  1. Or, if your ship is docked at the end of the Ramblas and your bags are going ahead you could just stroll down the Ramblas and pop into the Mercado de la Boqueria - that's my favourite way to arrive 😁
  2. Keep checking here to see what comes up https://www.rssc.com/voyage-health Can't see any that say they are leaving on the 6th yet although our cruise is there which leaves on the 12th. Are you going somewhere where the regulations might be uncertain so it is taking longer?
  3. I am not very good at distinguishing accents and have now resorted to saying and 'where in the Antipodes/ North America are you from' as I have put my foot in it several times 😂😂 I am quite good at the South African accent though.
  4. Well if there is any onboard (and you haven't drunk it all 😜😜) ask them to save us a couple of bottles as we get on as you get off. Oh, and if you get time, I would really appreciate it if you were able to post your thoughts on the Navigator and your ports of call, especially the Caribbean ones. Thank you and enjoy your cruise.
  5. Personally I would avoid Heathrow if you can 😜 whilst the mountains of lost luggage are apparently not too bad, there is a bit of a reputation for people and bags not making the same connection. We are in the UK so flying down the night before into HR then rechecking the bags for the flight across the pond and doing the connection on the way back.
  6. I loved your pictures from Mallorca. We stayed in Deia and travelled all over the island by car but did lots of walking along the Serra de Tramuntana too. Your photos of Soller brought back very happy memories as we walked to Soller towards the top of that mountain in your photo then down to Port de Soller, back on the tram then walked back to Deia through the orange groves - happy days.
  7. I am quite sad that we will only hit 20 nights at the end of our next cruise in December and won't hit the magical 21 until we board Explorer for our Asia cruise next year so we miss the earlier booking window by 1 day 🥹 so I assume we become silver as we board (unless anyone knows how to wing an extra day 😜😂)
  8. I don't mean this to appear rude or presumptious in any way but you mentioned in your first post that you aren't as young and resilient as you once were. If your flights are changed and involve terminal changes or long walks would you be entitled to any form of assistance from the airline to get you to your gate more quickly - might be worth investigating? We have an upcoming Caribbean cruise and we had just over an hour and a half to change terminals at Heathrow on our way out - can you imagine when our luggage might have arrived in Miami let alone us. 😱 Regent were great and changed the shuttle flight to the day before and then an earlier flight the following morning (sorting our own hotel) to Miami so hopefully our cases and ourselves will arrive together 😜
  9. As a teacher, I am with you re missing school, however, I am sure if you chat with her form tutor that it will be possible for her to have all the work she is missing and then you can allocate some time for her each day to work on it. It might even be possible for her to zoom into school on the days when you are still in the US (the Wi-Fi probably won't be good enough at sea). It will be a lot less stressful for you as a family.
  10. The Regent air could be different for you as I am accessing from the UK but should give you an idea.

  13. We haven't done 'lots' of cruises (5 sea and 2 river) and our longest was 14 nights but by the end of that I was getting a bit jaded with the eating and drinking Gilly was describing above. We have a 20 night Regent cruise next year so I need to get in training 😂😂 We have done 3 Med cruises on Seabourn and on these my hubby has flown his mountain bike over and done 40km or so in the hills and I have tried to do a good 10km walk into the hills in the morning then we meet for our champagne lunch, then go and visit the local town. Both activities certainly help to keep the weight down particularly when you get lost going to Ravello and end up on the wrong side and have to go down and back up again 😜😜 Photos of what we referred to as the third passenger preparing to travel and enjoying her cruise.
  14. If you go onto the RSSC website it gives you pictures, 360 tours, deck plans and suite perks for each ship (perks are the same but suites are different depending on the newer or older ships). Concierge gets you the overnight hotel and you can book speciality restaurants and excursions earlier than those in 'lower' category suites. Worth checking out the suite and ship on the sticky at the top of this board as some suites in the same category are better than others ie suites aft (rear of) on Navigator have vibration issues and you can make sure you are close to (or far away from depending on your preference) things like dining rooms, theatre, not under the pool deck etc. or midships if mal de mer is a problem. the other thing to check is the ambassador referral programme - so if your mom refers you, you both get a discount on the cost of the cruise.
