Barcelona on Epiphany Jan 6

Recommended Posts

We will disembark January 6 in Barcelona and stay over two nights. I see that Jan. 6 is a holiday (Epihany) in Spain and Italy (I think), and a Sunday. I was wondering if the Metro, buses, trains and sightseeing venues will be on an abbreviated schedule that day, or just what will the impact of it being a holiday be? I don't care about shops, but we do want to use public transportation and do a little bit of sightseeing that day.

The Three Kings is an important holiday, I am sure public transport will be reduced but it will still exist.

Check the places you want to visit that day for the opening hours. You will have to be extra careful and may need to rejig your schedule.

Public transport will be running, but maybe operating a reduced service. Shops and museums will be closed as it is a major public holiday.

There will probably be a parade of the Three Kings in the centre, so check.

Isn't the Cabalgata on the evening of 5th January in line with the most of Spain or is Barcelona different LondonTowner?

Probably. I couldn't remember when they have it as not my thing. However, most things apart from bars and restaurants will be closed on the 6th.

Barcelona is in line with the rest of Spain. The parade is, indeed, on the evening of January 5th - it begins at 6pm (1800).
