  1. If I am not interested in any of the entrees, I will sometimes order all appetizers for dinner. Also, the vegan menu has great offerings some nights. Also, I almost always order the fruit and cheese plate as a "floater" appetizer, meaning I nibble on it throughout dinner.
  2. I've been with Royal Caribbean for 50 years this coming October. I STILL ask almost every time I get to the pier. This is because different embarkation ports have different policies, and RCCL is not the best at communicating changes.
  3. EXACTLY THIS!! My deceased husband was a very highly certified mechanic. He always told me "you don't see any old mechanics". Anyone who works in a profession requiring heavy lifting, repetitive hand, arm, leg motions, gets joint and/or arthritis issues earlier than the average person. My husband (at my insistence) retired at age 52. On a personal note: I greatly appreciate someone helping me with my luggage, and they get tipped.
  4. I don't think you will have much noise coming from the casino. It's being above the music venues that are the problem, IMO. If you cannot change your room, take soft foam earplugs.
  5. You're right. I thought I read somewhere they gave 2 drinks to lower levels, but I guess not. My bad.
  6. Think of all the time I saved you.....!!!😄
  7. The new rollover times for the drink vouchers is now 5am to 4:59am the next day.
  8. Diamond lounges are still on ships, it the Concierge lounges that have had a change in access: D+ are no longer allowed to use the Concierge lounges. Vouchers are loaded to your account each day for a certain number of drinks up to $14 each. This is according to your Crown and Anchor membership level, and the number is from 2 - 6 daily. "Daily" is until 5am each day. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/crown-anchor-society/program-updates
  9. Everyone has their own comfort zone, and don't like the features they enjoy being eliminated. I can empathize with that, but not agree. On most ships, I find little difference between the CL and DL. Actually, on some ships the DL is better. The Enchantment is a good example. The CL is enclosed, and can get very warm with the large windows. The DL is open to the bar below, and has great views out the huge windows there. I prefer to go to a bar away from the centrum on most ships, as the noise factor is pretty bad, so I appreciate access to a quieter venue for drinks in the evening. I'm sure there are other features that appeal to other passengers, too. My point is it's a matter of personal preference, and we all have those. I will always have a large tolerance for change with RCCL, as they are my favorite, their loyalty program better than any other cruise line IMO, and their pricing for solo cruisers is great. You get some really significant perks at the higher levels of the C&A program for just booking cabins and sailing. No extra cost to get there. Princess, on the other hand, drives me nuts with their levels attainable by either number of cruises OR number of days.
  10. I love these min-wallets I can attach to lanyards. Since I use them every day at home, I had to get sturdy ones that would accommodate what I mentioned above. The window card slot for my DL is really nice. If it was just cruising, I'd be hitting the Dollar Store for their lanyards, too!
  11. Thank you! I am on the Anthem in a few months, and won't bother to ask; I'll just put it in the mini-wallet.
  12. It's the Oakland airport I'm referring to, and it happened with my meds once on the way home. So, I easily replaced them. After that incident, I take them in my carry-on tote bag. But, I've had other miscellaneous items taken, or my bag obviously rummaged through on other occasions. The weirdest was when a crown popped off a tooth the last day of a cruise. It was in my checked bag, which had been opened. I figure someone was using a metal detector looking for jewelry, and the metal in the crown set it off. Well, obviously they did NOT want that.
  13. When I get my card punched I point to where I want the punch to go. I wear a lanyard everywhere with a slim card-sized wallet on it. I take these on cruises with me, but sometimes on board a ship I just want the room card with me, and not the wallet (which goes in the cabin safe). At home it's great to wear my car keys, as I have banished purses from my life. These mini-wallets are great for DL, and about 3 cards. The side zipper pocket can hold 10 bills folded in half.
  14. My luggage was locked, and the lock had obviously been tampered with. Jewelry and money always in my tote bag, but now my meds, too. It was no big loss: I just replaced the medications. I don't take anything that anyone else would be interested in.
  15. Yes, they are now in my tote bag. And, thank you for your public service to me and the other posters on this thread. Nice to know you have our backs, and can educate us on the error of our ways.
  16. All I can say is I've been cruising with RCCL, Princess, HAL, and Celebrity for 50 years this coming October, and never once had my bag stolen, lost, or not delivered. I'll just keep smiling big, hand over the bag, and give them a tip, thanking them for taking care of it for me. However, don't get me started on the OAK baggage handlers. There's one common denominator to the theft of my prescription medications and miscellaneous items. That would be coming in or out of OAK.
  17. HAL has more creative itineraries, and it's a much quieter and sedate experience. They have one of my favorites: the Sea of Cortez up the inside of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico.
  18. I always ignore this pop-up, but maybe I shouldn't. Every so often the DP340 is not allowed, and I could at least get the $50 in that case if the pop-up "popped".
  19. That's interesting. I don't gamble much, but I wonder if that applies to other discounts as well. Makes the booking on board not so attractive. The last time I did, there was no conflict. I always check out the the price and pick my cabin before I go see NextCruise on board a ship, and the prices have matched.
  20. Your TA is not entirely correct. I use DP340 for all my bookings. I've found it can be combined with many of the other promos at the time of booking, I have received the $$ off promo, and the obc promo, too. If it cannot be combined, it will not show in the pricing details. ALWAYS, ALWAYS use it when booking, and tell your TA to let the booking system make the decision about it's validity.
  21. I checked all my booked cruise prices yesterday, and every one was higher, with one being 78% higher for my solo rate. However, after totally humiliating themselves and getting into trouble with the Feds, Southwest Airlines is quietly lowering prices. I checked all my booked flights today and ended up with a $165 credit.
  22. I have a friend on the Enchantment right now, and I asked her about this. Specifically the previous "always available" grilled salmon entrée. She and I both use it as our go-to if we are not interested in the other offerings. She said special requests are still encouraged, the salmon is still available, and she and I made a request for the crab cakes every night on a cruise last September. If you give your waiter some notice (assuming here you have the same waiter going forward), they can accommodate your request.
  23. I have an app on my iphone that has come in handy on several occasions. It's called Datestamper. You can datestamp any photo on your phone, in case you want to add a date to the pic of your test result.
  24. Let me make sure, in all fairness to you, I understand your question. You want to know the appropriate time to cancel your fake second person in your cabin, so you can get the lowest price for sailing as a solo, which you wanted to do all along. BUT, your fake second person in the cabin is your maybe, but really not, "date"? If I have all that correct in my head, I have two further comments: 1. No way will I assist you in gaming the system. 2. You sound very much like my 6 year old Granddaughter when I ask her a question she would like to scoot out of answering. She says, "Well, not that, but actually yes". (She is the Princess of Ambivalence")