  15. Late 70s and the 80s for me - definitely not Beyoncé et al 😁 but I also love classical and jazz and show tunes so I agree with wishIweretravelling a variety of genres and decades in different venues (and some punk rock for himself 😜)
  16. I agree re the music irishwitchy. I took early retirement last year but was getting bored so at the beginning of this year I took on a 3 month contract, part of which was trying to get older people to start to socialise safely and take part in local activities - so far so good. It was a bit scary that they were counting older people as 'over 50' but I set up a fun choir and my young line manager got some books for us to use - you know - the war songs 😜. Well on the first day they looked at me in total disgust, told me they weren't singing old people's songs and did I have any Rolling Stones and Tom Jones (our Elvis equivalent) 😂. I think we forget that the 18 year olds in the 60s were actually born in the 40s and are likely to be approaching or in their 80s so grew up with the Beatles and Rock n Roll not Vera Lynn so the music we 'think' older people enjoy really does need to move on. Now if Regent have any Green Day for my husband you might even see him 'bopping along'.
  17. We have some similar concerns re an October 2023 cruise which includes a stopover in HK in between the 2 B2B cruises, a couple of days around Taiwan and a post cruise stay in Hong Kong. we can't blame Regent for the actions of President Xi, however, the HK element was the key part of the cruise for us and if this can't be offered then I would not want to do the cruise at all. it's still a year away so 🤞🏻
  18. Hi Jean. We lived in Aberdeen for 5 years but used to drive up and down from North Wales (now that did take forever) I used to work at Foresterhill and Ian worked in Dyce 😁 regent have only allowed 1.5 hours for the Man/LHR transfer both ways.So on the way out we are flying down the night before and rechecking the luggage before we embark the Miami flight (with air tags in the cases) as I really don't want to arrive without my cases. On the way back, not so fussed so have stuck with Regents original flights and as we will check in through to Manchester, they will (hopefully) put us on the next flight if we are delayed but wanted to know what to expect. thank you all for your replies 😁
  19. Probably a question for the UK members. We are flying from Miami to LHR and from there to Manchester - BA both flights into and out of T5. What is the process for catching the domestic flight after we land at LHR? Had a look at the website and it refers to following the purple and white signs hand luggage check and security so does that mean we have to go through passport control? And will that be at the gate we arrive (don't know if that will be A, B or C - I think domestic flights usually leave from A gates). Many thanks and sorry for hi-jacking your thread jeb_bud
  20. Hi Gilly - now you are home I have found you something to bake - don't forget to send me a sample when you are done 😜😜
  21. I personally think it is important to have a 'warts and all' view of a cruise line. Sometimes they are fabulous, sometimes not so good but as a first timer, if you board any cruise ship expecting it to be totally fabulous (especially when you have paid a lot of money) you run the risk of being very disappointed if every review you have read has extolled its virtues but never mentioned that anything could possibly, ever go wrong. Even Regent isn't always perfect 😜
  22. Flossie - re the 30th anniversary gifts are the Waterford Crystal glasses part of this for your cruise or were they only for the people who stopped in Ireland - was quite fancying a set of those 😁
  23. Also does the app use any data when in use?
  24. Oh my goodness that is horrifying😱 and definitely something I want to avoid Not cheap at all as I prefer my home made sandwich to those that can be bought onboard 😁
  25. I know 😂😂 but it is so long since we were last there and in those days (before ESTAs) I just used to roll in. As all our holidays for the last many years have been short haul I tend not to worry and apart from being told off at the Spanish airports for no longer belonging to the EU they don't seem to worry either. I would just like the chance to relax in the very nice hotel we have been allocated rather than be in a small room with a scary border force officer 😱😂
