  1. Man, and this was supposed to be the summer when the Alaska travel industry got back on it's feet. Is the cruise portion still on?
  2. Sounds like they are asking you be "voluntarily bumped" . There are no specific rules for compensation in the cruise industry like the airline industry. I would ask for a full cash refund and a 100% FCC. If they really need the space they will make a deal with you Since the rules have changed for airlines and all the bad PR they had suffered, getting bumped from a flight can be a lucrative experience if your travel schedule permits it. Good Luck, Paul
  3. https://www.wesh.com/article/carnival-cruise-fire/40115680 I would think the rest of the cruise is cancelled and the Freedom will have to undergo emergency repairs at a nearby shipyard. Maybe Nassau? That's why they drill, fire out, ship saved, no injuries. -Paul
  4. So far the Casino Cabins I've booked are guaranteed HH (Fully Obstructed by a life boat) and a VH ( partial obstructed verandah) I've always gotten the guaranteed cabin category or better when assigned. -Paul
  5. I want to do the 9 day Canada and East Coast, Montreal to FLL on the Volendam on 10/1/2022. I haven't gotten permission from wife to book yet. Maybe Fla-gal can help explain the numbers to her. Attached is the PDF list of cruises. -Paul HEP2226CO_SAILINGS_USD.pdf
  6. Well that didn't work. Just log in and go to the first screen of available cruises don't selected any destination. the 2nd cruise on my first line shows a 7 day Eastern Caribbean on 10-22 for $200. That is the casino offer fare. Click it to see what and upgrade is. Remember the $200 fare becomes a $200 OBC so you are only paying taxes and fees to cruise if you choose a $200 cabin. -Paul
  7. I can find them, I just have to scroll through all the $200 OV fares on the HAL website when I log in. Still it would be easier with a list of the eligible cruises. Maybe it's coming. The last offer ends May 27 so maybe they are a little early with the email. -Paul
  8. hmm.. I just got 3 card monty'd by HAL. I was on my phone checking email and saw a new Playcus offer for an OV+$500 free play + drinks in the casino. So I went to my PC to check it out and it's not in my inbox, and it's disappeared from my phone. This happened at about 10:10 am Pacific time. Could HAL have recalled the email? -Paul
  9. I agree good, cases on the rise again and most likely will continue to rise through the summer. If you are over 50 get your 2nd booster.
  10. Just got off a 7 day Alaska cruise RT Vancouver and I sailed 3 times in the Fall of 2021 and here are some things that made HAL unique that I'm convinced will never return to a Covid-19 cruise world. Covid-19 is not over so I won't call it post-covid-19 world. 1. Turn down evening service. In fact our cabin stewards did not work in tandem on my most recent cruise but instead split up so they could clean more cabins faster. 2. Hors d'oeurves during happy hours or even a jar of peanuts. And Happy hour was not every day on my last cruise but did happen every day on my Fall cruises 3.The Yum-Yum man after dinner in the MDR 4.Lobster tails at least once every 7 days in the MDR using during a Gala night menu. (This might be a supply chain issue) I know these are PPP (Priviledged Persson Problems) in our current world, but they were nice touches that made HAL seem special to me over it's competition. Happy Tuesday, Paul
