  1. For those who have used a drone to take pictures and videos on cruises down in the Caribbean, have you generally run into any issues at any of the islands of getting shut down? Is there permission you have to get? I understand around the cruise port is generally a no go, I think, but beaches etc.. Interested in maybe getting into that hobby as I enjoy taking standard pictures so just weighing my options.

Normally I'd say go to the NextCruise office and ask them to print the confirmation. But they only have access to NextCruise bookings. Since you did it through the app, while choosing the NextCruise option, I don't know if they can see it. All you can do is go ask. Go towards the end of their hours when the crowd should be smaller. If they can't see the reservation they should at least be able to make a phone call to get it straightened out.

We popped in and it sounds like the onboard next cruise group processes all the ones that come in via the app so she said they're just backed up. Interesting it isn't just automated. She said I should see it tonight

Is it a future certificate and not an actual booked sail.  No matter what method the next cruise agent should have printed a paper invoice/certificate.

As I said before, I didn't do it with an agent. I did it through the app using the next cruise option....

  4. On board right now. I did a next cruise deposit over 24 hours ago, but haven't gotten the email. When I check the app, it just says I'll get an email within 24 hours.

Any idea who I'd need to speak with on board tonight if it doesn't show up? We get off the ship tomorrow morning. Normally I get the email within a few hours of doing it. Screenshot_20231110_103745_Royal2.thumb.jpg.a85b98d9d1c3dd179d29ca3674370e2d.jpg

You each get a free bag.

You each get one BOGO offer. So you can get 2 meals where you pay for one person. While results vary by ship/date, more and more people are reporting only being able to use them on nights 1 and 2 (as intended).

Ah got it. So if we went to say chops night 1,we'd just pay for one of us?

  6. For the diamond plus free bag of laundry, is that 1 per cabin or since my wife and I will both be D+, would we each get one free bag even though we're in the same cabin?

I guess same question regarding Bogo specialty dining on day 1, could we do day 1 and day 2 and essentially then get 2 free dining later in the cruise?

  7. Curious for opinions. We fly out to Rome in a few days to board Odyssey for its transatlantic back to Florida. With all the crazy going on and things seemingly escalating every day in the middle east, would you still go? As of right now, we're planning on going but just being a little more cautious.

  8. Looks like what some thought might happen is going to happen, at least for 5-8 daily. Found that on another group. No more diamonds in the lounge from 5-8. Maybe specific to whatever this sailing is, but wouldn't surprise me to go forward. Glad I don't care and never go to the lounge. Screenshot_20231015_102321_Facebook2.jpg.bc9b0b939df817e85df677b889919863.jpg

  9. I know "worth it" is very subjective, but, considering doing chefs table for the first time ever on our transatlantic in a few weeks on Odyssey. Right now it's like $88 a person. Is it worth a try? Normally we're too busy to commit to such a long dining experience, but we'll have more time with it being a crossing. I know specialty dining is generally more expensive onboard and I don't think I've ever seen chefs table offered at a discount onboard that I can remember.

We are looking at booking Odyssey OTS and have not been on this class of ship yet.   I see a guaranteed balcony is quite a bit cheaper than selecting our own cabin.   We do not care about location on ship, distance to elevators or anything like that.. However, I am wondering what the worst case scenario would be in terms of obstructed view..   Are there any balconies where you look directly at a life boat or something like that?

    Any tips appreciated...  thanks.

Yes. YouTube obstructed vjdww balcony in Odyssey, quantum or ovation and you'll see numerous videos of different views. Some you'll see mostly life boat, others better.

Someone posted a price of 43.99. For 43.99 I'd try it out, so I went to book.

I'm a no at this price.

Interesting how the price varies. I'm on Oasis end of February and early March, and the price was $61.99per person. On Wonder at the end of March, it's $51.98. I would have expected Wonder sailing to be higher than oasis since it seems they charge more on Coco cay for everything on the newer ships.

Well then, you would have to also give kudos to the elderly man who sat at the table next to us and as he finished his meal, used his finger to run across his teeth to remove excess food.  But wait, he wasn't really finished, he walked over to the desert, picked up and replaced several selection before settling on a piece of pie.  Came back to the table, ate the pie and cleaned his teeth once again with his finger.

Clean teeth are clean teeth! Worry less about what other people do and enjoy vacation more.
