  1. That looks suspiciously like the rather tasty snack we enjoyed onboard HMS Britannia 😂😂
  2. Having done an Avalon Rhine river cruise earlier this year, Avalon have an app with everything on, even the menus ( they would bring you a printed menu but were very much promoting the app use). The only issue I have is that I am still of the mindset that it is rude looking at your mobile during a meal and so the fact that everyone (including me 😂) kept getting their phone out to check things went against the grain 😜.
  3. I'm not going to bother. Internet is usually so slow onboard that you are limited to what you can access and streaming anything was impossible. I just make sure I download all the books I'm going to read before I leave , check my email etc once per day and then switch off from the world. Hubby can then use to his heart's content 😂 you can always stop for a drink whilst you are out and use the cafe internet - much faster (and cheaper 😜)
  4. I paid £75 for mine (from Amazon). Because Heathrow is the airport we are going from /to I thought it a wise investment. Originally Regent had us flying from Manchester into Heathrow with a 1.5 hour layover time which included changing from terminal 5 to terminal 3 😱 very little chance that we or our cases would have made it onto the plane so now we are going the night before and rechecking our bags the following morning. On the way back it is similar but the same terminal but at the end of the holiday less stressful 😂 I will definitely put them in the suitcase though rather than in a tag/holder on the outside
  5. I have bought some apple AirTags - just need to find out how they work 😂😂
  6. We are travelling out of and into Heathrow though - the land of the (many) missing suitcases 😜
  7. Yes - I agree - I have got the Apple ones
  8. Thank you BBWC - that was what I hoped would happen 😁
  9. I have read on other threads that people have sent their bags on the bus then got an Uber to the port so they can check in before the bus 'crowds' arrive so I assume they didn't wait for their luggage to come off the bus but hoped someone might have a definitive answer 😁
  10. Thanks, Flossie - that's useful - at leat we will see a little more of Miami than Brickell Key and the port and airport 😂
  11. Joining Navigator in December so wondered whether I could ask some questions please? We will take the bus from the hotel to Miami port (I know we will have to queue but that's OK 😁 we Brits are good at queuing 😜) so will our bags leave the hotel and then miraculously appear in our suite some hours later or do we have to offload them and check them in with Regent prior to boarding? I hear the Miami port staff can be a little difficult at times. Post cruise our flight leaves at 17:30 - do Regent provide a tour of Miami or day hotel etc? (When we disembarked in Sweden we had a tour of Stockholm on the way to the airport) many thanks
  12. We have booked a concierge on Navigator for our Caribbean cruise and ended up in the Mandarin Oriental for our overnight so quite pleased with that perk and as we don't move to silver until our next cruise starts next year, we were able to book the excursions and Prime 7 a little earlier. Booked the F1 on the Explorer as we have a land programme in Tokyo first and one in Hong Kong after ( if all goes to plan and Japan and China have opened up following Covid 🤞🏻) so wont need the pre cruise. We eat late so hopefully we will be able to access times we like in the speciality restaurants - just hope all the decent excursions haven't sold out 😁
  13. Well if the airlines won't help you in business class, think of us poor Brits - Regent only provide us with cattle class so we would probably have been spending the night in that Turkish jail BellaOnline's friend was teasing her with as my husband is not the most patient and would probably have blown his top at them 😜.
  14. On twitter - As a mark of respect all Historic Scotland sites will be closed on 19th September, the day of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. Sites will reopen on 20th Sept. Pre-booked tickets for this day will be automatically refunded. Any queries contact ticketing@hes.scot. Also all public museums, National and Scottish Trust properties and the Royal Yacht Britannia are also closed, Most major British stores are also closing - Even Costco is closing on Monday! I am sure though that they will be able to find something as whilst many Scot's loved the Queen, there are many who still resent the British Monarchy so any businesses run by them will be open. If you are reasonably fit a walk up Arthur's Seat (above Holyrood) is lovely if the weather is OK. And, if all else fails, you can find a pub with a big screen in Edinburgh and toast the Queen with a wee dram. State funerals are (I believe being far too young to have ever seen one) a sight to behold.
