  1. They are not even consistent within the line. Our selected disembark time on the app was 10:45, but at 10:30 they started making the "get the heck out of here" announcements....We got off at 10:30, but due to the need for wheelchair assistance in the terminal, we were waiting just off the ship. There were a lot of people leaving in the 10:30-10:45 range and stragglers as late as 11:10. NOTE: we were OFF the ship, waiting in the terminal for assistance.
  2. If you have the status thru the status match (which is what you are describing), you should see "Deep Blue Extras" on the website tab for any cruises prior to March 31. The program is scheduled to end on that date, but has already been extended once. For cruises after 3/31/23, you will see nothing because the status was awarded by them, not earned by cruising twice in 2022. No one knows what will happen with the loyalty program as of 4/1. To see the add ons, go to virginvoyages.com, click on "My account." (little down carrot next to the person icon). Select the appropriate upcoming cruise and click "Manage my voyage." Go to the far right tab "my voyage" and then to "Add ons." You should see any loot. If the date of your cruise(s) is prior to 3/31, you should see "Deep Blue Extras."
  3. There is one person who keeps touting this theory. He was convinced that they were going to be acquired by NCL (unlikely as NCL now has its own financial issues). I have no access to anything official, but reports have shown steadily increasing occupancy with a few "special" sailings getting up to 2200 guests. VV will never have the figures of greater than 100% that other lines do because most of their cabins hold 2 people and the no kids policy means most will be sailing as solos or with a significant other. The cabins that could hold 3 or 4 are likely to sail with 2. But they seem to have moved from their early cruises right after covid running at 30% with many of those guests being on as non-paying guests for publicity or TA training purposes or as casino freebies to most cruises now going out in the 65% range with all or virtually all paying cruisers. And, as other lines are increasing their fares, VV's "almost all inclusive" model looks a lot better than others with the added costs of "plus" or "free" packages. Guess I'm wrong to say that I enjoy the ships not being full.
  4. We did our first one and booked 3 more to get the rebooking on board deal. Yeah, we are hooked.
  5. Exactly.....when my local agency closed, I moved to an on line group...had a great phone conversation with one of the agents. This was a small family owned agency. I continued to use that person until she retired although others at the office were available to help. Used them for every cruise 2009-2022 (haven't cruised in 2023 yet, but it is booked!)
  6. If you put it over the bathroom door, it obstructs the things that you can use to hand robes, towels, etc. that are attached to the door. But yes, it is almost a necessity!
  7. No, and we only tasted the chicken. The steak tartare smelled like canned dog food.
  8. It was my least favorite experience on board in October. The food was AWFUL, although I've read that it improved. Our selection was steak tartare appetizer, chicken or salmon main (the chicken was so hard that we couldn't cut it with the knife supplied, and we left before desert. We did a walk up at a real restaurant. The show itself was a mix of dancers and appearances by ship's entertainers, variety acts by people who were brought on board specifically for this show and were quite good, and rather dumb audience participation games. The variety acts were things like people who had won America/Britain's Got Talent, and were worth seeing. The rest of it....nope, won't be going again. Also, we attempted to decline the food and were told that they had to serve it; I've read that this policy has changed since October 2022.
  9. The big thing to see is the Dolphin House. All the rest is reported to be fluff. You can do the Dolphin House on your own and not have to deal with times and crowds.
  10. The first 2 were supposed to launch during covid, so they are still playing catch up on bookings. No official word at this time, but my best guess is that they'll get the first 4 filling up first.
  11. Whenever they jolly well get it all figured out.:-) Some 2024 dates are out as we have one booked. It is a relatively new line, so we don't have a lot of history to go on....but we booked our 2024 cruise about 5 months ago.
  12. There are literally NO rules other than to have certain appropriate body parts covered and not to be dripping onto the chairs. Totally seriously. While I usually put on something a little more dressed up, I have gone to the restaurants in shorts and a t-shirt. I've never seen anyone turned away for any clothing.
  13. Correct--Megas get their bar restocked with whatever the wish. Rockstars get what is in the bar when they check in, but no refills. Yes to the nightly champagne reception. Suites get early access to booking excursions and dining on the app or by calling VV and doing it thru one of their people.n. There is a special waiting area at the terminal and a meeting in The Manor after boarding where they will serve bubbly and you'll meet with the Rockstar agents who will help with any bookings you need, move dining reservations, etc. and be sure you know how to reach them throughout the cruise. So much is included with VV cruises for everyone that there are no a huge number of Rockstar perks....mainly the in room alcohol and the much larger room and Richard's Rooftop.
