  1. We have not cruised RC yet, but our niece and nephew just boarded the Adventure of the Seas in Galveston for their first cruise. We've only cruised Carnival so we gave them lots of general advice but did tell them they shouldn't need to spend money on food unless they wanted too. So, they are onboard now and were told that the free food options wouldn't be available until 5pm. Is that really correct? We're used to free food from several locations on Carnival upon boarding. Maybe they asked the wrong person or phrased the question improperly. Anyway, just curious.
  2. The Ecstasy was the first cruise together for my wife and I. We had a great time, we ran into her in port in Progresso. It was so TINY (we were on the Breeze)!!! I don't even remember it being that small, lol.
  3. They run from $0.75 to $2.00. So, it can add up quickly, especially since they have a lot of "one and done" prize games in addition to the actual arcade video games. More info CLICK HERE.
  4. Thank the maker that cruises out of Galveston also serve Dr. Pepper!!! My excitement about taking our next cruise with free Cheers! is tempered by the fact that no one ever in the history of mankind has walked up to a bar and said "Jack and Pepsi please..." "Crown and Pepsi please..." "Sierra mist and Seven please..."Mountain dew and anything..." 😁🤔😮😭 But at least I can get a Dr Pepper, lol. May still have to bring a couple of twelve packs of coke and sprite and mix shots!
  5. Dang! Didn't realize it was "off the menu". We try to take it on any new ship and we finally booked the Vista and were looking forward to it.
  6. Breeze had the "new" fries on our last cruise. Not bad, just different. We've actually noticed a shortage in fries when we go grocery shopping. Seems strange, but fries, tots, has browns always out of stock.
  7. Actually, it's the February 4th sailing. I put the wrong date in the original post.
  8. We finally booked a cruise on the Vista (which is leaving Galveston next year to make way for the Jubilee). We've been to Cozumel more times than we can count so we just wander about for local food and drinks there. The rest of this itinerary is new to us with Mahogany Bay and Belize. This is late February/Early March if that makes a difference. We finally got the Cheers offer and we've wanted to book the Vista since it arrived, so we're excited to combine the two! Looking for excursion recommendations (Official Carnival or Third Party). We enjoy ruins, snorkeling/adventure and food! We don't really care for shopping or beach clubs.
  9. Maybe we've just been lucky, but we've only done 5 cruises, so maybe it's just a matter of time. The main reason I asked specifically about the Liberty is because I've seen it mentioned on more than one occasion.
  10. So, we have a free Cheers/Bottomless Bubbles offer and since Galveston cruises seem to only go on sale once a year, we are looking at cruising out of Orlando. We've been on the Liberty before when it was in Galveston with no issue, but keep seeing threads and posts (elsewhere) about the sewage smell on the lower decks. Is this a prevalent issue or just occasional? Anyone whose dealt with it, have you ever gotten an explanation and or compensation for dealing with it? The best deals seem to all be on the Liberty, but we are hesitant to book because of the recent smell issues.
  11. Dr Pepper Products are also available if you are cruising out of Galveston (the Vista's current home).
  12. We have a VIFP offer that includes Cheers/Bottomless Bubbles and I was curious if the Cheers program started at 6am day after departure for ports outside of Texas?? We're looking at super cheap itineraries departing from Florida and California ports. Also, with bottomless bubbles I know that Carnival is Pepsi (YUCK!!!) but they have Dr Pepper at least for departures from Galveston, do they do this for other ports too?
  13. So, what are ya'll told about the smell? Any compensation offered?
  14. It does have an adults only area at the aft of the ship. Small pool and hot tubs. It's not covered in any way so yes, it does get sun.
  15. Well, I'll be on the Breeze tomorrow! So maybe there will be some talk onboard.
  16. Agreed, but 27 tourists at one time is fairly newsworthy compared to the normal purse snatching of a single tourist.
  17. I would think a robbery of this size involving tourists would be newsworthy. Maybe the person the OP ran into that related the story was misunderstood??
  18. Anyone have luck finding a link to verify/get details? Nothing but older articles (and a link to this discussion)pop up.
  19. I understand that, and read it in this thread, but my point (for ME and MY WIFE) is that we would get WAY more use out of a Soda/Coffee card than Cheers. Now, if they would only ditch Pepsi for REAL sodas we'd buy Bubbles now, lol. BTW, I don't believe for one minute that doing that would make the cost that high. I do however, believe that they WOULD jack up the price that high.
  20. The "All you can ____" model is a profit winner for pretty much any entity that offers it. From Disney Dining Packages to those City Passes that include entry to dozens of attractions to All you can drink Sodas at Six Flags. While there are folks who do their due diligence to make sure they at least break even most do not and just like the thought of it. The cost to the company is minimal since the buy what they are offering in bulk. We tried the dining plan at Disney once and it was WORK to break even, I cannot imagine trying to come out ahead on that deal. Forcing drink plans on all adults pretty much assures that they will always come out ahead even if one person maxes it out each day. My wife and I don't drink enough to justify it, but if they moved the non-alcoholic drinks included in Cheers to the Bottomless Bubbles program we'd be all over that.
  21. Don't forget to bring the straw(s) of your choice. Carnival is using godawful "sugar" straws. We're bringing stainless straws sized for our tumbler (we have smaller ones) and one for use in the main dining room.
  22. So I cam up with a solution to my foo foo coffee problem, lol. Tasters Choice Hazlenut packets ($3.50 for 15) mixed with hot cocoa=delicious! No cream or sugar needed above whatever is already in it.
  23. I don't know how it is where ya'll are, but fries/tots/frozen potatos are in oddly short supply at least in our area (Houston). Could be supply issues and going with what's available as far as frozen products.
