  1. This is really bad! Like most we had over two years of more than 10 cancellations due to the Pandemic lost out on non refundable flights and insurance would not cover us. Think this 20% off which expires in April next year is a joke! I have all this year booked up with cruises and land trips, unless they get a ship to do the exact same 12 night Lisbon to Rome on the same dates we have lost a lot of money for airfare. At least the hotels before and after are free cancellation. Going to speak with the insurance tomorrow.
  2. Yea just got the email! Flights, hotels etc. all booked and flights will be non refundable.Hope travel insurance will come through! This is third time we have had this over the years though not before with NCL
  3. Hate those QR codes in restaurants, last month we stayed in Malaga for a few weeks, many times we had to do the codes sometimes we would receive a paper menu which was so much easier we were travelling with family including kids. My husband hates mobile phones😂
  4. Hi, fellow Brit.As we are on the same cruise we got the email today too! The last few cruises we have taken since Pandemic we have been asked to take a selfie to upload. Last twice they still took the photo at the peer as well, think it’s for the sea pass card. Dianne
  5. Can’t remember exact amount but was approx $20 for two of us in total, we did do a lot of time off the ship in Malaga and Cadiz.Malaga was 8pm departure on both legs, so wine with dinner was charged the tax. But Cadiz we left 4 pm each time so by 7 cocktail time we were out of Spanish waters. So not too bad, it would of been worse if as we had heard no alcohol at all in Gibraltar but that wasn’t the case.
  6. We were charged the tax on the Sun in Spanish ports, this was on our b2b in February/March think it was a bit strange as we cruise to these same ports many times every year and this is the first time been charged tax. After paying for the free at sea for both cruises would not expect to be charged extra! But we still had two great cruises.
  7. Well said, each to their own. Some just don’t like to cause a fuss. However as a couple who cruise many times a year mostly on Celebrity we have rarely sent back food, and if I left my meal I would expect the waiter to ask if there was a problem and maybe offer to replace. Here’s hoping Oceania food is mostly of the high standard they proclaim.Eating good food is something we enjoy at home and in restaurants. One of the main reasons to cruise for us.
  8. Hi Keith, on our last cruise in March I purchased two x$250 cruise next certificates I was charged $250 from my onboard account so half price! Two weeks later I booked a 12 nt cruise inside cabin for next February they applied both certificates so $500 off the cruise, I then paid the balance in full with my Amex card and got the Amex offer of £350 back onto my card.I was happy with all this ,then the cruise reduced in price by £200 so I rang them expecting nothing, but they charged me2x£35 administration and put £130 back on my card! Well pleased😀
  9. We were charged this tax on our prepaid free at sea in February and March on our b2b cruises in both Spanish ports we visited. The card would appear on the bars until we were out of Spanish waters. They should of informed us of the charges before embarking, after nearly 50 cruises with 5 brands this was I think NCL being unfair to their guests.
  10. That’s great news, hope we feel the same next month when we will be on Nautica our first Oceania cruise. Dianne
  11. I use a chase prepaid credit card when abroad as there’s no fee on exchange rates. I have used it on my last two cruises without any trouble. As long as the card has the funds on it to cover any charges on the ship you should be fine. But maybe check with Norwegian or get your travel agent if you have one to find out.If they say it’s ok get it emailed to you as proof.
  12. Agree this is NCL, I don’t believe it happens on other lines. We had heard of the no alcohol served in Gibraltar just before our cruise in February. But this did not happen on our cruise when we were docked in Gibraltar, still had to pay the tax on any drinks served from the free at sea package when in Spain, will be in interested to see if this is the case in June on Oceania.
  13. Have left the ship about 8am for lunch time flight a few times, each time have booked a transfer from ship to airport costs about€30 for a car. Will be disembarking from the World Trade terminal in June as we are on Oceania I booked a transfer with booking.com £28, it’s the first time we haven’t been picked up from the main terminal so a bit nervous lol. Only once used the transfer from the cruise line and it was expensive.
  14. Looking forward to your live review, we are back on Reflection in September doing the Barca to Rome then Rome back to Barca. Love the bars and restaurants in Barcelona so much we nearly always start and finish there. Couple of cheeky nights pre cruise or before flying home.Have a great time all of you!
  15. Just want to say a huge thanks to all your replies and advice, cruise critic is helpful to us all! Happy cruising everyone.Dianne
  16. Elite plus on Celebrity after many cruises with them, have only sailed six times on NCL , This year we have had 21 nights earlier in the year on Norwegian next cruise is only 10 nights on Oceania, then in September back on Celebrity for a back to back of 19 nights. All are Mediterranean or Canary Islands, but very different experiences, I would say NCL are more like RCL in my experience and we enjoy the drinks package on NCL.But have enjoyed all our cruises so far!
  17. We did a b2 b this February and March from Lisbon to these ports, weather was lovely and we had a few nights in beautiful Lisbon before flying home.Enjoyed it so much have booked next February on the Epic from Lisbon to Rome, nice short flights for us Brits.Think the Epic is doing this cruise as a reposition to the Mediterranean.
  18. Worth a look, will check regularly over the next few weeks!
  19. Ha that make sense I believe top suites get to book earlier! We are just in a C2.
  20. This is true for us in the Uk as I’ve just repriced a cruise that had dropped in the latest sale.£35 per person to have it repriced, my cruise final payment isn’t until December but I paid it off two weeks ago! Now I am waiting for them to put £130 back on my credit card.
  21. Thanks for the advice, will do this