  14. I liked whatever they were serving at general sail away better than the Moet. The difference is that you won't You basically have a choice between the atmosphere on Richard's Rooftop or seeing the little show that the Happenings Cast does and interacting with them before their performance in the general area. As above, you can easily move between the two if you wish.
  15. The only way to be a sea blazer is to have sailed in 2021. If that applies to you, the $125 should show up automatically when you purchase the $300 bar tab. Same, if you are a sea rover (at least 2 cruises in 2022, I think this may have extended to March 2023, gets you a $100 bonus with $300 purchase for 2 years. My dashboard shows all "badges" gray, even those I am entitled to.
  16. You can...or you can go to the suite reception. Actually, everyone can go straight to their cabin when embarking. We were in a sea terrace with a 1:30 arrival time...we arrived at 1:05, following the "not more than 30 minutes before arrival time" rule, and were in our cabin by 1:45. Our luggage arrived within minutes. Mega--your can have your bar replaced whenever, and any leftovers can go home with you provided Customs regulations permit.
  17. I suspect your booking date has not arrived yet. When you reach your booking date, you will be able to see prices and a button to click to book. As above, if you book prior to boarding, you will be charged on your credit card. If you book after boarding, you can pay with loot. One trick that used to work (not sure it still does), is that VV had a 24 hour cancelation policy. You could book in advance. After boarding, you could go to the big red desk on deck 7....cancel your reservation and immediately rebook thru the desk. The refund is supposed to go to the credit card you used to book originally and the new booking is supposed to go to the loot. I have read of some people claiming that they were refunded in "loot." That's why I'm suggesting verifying with the desk before you try this. I know that it did refund to the credit card 6 months ago. You can view the excursions that are supposed to be offered for your cruise prior to the opening of your booking date.
  18. Loved the October 2022 TA. Have fun!
  19. If every is smooth with your booking, then booking on your own may not be worth $200 to you. But I have yet to have a V V booking go smoothly. There is something wrong between their people who determine loot, people who do the accounting, and the way they make things show up in the app. My loot is always wrong on line, but on the last cruise straightened out after boarding. But when they screw up my final payment, that's NOT ok. I'd rather spend 5 minutes texting or PMing my TA than hours waiting for a VV rep to put me on hold and go back and forth between me and their "back office." VV has a great product on their ship but some of their shoreside stuff just isn't together yet.
  20. Definitely recommend a TA on VV. VV screwed up a couple of financial issues on my cruises, but TA was always able to fix it. You can select your cabin if you call VV, use a TA or do a rebooking on board. If you rebook on board, your current TA will show up but you can change it by telling the rebooking agent the info at that time. My TA sent me screenshots of HER info after the financial mix ups so I'd have something to argue with if it was messed up at/after boarding (it wasn't).
  21. Or if you are hanging out together, just put the charge on your band--avoids questions. But I totally agree that there is no consistency in answers from VV. I didn't see a "drunk and disorderly" problem on VV like some other lines have, things seemed a lot more casual about serving.
  22. Yeah, but I could see other sorts of activities overlapping rather than those that might attract the same people. For example, it is less of an issue that the intellectual ones and the exercise ones overlap. We had 1400 on our cruise, and the only times I saw the pool deck crowded were sail away and Scarlet Night. Actually I was surprised at how empty it was. Weather was great.
  23. Your screen looks like mine on the app, so I would say you downloaded the right one. As far as the first sailor stuff....your TA can change it and make you first, then you will get any emails. Honestly here aren't many; mostly just ads for more cruises. We did encounter this issue for a different reason, and TA flipped the names after the fact. You can do his check in on the app for him on either your phone or his (I always end up taking care of everything).
  24. There are classes that hold 6 and classes that hold 75+. The small ones like the bungee class fill quickly. However...people are inconsistent. If you want to go to a class and can't get in, go to the location 10 minutes before start time. If someone doesn't show up, you can get in.
  25. On the app....or you can go to the big red desk on deck 7 or sailor services on deck 5 if you are not able to work the app
