We are trying NCL for the first time for our Med cruise this month. Boston to Venice (red eye which is what we booked last time) and we have a 1.5 hour layover in Amsterdam. We took a 1 day deviation and got $25 back. It is saving us $1200 so we are chancing it. I will post the results when we get back 😁

Hi. Our cruise was moved from Venice to Trieste. We have booked the train from Venice to Trieste Centrale. Is the train station very close to the cruise port? We are hoping to drop off our luggage then walk around Trieste for a bit. Is this do-able and is Trieste nice to walk around?

We typically like to explore a bit instead of the tourist trap souvenir stores. I heard there are shops with locally made goods that taxis can take you to during a tour. I guess that’s what I mean.

We are still struggling a bit with Corfu, we will be there 10-4. We are thinking of Corfu Taxi Tours for 3 hours, or NCL Scenic tours. I know we will have more flexibility with our own taxi tour. We want to see local villages, authentic shops, beautiful views. We heard about the monastery but that's not really our thing. Are there nice views up there as well? Of course we want to explore Venetian area and Corfu town. How much time is needed for Corfu town/Venetian if we do the Taxi tour? We are also thinking of just getting off the ship and grabbing a taxi tour there. Are there vendors selling tours at the port too?

We are flying Boston to Venice, or quite as far as you are. But our layover in Europe is 1.5-2 hours so pretty good IMO. It is the red eye which is pretty common and what I would expect. We like coming in the morning so we have the day to explore.

So we did the opposite, cruised NCL and other lines (RC, Celebrity) and decided to try Carnival. My thoughts: The rooms are generally nicer on NCL The buffet on NCL is much better, I really didn't like the Carnival buffet at all Desserts on Carnival are better, food in main dining room on NCL is better Carnival has those great free lunch places like Guys Burgers, taco place, BBQ place Carnival still had a lobster night, NCL does not The carnival tea time was nice Both cruise lines can be chaos when trying to get off at ports. Celebrity was awesome! Pizza on Carnival was the best To sum it up, we generally like NCL better mostly due to the food and buffet. But we did like things about the Carnival cruise and we had fun.

This is interesting. We are staying 1 night at Ca Doge before our cruise out of Trieste. We picked this hotel because the morning of the cruise we can just roll our luggage over the bridge to the train station. Supposedly a quick 5 minute walk. My question, how far is it to see the Palace and other touristy sites? We will pretty much have one full day to see Venice. Any recommendation on authentic restaurants in the area? Not the expensive tourist trap ones. Thanks.

Unfortunately we are only there from 2:00-8:00 which limits our time 😞 the drawback of cruising.

We decided on a short boat trip to Perast and Lady of the Rock with Montenegrosubmarine then we will play it by ear and maybe walk the walls or just walk around town depending how hot it is and how much energy we have left 😁.

Hi. Has anyone purchased the 1 day Dubrovnik Pass from their website? Wondering if they mail it to the US. Also, it says its good for the buses. Would I just show the card when I get on the bus? Because I ready somewhere that you need to pick up a bus ticket somewhere. I was hoping to get off the cruise ship and show the card on the bus to get to the town. But I'm not sure if that's possible if we need to get tickets somewhere first.

I plan to book one of the Game of Throne tours on Trip Advisor. I'm not sure which one yet, depends on the times offered, But lots of reviews on there so make sure you read up on it first.

BennyBear that does look quite lovely. We love scenery and nature in general. We may walk the walls in Dubrovnik so probably won't do that here but the boat ride looks nice. Thanks!

Yes we are always interested in stunning scenery and architecture. I was asking about Perast town in general. The speedboat tour to the caves sounds interesting. I assume you get to see more nice scenery doing this. We plan to walk around Kotor town of course just wasn’t sure if Perast had any other things to see besides the churches.

I have read through many Kotor threads and I am mostly seeing "go to Perast and Lady of the Rocks". We have no interest in churches or Lady of the Rocks. Is there anything else worth seeing in Perast? Youtube videos show lots of churches and a few waterfront restaurants. We are coming on a cruise from 2-8pm. Should we stick by the cruise port and walk around there? Thanks for any help.

I heard Paradise Beach is grainy sand. Are they all like that or are there any beaches with powderey soft sand?

When I checked into Delta to pick my seats I saw a button to change the flights. I am happy with my flights so I didn’t click it but it was there.

My cruise is on Sunday, we took a 1 day deviation. Our flight leaves at 7:00pm Friday and we arrive at 10:30am Saturday. This is good since we planned to walk around Venice the day of arrival. We paid 9,900 Delta miles each to upgrade to Comfort + seats. We had to pay $45 each on the return Air France flight for upgraded seats. No option to use miles.

We got really good flights, layovers and seats. This is at 7 weeks out. As far as cost, I imagine NCL is never losing money regardless when they book. Or not much at least.

Ok I guess I totally missed this requirement. We sail 31July to Greek islands. Are you saying we are supposed to be wearing masks outside while walking around?

Ya my hubby didn’t have a good experience there last time he flew overseas. They were rude and tried making him pay for his carry on even though he just flew with it on his connector. I’ll make sure to leave extra time.

There were lots of seats together on the flights I just logged into. Maybe the overseas flights aren’t as popular.
