  1. I went to bed last night when pg. 3352 was the most current on this thread. It's now after 7am and the thread is still on page 3352. No catching up for the first time since this thread was created. Californians, stay safe and dry!
  2. Thanks again for a great review. Taking notes here. I have a soon to be 15 year old grandson with a girlfriend already. When my daughter was that age, I called it a "tonsillectomy". Unfortunately, she was always too honest at times!
  3. We're looking for a cruise out of Galveston in 2024. non holiday, non summer. Lots of options. Good rates on Harmony but the lower rates always indicate guarantee inside non-refundable deposit. Our criteria is refundable and NOT a guarantee cabin. We'll do the choosing thank you very much. Still early so we shall see. Lots of Carnival which I refuse to cruise ever since they botched up a cruise and had Jack and I sitting alone at a table for 4, not allowing us to join our table of 10 friends. We all booked at the same time, using the same TA who sent me Carnival's written confirmation that we were all linked for dining. We all talked until we were blue in the face but it did no good. We even suggested 2 tables of 6 each but were told it wasn't possible. BTW, initially, Jack and I were booked in a different dining room than our friends. Carnival Triumph had two different dining rooms. Yes, THAT ship but thankfully years before the poop cruise. Luckily, they moved us to our friends dining room and since nobody was assigned to our table of 4, each night, 2 different friends sat with us. They did not allow Jack and I to sit at the "big table" but allowed our friends to sit at our table. We made lemonade out of lemons so it turned out to be sort of doable. I wish I kept the letter I wrote to Carnival headquarters. It was a masterpiece. For my trouble, I received a voucher for some beauty items in the SPA to be used on a future cruise. Seriously? I just wanted to be "heard". OK, rant over. Sorry!
  4. Thank you and @Sunshine3601Debbie, for the great Cocoa Cay advice. I think Jack and I will gravitate to Chill Island. We prefer to sit in the shade and I doubt one umbrella will do it. Are there trees we can sit under? I'm hoping bathrooms won't be too far. I love Paradise Beach in Cozumel because of the many palm trees that provide natural shade without having to move every time the sun shifts.
  5. @DaniDanielle Marielle wishing you a fabulous birthday. May all your wishes come true. Thanks, all, for your birthday wishes to my daughter. 36 today and shares birthday honors with Katie Couric. When we lived in NY, we said we would go down to Rockefeller Center and hope to get on camera. We never did. When our daughter lived at home, every birthday morning when she came down for breakfast, a gift bag and Winnie the Poo balloon was at her place at the table. Gift bag contained favorite candy,, stuffed animals, silly gifts and always mutli colored toe socks and a Winnie the Poo calendar. Call it tradition. Of course, dinner out and a special birthday gift. I miss those days. Now she does the same for her kids. I'm glad.
  6. Great review, fabulous pictures. Will be a pleasure meeting you, Lisa, Owen and everyone on the Bella cruise which will be here before we know it. Safe travels home. Yuck on the white stuff that awaits you.
  7. Dani, to you and your DH, Happy Anniversary in less than 2 weeks, and a Happy Birthday to your chef. "Ahd 120" Until 120 in good health and much happiness.
  8. I love reading the wonderful advice given in here, this morning, be it Bermuda, phones, gardening, medical issues, etc., etc. People helping people is part of what makes this thread great.
  9. You described it very well. We're lucky we have one approx. 30 minutes from where we live. I take more than a quick look at the home decor 🙂
  10. We had the best time with our friends. Dinner was great even though no chicken tetrazzini. Pork roast with scalloped potatoes, broccoli, black eyed peas an apparent Southern New Year thing. Taken from google, my friend: Why do we eat black-eyed peas on New Year's? According to author and food scholar Adrian Miller, eating black eyed peas on New Years Eve or New Years Day promises good luck, health, and abundance Everyone loved the desserts with the diabetics having my homemade loaf cake as well as the no sugar pie. Pinot Grigio, a red wine (forgot the name) Moscato, tea, coffee and wonderful chat made the late afternoon perfect.
  11. Just right especially on top of the fireplace. I agree with @Momof3gurlzDeb that a smaller mirror might look too small. I would maybe place something larger on the left side of the mirror? You posted the best one!
  12. We're going to friends today for an early dinner/late lunch. I hope she makes her chicken tetrazzini. Fabulous! She refused my offer to bring anything but said if I want, I can bring a dessert. I made a banana/pecan/choco chip loaf and bought a sugar free blueberry pie for the 2 that I know are diabetic. Fun people and good food. Great combo! @h20skibum Mark, you have very talented grands! So special to be together with family in such a beautiful setting. @Sunshine3601Debbie, Petey looks like a honey! Hope everyone enjoys the first day of 2023.
  13. Maryann, so glad you made it safely to Naples. New Year wishes back at you and Jim! What a sweetie pie, ready for the world.
  14. Hoping the New Year brings joy and good health to all of you and your loved ones. Echoing Dani: @A&L_Ont Andrew -- Happy Birthday @Luckynana Maryann - Happy Birthday to your granddaughter @Arzeena - Happy Birthday to your daughter @NHProud - Judy & Steve, Best wishes on your 56th wedding ainiversary Hoping all have wonderful celebrations.
  15. Their cioppina seafood soup is yummy. Haven't been in Whole Foods in quite a while. I think I need to make a trip there.
  16. I once had penne pasta with vodka sauce pizza, in NJ, where else? Delicious! 61 now, going up to 72 tomorrow. Glad they made it. Enjoy their visit. Best month for sure! NYers break open the shorts and tshirts as soon as the fear of a deep freeze is gone. Too bad it's still December. 😉