  15. Athens as a city is quite tatty in places - a mixture of historic sites and run down, graffitied buildings so it's not unusual to have that sort of view even near nice hotels. I believe they have a view of the Acropolis from the roof. We booked our own hotel when we stayed and could practically 'touch' the Acropolis from the roof top restaurant. I think it was the Athen's Gate but quite a while since we stayed there and not 5 star.
  16. You and my hubby are on the same page here. He has had to wear a suit and tie for the vast majority of his working life and feels that we women should not be allowed to get away with (in his words) floaty blouses and dresses when he is being strangled by a tie 😂😂😂
  17. Although the majority seem to be showers, There do seem to be a fair few veranda suites with a bath - they are marked by a water droplet 💧 on the deck plan
  18. We have just booked our first Silversea cruise on the Nova in 2025 which our travel agent has combined with an India land tour so, as they block book, our choice of suites was limited. Knowing how annoying the dragging of furniture can be if under the pool deck we avoided Deck 9 and were left with deck 8 (large shower) or Deck 7 (bath and shower). My worry is, on the deck plan there is a large, empty white box directly above the deck 8 suite - probably a staff area, could be storage but unknown and as I didn't want to be woken by the gentle rattle of room service trolleys (just in case) I have gone for the deck 7 option - surrounded on all sides by other suites and in the middle and a bit lower so good for the old mal de mer. Whilst I would have preferred the large shower I'm not too fussed. The travel agent thought it might be the same bath and shower combo as on the other ships but I am sure we will find out more in the fullness of time 😁
  19. What a good idea might have to give that a try 😁 Whilst I know what I like I am not averse to trying something new and indeed some really interesting wines were provided by the sommelier when we didn't like the recommended 'pour' but what a faff for them when they are busy. I can understand the reason for not providing a wine 'menu' to everyone and there are many who are quite content so there are probably not that many of us who want the list. But if someone does ask then adding a caveat that whilst these are the wines available today, some wines are in small quantities so may not be available throughout the cruise, I for one would be a happy bunny and I probably wouldn't have stewed for a couple of days nor have been ribbed by hubby for stressing over such a tiny thing 😂😂
  20. My husband still teases me about this but our only (for now) Regent cruise was on Voyager having previously cruised on Oceania (and Seabourn but that was as a total cruising newbie so we didn't really know the ropes 😁). Oceania had a wine list (paid for by the glass or included if you had the drinks package) so we could choose the wine we fancied each evening. On Voyager I tried a few of the included wines at the 'horrible wine drinking time of 10:30am'. I asked if there were any others available and was told no. I asked for a list and was told there wasn't one. Then at both lunch and dinner that day there were included wines which hadn't been at the tasting and several more arrived over the course of the cruise. I then chatted with another passenger who had many nights with Regent and he had been given a printed list on the first day which we had a peruse of but it really, really annoyed me at the time as I felt I had been lied to twice in quick succession. Definitely a first world problem but it was as if the wine list was top secret and only provided to 'special' passengers 😂 I had a chat (complain is too strong a word) with the hotel manager and lo and behold, he managed to print off the 'list that didn't exist' for me too 😜
  21. Thank you for the recommendation. So what did your TA have to do to pull that off - the US TAs seem to be able to offer more perks than the UK ones and of course we have a very different booking system with regards to cancellations etc. 😁
  22. We do appear to have the Mandarin Continental for our December cruise - should we be vey happy😁. Trying to find some nice restaurants in the local (walkable) area - Italian preferably. Any recommendations much appreciated.
  23. As a UK local who went to Edinburgh 'on holiday' last year definitely Edinburgh Castle (try to be there for the gun salute check the website for timings). It is at the top end of the Royal mile so afterwards you can wander down and enjoy the shops. They are quite touristy but we enjoyed looking. if Harry Potter is your 'thing' there are quite a few sites to visit. We really enjoyed the Royal Yacht Britannia which, depending where you dock, could be a short walk from the ship. Late lunch/afternoon tea was very enjoyable
  24. It has looked more and more restricted over the last few years but we had hoped there may still have been some of the HK 'sparkle' left but maybe we have left it too late?
  25. We are hoping we make it to HongKong. Another Regent cruiser has posted that they have had the Chinese segments for their March 23 cruise cancelled. One of the main reasons to visit the Far East was HK 😢
