  1. RCI is currently running all of their ships and said they would like to operate at 110% capacity. How would that work? Would some people just have to take a stranger into their cabin to sleep on sofa sleeper or murphy bed? The cruise lines are too thirsty right now for customers and it shows. -Paul
  2. yea I just went through all of mine for Oct-Dec, and marked them as a favorite. Wife says I can't book until the last day June 30, because that's when I come back from my Reno trip. I have to be responsible there to get a casino cruise in the Fall. Wish me Luck and Will Power, P.
  3. yea great because access to all forms of gambling is what you really need on a cruise where the purpose is relaxation. I'll be up until 4 in the morning on the Surf Wifi trying to see if my 3 leg parlay with the 3rd leg being a cricket match in India came through!
  4. Wow, and it's an OBC every time you cruise?
  5. how much of that junk, penny CCL stock do you need to own to get the OBC? It's down to $8 and change now.
  6. I have a relative who works for a slot company in South Dakota, servicing the Indian Casinos and the ones in Deadwood. He says the Deadwood Casinos are the lowest payback in the US at around 85%. I think Vegas is about 90% on the strip and about 94-95% off strip and downtown. Reno claims to have the loosest at about a 95-96% payback. Even gamblers don't go on cruises expecting to find loose slots. So stick to your budget and have fun, you might get lucky but don't count on it. -Paul
  7. I think they are in the 87% range. Which I think is the lowest they can go just by the random number generator algorithms. Having said that I've had better luck on slots then at the tables my last few cruises. When you get a run of cold cards it's no fun. -Paul
  8. I've seen TV ads in years past, good to know they have enough money to spend on advertising
  9. They is a story in the WSJ today about how cruise pricing is "lost at Sea" but I don't subscribe so I can't read it. Here it is: https://vigourtimes.com/cruise-line-pricing-is-lost-at-sea/
  10. Selling Seabourn at a good price I think would help the CCL umbrella. Being that it is the only luxury line they have it's kind of out of place in the family. They could then concentrate on improving all the mass market brands.
  11. I filled out the survey today. so maybe my free offer is forthcoming?
  12. refunds for deposits are always processed fast. If you had bought anything else for that cruise like a shore ex or drink package it would take longer.
  13. Our house is going to get a major remodel that might take 6 weeks, so with any luck I can be away from all that noise.
  14. Yea once I transfer to the Nieuw Standendam I see an Opportunity of doing 4 Back to Backs on her using the Casino special. So a possibility of 49 days at Sea for the admission price of taxes and fees.
  15. Has anyone done this? Thinking of Eurodam Panama Canal 10-8 to 10-29 ending in FLL, then getting on to the Nieuw Standendam doing a 7 day Caribbean leaving on 10-29 from FLL. Both would be Casino offers so 28 days at sea for taxes and fees and you get to experience 2 different ships. -Paul
  16. https://financenews.upexampaper.com/cruise-stocks-may-face-trouble-as-demand-seems-to-be-eroding-bofa-more-finance-news/ Inflation and Covid. I've noticed at least a 30-40% increase in airfare, hotels seem to have gone up by that much too. I never pay retail for a cruise, I don't think anybody does so it's hard for me to gauge the increase in cruise fares. -Paul
  17. on a 7 day cruise I usually wager between $1500-$2000 for the entire cruise .Split between machines and tables. I also play Bingo which is run by the Casino department.
  18. the October 13 day Baltic gems looks the most appealing to me. The Northern Isles too, but that is just 2 weeks away.
  19. Well I think I've helped pay for some drydocks over the years.
  20. This came in today. For me it's a free Verandah, $500 free play and drinks in the Casinos. Judging by the offers I would say Alaska trips sailing out of Vancouver are not selling very well. -Paul HEP2228CO1_SAILINGS_USD1.pdf
  21. so you are on your own once the northbound cruise docks in Whitter? Likewise you need to meet the ship there to head southbound if your land tour was cancelled.
  22. I remember talking to a Denali lodge worker and he said he and 4 of his college buddies drive up from Georgia the day after classes end in the Spring, work all Summer at the lodge and then drive back to Georgia together for the Fall Semester. All 5 of them shared a 2BR apartment. It's not a glamorous summer work job by any measure. -Paul
  23. I think the company is in disarray. Both shoreside and onboard. On our K-dam cruise in May the musicians said they had all been hired the week before, didn't know each other and told to start playing together for shows the first day onboard. All of them had short-term 4 week contracts and none of them where interested in working with HAL beyond their contracts. -Paul
