Has anyone stayed in the la concha renaissance hotel before their cruise? Any thoughts/reviews?

Also, even if you haven’t stayed here, how did you get to the port? Are Uber’s available or is there too many people going at the same time for an uber to be available? Anyone know of this hotel has a shuttle?

Thank you thank you!

Stayed many times. Smart modern chic. Book an Oceanview. Take a private taxi to the port, the Concierge will arrange for you. There is no shuttle.

This is a lovely hotel. It even has a casino! One of the restaurants, just a short walk from the hotel, has the best red snapper I have ever had in my life. I second everything the previous poster has said. Enjoy your cruise!

Nice clean refreshing hotel on the beach.

Check out the park next to the hotel. Use the walkway pier to get some incredible sights and sounds. (If you can get past Ben and Jerry’s, I couldn’t)

Although small, Pinky’s restaurant across the street from the hotel has super breakfasts.

I have used Uber but you have to walk away from the hotel to be picked up.

There is a bus stop in front of the hotel that will take you to Old San Juan for $.75. The buses do not take dollars, change only.

Try Kabanas for lunch. Yummy fish tacos. Only a block away.

In Old San Juan, I love the Choco Bar restaurant in San Francisco. Check

Our Yelp.

Have a great time.

This is super helpful, thanks! We Are staying there for 2 nights in December. I have also heard that the Uber laws jusr changed so you might be able to be picked up at the hotels now.

Stayed at LaConcha Feb 2017 pre cruise. Very nice hotel with nice pool area. Beach is kinda disappointing. Sand is not very soft, more like construction sand. Restaurants in the hotel are pricey but there are many places to eat up and down Ashford Avenue serving multiple cuisines. Agree that bus is the way to go to OSJ (bring your quarters!) and taxi to the port is very convenient.

We stayed at the La Concha in 2017 before our cruise. We flew in at 5 am and went straight to the hotel. Our room was already available, which was awesome because we were so tired. We were able to get a few hours of sleep. There's all sorts of restaurants on the same street as the hotel. Pinky's is great for breakfast. There's a Walgreens just down the street for any forgotten sunscreen or toiletries. They also have wine at the Walgreens, we found a screw top red wine that was decent and took it on the ship with us. The hotel itself is very nice. It has several pools, a nice gym, the beach that runs in back of it is nice to walk down. We decided to do Uber from the hotel and didn't realize that they couldn't pick us up at the hotel because the hotels contract with local taxi's. We had to walk about half a block down the street to get picked up. Our Uber driver was sort of blocking traffic to pick us up, not the best situation. The hotel always has a local taxi van ready to take you where you need to go. I believe the taxi drive only takes about 5 minutes to the cruiseport. However in our situation it took more like 15-20 minutes. Our ship was leaving during their SanSe celebration and the streets were packed with cars and people for the festival. So if you are going in January, look at when that festival is, so you can know that your ride in will take a lot longer. It's a BIG festival, you could hardly walk down the streets. We were hoping to walk around old town and see the sights, but it was way too crowded for my tastes.

La Concha is my all-time favorite hotel! I love the chic, upbeat atmosphere. Also it is right in the middle of everything, great restaurants, beautiful beach, and a Walgreens. The last time I was there, Beyonce was doing a concert and her entertainers stayed at this hotel.

While I can't talk about the hotel experience since I have not stayed there, I can tell you it's located in an awesome location! Basically in the middle of the Condado buzz. Lots of restaurants for all tastes and budgets within walking distance and vibrant nightlife. Yes, Uber can now pick you up basically anywhere except the airport (although they can take you to it). The bus that passes just in front of the hotel takes you right to the Old San Juan docks. But unfortunately, they are somewhat unreliable, schedule-wise.
