Roadtripster Posted July 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2009 After all that great food and service during your cruise, it is a bummer to come home and face reality to have to fix dinner again. That first night, is the pits. Refrigerator is usually empty, snacks all gone, etc... Do you usually order in, go pick something up, fix a frozen pizza? I usually make a pasta casserole before I leave and freeze it. Pull it out when we get home and bake along with a loaf of garlic bread. Quick and simple. BroncosFan2010 Posted July 6, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2009 We almost always order pizza. It is cheap, no cooking required, and we have never found pizza on the ship that we liked, so it is a great first meal back home.

royalcruz Posted July 7, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 7, 2009 Our tradition is to go out to dinner for Thai food...we find the ship food so bland (on all of the lines we have been on), and love how Thai food perks up our taste buds.
Ninjachyck Posted July 7, 2009 #11 Share Posted July 7, 2009 We usually order in, but depending on flight arrival times, sometimes we don't even eat! It's straight off to bed!
Rubysky Posted July 12, 2009 #12 Share Posted July 12, 2009 I am the freezer queen. I cook when I feel like it and cook a lot of what I make. I freeze everything in individual servings, so I always have good meals on hand. After returning from our last cruise we had lasagna the first evening, the next am we had French toast & sausages, lunch was soup.
jean s Posted July 13, 2009 #13 Share Posted July 13, 2009 I really like my own meatballs and sauce so whenever we go away I always leave a frozen meal in the freezer. Then we just thaw it out, boil some pasta and have a nice easy meal.
dmdiver Posted July 13, 2009 #14 Share Posted July 13, 2009 If we have milk, it's cereal. Otherwise, we grab some fast food or throw in some frozen pizza or pasta meal. Usually too tired to go to much trouble.
redsoxgrlt Posted July 20, 2009 #15 Share Posted July 20, 2009 It's usually fast food at the airport for us! It's usually a shock when they tell us the total. Too bad they don't accept the Sail and Sign card!

kescott98 Posted July 22, 2009 #17 Share Posted July 22, 2009 For us, it really depends on what time we get home. For the most part, it's something like take-out or grocery store.
katz Posted July 22, 2009 #18 Share Posted July 22, 2009 I like to put on a nice dress and pair of heels, go sit down in the dining room and wait for my waiters to take my order. If the service is too slow there, I move to the kitchen table and wait for the waiters in that room to appear. After being really disappointed with the service aboard this ship, we call out to the Chinese restaurant that delivers.
MedicKen Posted July 23, 2009 #19 Share Posted July 23, 2009 We realy don't do anything special other than try to figure out how to eat with only 1 fork, spoon and knife. I usually wind up stirring my coffee with my finger 'cause there is no spoon for it.

I have a husband that does what you do (only minus the dress and heels) This man could eat 2 hrs after a buffet meal! GRRR... Our next flight will be getting us home after midnight, so it'll be whatever frozen meals we have handy. I keep Lean Cuisines stocked and I think we'll need them! veggie59 Posted July 26, 2009 #21 Share Posted July 26, 2009 It depends on what time we get home. After our last cruse we went out for pizza. After our next cruise we will probably do something similiar as we are sailing out of a local port...hooray! It will be my 50th b-day the day we return. So we will probably eat out for lunch and dinner that day! :D
IPA region 30 member Posted July 26, 2009 #22 Share Posted July 26, 2009 Depends on what our mood is and what we have eaten that day. We are good with Pizza, oriental or salad... Sometimes though we will just have sandwiches. Just depends on the mood for the night...

maray Posted July 28, 2009 #24 Share Posted July 28, 2009 By the time we arrive home to be dropped off we head to the nearest diner and unwind with a soup and sandwich meal. I most always travel with a group and we share stories laugh and unwind. Then we start planning ther next cruise. That way the cruise lives on.
