  1. Hi all I am going to do a category based review of our recent Glory sailing. We were on her from the 14th to the 21st of August This year. This was our first 7 day cruise with Carnival as opposed to our usual 12/13 day journey style and European cruises with them. We are also a British couple in our mid 30s who have no brand loyalty to any line and have tried most of the mass market lines including a covid strict princess cruise last summer in the UK. We also chose this cruise as New Orleans has been on our city bucket list for a while so we had a mini break there too. I'll add a bit about how it is to sail from and what we did there.
  2. We were in the glory the week before you. Lots of our FB group tested positive during or after the cruise.
  3. We've just got off the Glory and I plan on doing a review in the next few days as I'm used to long Carnival sailings. Some bits n some misses and a very odd looking old girl but we had fun.
  4. Only saw bacon once on the L i do on the Glory this past week. I skipped a few breakfast days but it certainly wasn't there each day.
  5. I'm fine with these cutbacks apart from the loss of afternoon tea. I am British.....this is to be expected. I'll just grab a general sandwich and go off to cry and eat it somewhere on deck 13.
  6. Costa have done this for a while....seems to work ok.
  7. To be honest, if you didn't pay much more than an inside these rooms are awesome. even when we didn't open the French door....spacious and natural light cabin. Book between lifeboats. She has Windows not French doors you can open.
  8. Sometimes I wonder if it's people are so used to shiny and new megaships their perspective is off. A good chunk of Non US folk sail on much older ships each season and are fine with it. I would take an older ship with better passenger ratios and space over some of the new stack em high vessels.
  9. As much as I enjoy CCL food I do wish they would have a more world wide diverse menu. The Indian vegetarian is yummy and they could add eve n more Asian etc inspirations. the fruit soups though....makes one scared for one's life. 😄
  10. We never attend port talks on any cruise as they always have a sell hidden somewhere or a bias towards what their tours offer.....this includes X. We always do our own port research now before boarding. Our 13 day Carnival Panama canal did have enrichment talks....but that was a very unusual and special cruise so they say.
  11. UK does but it's about getting a test here that is also accepted in the US. I'm also flying out just before the 3 days so can't do it in my house. We booked with Qured in the end as they are used both sides I the pond and are fda approved. Scheduled pm here but am in LA. I think when you don't live in the USA it's hard to appreciate the ache it is making sure your test is approved and which sites will accept your location etc.
  12. Not when you are flying from the UK to NOLA 3 days early and leaving the house at 6am for your flight. Most US kit places won't let you order without a US address or so t ship to your hotel.
  13. Thanks. Didn't know if they were still operating them after the restart.
  14. Does carnival still have self serve laundry facilities?
  15. Hi Just wondered if any cruisers used them. Were they accepted and how did you get on with the video call? Brits using them to cruise from the USA. Apparently they are FDA and Cdc approved and have centres UK and Us. Should be ok right? Cruising in a week and have them ready to pack and use on the video call.
  16. Agreed. Also...the more drinkable and flavourful water is.... the more folk drink.
  17. Yes! Just like those but UK brands. So handy to have in my handbag at all times.
  18. We take mini squash bottles everywhere that contain super no sugar concentrate and are the size of a small foundation bottle. Not sure if you can get these in the US? My t1 husband drinks wine, Manhattans, old fashioned, mixers and diet coke, slimline tonic and gin and straight whiskey.
  19. Not a big lager/pilsner girl but I will give it a go.... I do love the Caribbean wheat though.
  20. When we were on X and NCL we ate curry with our eggs and bacon for breakfast. So good. Princess last year had congee with all the toppings and spiced tofu/chickpea curry on the breakfast bar. At home I tend to use left over Pakoras (both homemade and shop bought) which are Indian spiced fritters with runny fried eggs and bread or make up congee in the morning when it's cold and serve it with soy sauce and meat.
  21. If I could I would... Carnival are known for having a high proportion of Indian and Bangladeshi chefs.
  22. I am sure we will all live without bacon. What does bother me more about Carnival is that they never have Asian breakfast offerings like the other lines I have been on. Love a bit of congee for breakfast or curry with My eggs. Royal also don't offer this. My point in this narrative is they are not going to keep everyone happy with their breakfast offerings. Blue iguana breakfast is the best anyway.
  23. June is much less busy. July 20thish to the first weekend in September is UK school holidays.
