If the crew is required to wear masks inside, they should wear them properly, covering their mouths and noses. I wore a mask from time to time on my recent cruise when I was exposed to more people than I was comfortable being around. I do feel for the crew because it’s hard to breath and hard to talk, especially when they are working so hard and for many hours. crew removing masks is NOT for my enjoyment! nuff said Nancy

thanks. We will be on the quest this fall. I fully concur with all that you’ve said. We did have more staff (inside) with their masks covering both their mouths and noses on the ovation but many just covering theirs mouths and chins! 😁 I do hope the mask wearing for staff inside ends sooner than later. also, based on posts here and fb, I sure hope the service issues aboard the quest during the route of the Vikings cruise have improved. However, there were some very good comments. Nancy

Disembarked the ovation late august and crew was still required to wear mask indoors, not necessarily outside. I believe this is still the case across all seabourn ships. nancy

as I follow all of the lux boards, I too have read all the comments regarding the complaints of staffing and service issues. This seems to be a major issues in many industries. we loved our recent ovation cruise and had very few complaints…nothing is perfect in life. A few staffing and service issues early on in our cruise were quickly addressed by management and we didn’t bring up any of these very minor issues. Nancy

I recently sailed on the ovation, first time on seabourn and concur on the positives you noted. The service was very good to excellent and I do hope the service improves on the quest as I’m sailing the quest next month. I followed several quest threads on the seabourn cc board the past few weeks and there were several posters that expressed concerns about service issues. However, there were others on cc as well as another site that were very happy. Hopefully the service issues are finally being addressed and equal to other ships including what I experienced on the ovation. Overall, our ovation experience was excellent and we are looking forward to trying the quest. We throughly enjoyed many of the passengers, most were request seabourn sailors and the crew/officers provided us a genuinely warm and stellar experience in regards to the deck parties, which I loved on the ovation, it appears that due to the smaller size of the quest, the band and entertainers have to set up the stage area by the whirlpools. This is not the case on the ovation as the set up is on the other side as it’s larger and the hot tubs/whirlpools were fully accessible at the event I attended. overall, we were very pleased with the food and wine choices. I did purchase my favorite Chardonnay several times and the price was so reasonable. our suite attendants were some of the best we ever had. Within a day or so, we were always addressed by our names and the crew provided great service. again, thanks for taking the time to share your review. happy sails, Nancy

hi herb…I read Mary’s blog several times in past years as she posted it on the crystal cc board. She’s a wonderful writer and I love traveling vicariously with the two of you. I’ve watched CNBC for years, even more so since the pandemic began and I’m an early riser. I always enjoy seeing you! Our hotel in copenhagen didn’t get this channel so we watch from our phones I too hope we meet up one of these days. nancy

You’re welcome. As we had only done one night pre-cruise stays in copenhagen preciously, it was great to have extended time there after we disembarked the ovation. We did find quite a bit open on Sunday. I’ve followed Mary’s blog for quite a few years and look to your next adventure. In all the years I’ve been on cc, I have never posted a review of any of my crystal cruises and I don’t plan on doing that for my recent seabourn cruise. It simply has to do with privacy as Cruisecritic is a public forum . it’s not my style I don’t post reviews on any public forum. Over the years, I have become more and more reluctant to post certain things due to the ever changing cyber world. I’m happy to chime in on thread as you know. I have many crystal cruising friends and have shared my thoughts privately with them. Just happy that we had such a wonderful experience and look forward to our upcoming quest cruise. We were recently on the ovation and spent some time in copenhagen post cruise. We flew home a couple of days ago. It took a good hour to go through security, this was after check in/baggage drop off. Who knows what it will be like next year but currently I would not take a flight prior to noon. Nanvy ps. We had a wonderful cruise, first time on seabourn and the start of lasting relationship! Long, long time crystal cruisers…very happy with seabourn

Many thank and the apology unnecessary as I didn’t take your words personally. all business, including all lux cruise lines are struggling with finding the right balance, post Covid, for providing the best possible service…nothing is or ever was perfect. Have there been a few service issues on the ovation…Yes…nothing that can’t be corrected and all is fine. The ovation staff/crew are terrific. it certainly seems that the ovation is more typical of the normal seabourn standard. My next cruise is on the quest and I’m sure it will be just fine. we loved crystal, it ceased operations in January and we have a wait and see regarding the “new” crystal. We also booked a silversea cruise in 2023. For now, we found a wonderful cruising home on seabourn and the future is bright Nancy

Ouch!! We’re on our first Seabourn cruise, currently on the ovation and very happy. We sailed crystal exclusively for many years. Sight unseen, we booked a second Seabourn cruise that sails in a couple of months and we are thrilled for that cruise. the crew and officers on the ovation are so approachable, friendly and so eager to make sure all is well. We’ve also met some lovely passengers, many are frequent SB sailors and they are so welcoming. NUFF said Happy sails Nancy

I’m currently on the Ovation and the Restauant/Seabourns MDR, has been opening daily for breakfast and lunch on sea days. it my first seabourn cruise after many cruises with crystal and all has been great.

👍👍 we are first time seabourn cruisers, currently on the ovation…we are very, very happy with the overall experience! I won’t post much on here about our cruise as I don’t care to post much personal info on public forums. while we miss and loved all of the crystal cruises taken over many years, we are so happy and comfortable on this ovation cruise. So happy we have another seabourn cruise in a few months to look forward to. no line or product is perfection! happy sails, Nancy
