  1. I have heard of people removing tips. I wonder how common this is. I think that is so despicable and selfish.
  2. Unfortunately, cleaning the dog potty area is probably not as gross as cleaning the human restrooms. 😝
  3. Ok, good for you. But, I'm just asking a question because I'm curious. No other reason. BTW, it has no bearing on the tip I leave. I still typically tip 20%
  4. That's not quite true. Speaking as someone who was a server. Our tips were divided with the hostess. Working in a small restaurant with mo hostess, I kept the entire tip. I don't see the harm in asking where OUR money is being distributed.
  5. It doesn't matter. Like the thread title says, I'm curious. That's how we learn things, we ask questions.
  6. Does anyone know what the break down of tips are as to who gets what and how much? I wonder what percentage the cabin steward gets. We usually give an extra 20 or 30 at the end of the cruise.
  7. I'm a Georgia Girl, too! The worse thing my mother every said was damn. My father wasn't much of a cusser, either. That is how I was raised.
  8. Obsenties are more and more accepted these days. We keep lowering and lowering the bar until the bar is flat on the ground. I beleive there is a time and place for "language" (guilty here). But using vulgar language in everyday speech is what my sweet southern mother would say is "commom". I once heard my neighbor tell her boyfriend that she loved him with all her f*%#ing heart. What? Really? I would be so insulted if someone told me that. But that's just me.
  9. We like the flexibility of YTD, but the tables are so close together, you get the feeling you're still dinning with others. The good side is you can start up a conversation or not and not be considered a snob if you don't.
  10. Oh man, I hate to hear they are gone. We used to use the coffee delivery as our wake up call.
  11. We booked with a $200 OBC. Not sure we want to give that up.
  12. We like to be as high and forward as possible. All we could get this time was deck 9 forward. Since the cruise is a year out, I was wondering if I should call periodically to see if anything higher has opened.
  13. Has anyone changed their cabins after booking? Is this even possible?
  14. We've been on several different ships and have enjoyed them all. We do have favorites, Breeze and Magic. Mainly because of the Cloud 9 spa with the large hydrotherapy pool and thermal suites. But that won't keep us from booking other ships with the itinerary and port we like. We're trying a new ship, Vista, this time. We picked this cruise because we like the port, Port Canveral, and the itinerary, Eastern Caribbean. I guess we're pretty flexible.
  15. I'll turn platinum on our upcoming cruise. I did not know swapping out for cookies was an option. We've have the chocolate delight before and were not impressed.
  16. Since we are talking about the platinum party...sorry I don't mean to high jack your thread. I'm guessing non platinum/diamond spouse can't go to the party. It'll be 4 years since we've cruised and wondered if anything has changed.
  17. Absolutely!. I'm no prude and have been know to drop an F bomb here and there. But you have to know your audience. It's never out of style to be respectful of your surroundings and people.
  18. It was the Celebration that got me hooked on sailing.
  19. I've only cruised one 5 fay cruise. We prefer 7 and 8. You don't have to cruise on a mega ship for 7 and 8 day cruises. BTW, I was not a fan of the Fantasy class ships. No balconies on some and after market balconies on others.
  20. I have been on 11 Carnival cruises and I have never experienced any of this. There were some rowdy kids in the canin next to is once, but it didn't last long. We have never seen any fights or even any objectionable behavior. Yes, some rude actions in the buffet, but nothing I haven't seen else where. Just a note, we always sail out of Port Canaveral, Lauderdale and Miami. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
  21. Again, it seems like there is something amiss with you if you don't like the mega ships. Can't we all just get along? 🙂🙃
  22. I don't feel like I need to be doing something all the time while on the ship. I love being on my balcony, reading or having coffee/drink. Spending quiet time with the hubs while listening to the water and watching for flying fish. I don't need a big ship to do that. I feel like I have to justify preferring smaller ships. Everyone has their preference and that's ok.
  23. I can appreciate the openness of some venues, but that doesn't do anything about the size and number of people. I just seem to prefer the 'coziness' of the non mega ships and I think that's ok.
