2. You might recompute your math. NCL charges a higher base fare just for the right to have the opportunity to have a drink package. Then they charge $21.80 per person per day for drink package service charge, plus the current $20 per person per day DSC. For $60, all included with Princess and the beverage package is far more inclusive on Princess. Plus, we use our TA OBC and shareholder onboard credit to offset part of the cost of the Princess package onboard. You can't do that on NCL. It really is no more expensive on Princess. It is all in the confusing marketing.
  3. Yes, they know about and refuse to do anything about it. Very inconsiderate. If everyone acted like NCL does, I'd have hundreds of triplicate emails every day to sort through. Fortunately, the majority of senders are more considerate and professional. Most will take corrective action once an issue presents itself. Haven't seen that and really wouldn't expect it from NCL, though. So sad.
  4. Pre COVID on Escape...festive atmosphere, overall. Thriller dance class Halloween movie Halloween display with carved pumpkins in buffet. Evening costume party at spice with a couple themed drinks Haunted house walk through in the smaller supper club/dinner theater.
  5. Correction. Expiration is 4 years, not 2 years from purchase date.
  6. Yawn, is anyone surprised, anymore? As long as they say they are committed to delivering exceptional vacation experiences and it is always their intention to maintain original itineraries......boy those phrases sure have been overused over the past few months. At the end of the day who really cares what they are committed to and what their intentions might be. That's just word salad. All people care about is what have you done for me lately?
  7. I'll pass on enjoying wine onboard NCL ships at those menu prices. I can enjoy fine wines at fair prices the other 11 months of the year when I am not on an NCL ship. Their printed menu prices are comical.
  8. I don't think so. My intention is to provide accurate information and education about economic risks of booking early to the general population. I don't get lost in the weeds with the situation at hand. As suggested, you can ask the OP directly. I'm moving on to the next topic again with the intention of education.
  9. But how is it different from the local retail store price match guarantee that says find a lower advertised from us or any other competitor within 90 days and we will price match? Maybe not common in the car industry in your example. I am not saying NCL should do this. I am just pointing out that price match guarantees do exist and could cause an uninformed cruiser to rightly or wrongly expect a cruise line to do the same. Some people come on here and start blasting the poster... You booked this, you were happy, you didn't read the print, yada yada, no kidding!!! Just amazes me.
  10. I have no idea. That is a question for them. Maybe they saw posts on this forum recommending to book early. 🤷 Hopefully, the economic risks of booking early are now clear to them.
  11. They paid more than they thought they should. End of story.
  12. They post certainly were penalized. They incurred a monetary penalty by paying too much for their cruise. Never book early. Be flexible, be indifferent about cabin location. Get a better shot at sailing the published itinerary. Sail 3x more often. Then they can laugh all the way to the bank knowing they got the absolute rock bottom pricing. Cheers!!
  13. Sorry to hear this. I wonder why this is happening? We are still awaiting the announcement about what innovative, cutting edge shows are replacing all the musicals they are cutting from the existing lineup. Don't worry though, there are a lot of comedy shows lined up....lol.
  14. The thread that had all that info has been deleted by the forum due to copyright infringement. Sorry I could not help more.
  15. Me either. In fact, 2024 has been released already. Something isn't quite right with this announcement. I thought I had heard they had record bookings, record yields, record occupancy for 2023 and forward. Now, 2024 is expected to be behind 2019.
  16. Yeah, I often times see posts from folks who are upset that they can't get a price match after final payment, so in the interest of full disclosure....
  17. No worries. The thread was deleted in the name of copyright infringement. NCLH said it is focusing on what they call longer, more immersive itineraries while the other two are focused on US based shorter sailings, ie 4-7 day Bahamas, Caribbean from Florida. As a result of the longer, more immersive itineraries, NCLH has cautioned that their occupancy rates will not be as high as originally forecast . Stock is off 15% or so since the announcement.
  18. Ahh, thank you for the explanation. It was a good thread, with spirited debate about NCLH current strategy, which differs from that of their two main competitors.
  19. I don't believe they allow unlimited price adjustments after final payment. If you only want minimum rate interior room, don't care about cabin location and can be very flexible in your travel plans, booking last minute is the way to go for NCL. We've spent 22+ days per year on cruise ships for what some people pay for a 7 days cruise.
  20. Wow, sorry to read about this. We've always found the onboard stores reps to be hustlers, and this confirms our belief. Hopefully, this will help someone who is considering a purchase from the onboard stores.
  21. Agree with this. Plus, February is "sea fog" season down in Galveston. Fog often contributes to delayed debarkation. I would not use the NCL transfer service. They use 50 person coaches and won't depart for the airport until they are reasonably full. Not a good plan for a 1215 flight.
  22. This has to be one of the most ridiculous fees I've ever seen. These cruise lines continue to invent silly ways to soak the customer for more and more money at every turn. You'd need an advanced degree to understand which fare is charged a fee, based on which method you choose to order. Very very sad. We continue to reach new lows.
  23. So often, we can't get the soap dispensers to even dispense soap. Those touchless dispensers they have are a great idea, but if the sensor doesn't work, it is a problem. We also regularly observe a lack of hot water in most restroom sinks.
  24. It has been reported that NCL had filed a trademark for Bella a few years ago, so he is likely correct on the naming. I think they also filed for Luna (moon) and Aqua (water) in a previous year.
