  1. Seas are usually calm unless you are going in November and there is any weather from a nearby Eastern Pacific (East PAC) tropical system. You can check this on the National Hurricane Center's webpage, click on the Eastern Pacific tab. -Paul
  2. are you going during a school break like Fall, Winter or Spring Break? If so they will have more teens onboard to make friends and do things with. They also have a place for them to hangout with activities.
  3. the 4 star and 5 star mariner laundry benefit. Once you get this perk it will help you from overpacking for any length of cruise.
  4. well back in the good old days I always got double suite credits for an upgrade, but I haven't taken in upgrade offers since pre-covid days. Half the time I now sail solo since I'm retired and the wife still works. I'm happy with a free OV casino offer no matter where it's going.
  5. How long is the cruise? The Vista and up all get double suite mariner credit if you are getting close to earning another star.
  6. I agree the CS/Front Desk staff shouldn't have to deal with IT questions. Have dedicated IT staff do that. A good CS transaction should only take a few minutes, not 10-15 minutes to teach someone how to use their $1200 phone.
  7. Live piano music in the Ocean Bar everyday from 4-6pm, hot Hors d'oeuvre during those hours too. Those 2 things would go a long way to bring some class back to HAL
  8. Just got a private sale email that list all of the 2022/23 Caribbean season which made up the bulk of the last 2 Casino Fare offers. So maybe that's where they went. I do think it's poor business to send a communication that an offer last until 09/15 or 10/15 and then not offer it. I'm sure it said "While supply lasts" but still..... -Paul
  9. when they sell out the cabins for the casino fares I would think you can no longer book them.
  10. In general I've found HAL casinos to be the opposite of crowded. The only time I've been in a crowded HAL casino is during a casino tournament cruise when lots of the passengers are on special discounted or free casino fares.
  11. in my experience the offers with a free room do not charge a single supplement. The offers that have a reduced fare do. The last casino offer I booked which I'm bringing the wife, my PCC asked if we both wanted our own cabin, since she had a matching offer. So I guess we could have both gone solo for the same price. -Paul
  12. Yes, we have done this if you can't do it online call your PCC
  13. I cancelled a flight ease segment that was on a guaranteed fare and my PCC said it would take about 2 weeks to appear as an FCC. Is 2 weeks to post still the norm? She said the "Cancel for any reason" promise covers it and is good through the end of 2022. -Paul
  14. the PCC office # is 1-800-355-3017, asked to be assigned one. have your mariner # ready. They work M-F normal business hours Pacific time.
  15. you need to be on the Club 21 email list. You can also try calling you PCC with the current campaign code : HEP22337CO, program: UYA, this new offer expires on 09/09/22
  16. Here is the list of the 2023 cruises that came out today. HEP2237CO_SAILINGS_USD.pdf
  17. https://crew-center.com/search-overboard-crew-member-ms-koningsdam-called Sad story, we were on her in May and will be again in December
  18. It's a smaller ship and a popular cruise since it goes up into the Sea of Cortez, not surprising if all the verandah's and Suites are sold out
  19. Is this possible or does it have to be used on a new booking?
  20. But with $5 table limits you can buy in for $200 and if you just break even you can spend an hour or more gambling. Your card is swiped when you sit down at a table too.
  21. Yes, I've been told time spent is more important then money spent by land based casino staff too, Most recently, the Atlantis Reno, NV.
  22. Bingo is run by the Casino Staff and prize money is handled by the Casino department. So if you play every session and get the $59 tablet, that comes with the bonus 3 card and bonus scratcher it might be enough gambling to get a casino cruise offer. I use to play the 6 card for $29 but casino staff convinced of better results with the tablet (36 cards) and I've been winning more at bingo. Also you should get a mariner point for every night spent in a HAL cabin on a HAL cruise regardless of how the cabin is payed for. Maybe they didn't have your mariner #? I would investigate. And you don't get mariner credits for money played in the casino. If that was the case I would be 5 stars by now, instead of 4. -Paul
