Smoking on Getaway?

I'm close to booking a Caribbean cruise on NCL Getaway. We are both non smokers and having read the description of the ship on here, it says that smoke can drift from the casino to other public areas. This is putting me off booking. Have any other non smokers sailed on her and did you encounter this problem.

The smoke on the breakaway is a MAJOR drawback.

You essentially have to avoid Deck 7 midships, which is tough because that's obviously a central area of the ship. One morning I walked through that area and literally gagged from the taste of the stale smoke in the air. It also drifts up to Deck 8, and you can smell it in the stairwells. It's a profoundly idiotic design, and it makes navigating the ship a lot more annoying for anyone who wants to avoid that stink.

Beyond that, Maltings is another smoke pit, and you can smell it in all of the balconies above it. I had a 14th floor balcony once, and even with Maltings on the 8th deck I could smell the smoke. It was a little better on sea days with the breeze, but it was still gross.

Book the Gem if you can.

Non-smoker here. Never had an issue with the smoking on GA. As most mention, you'll get a whiff in the casino, but that's true of all cruise ships. There were a few outside areas (like outside Fat Cats) that seem to be a hangout for smokers, but as others point out, it's outside so not much of an issue.

Book it. You'll love it!

Mixed replies, what I was expecting really. We sailed on the Allure a couple of years ago and I couldn't stay in the casino for more than a couple of minutes because of the smoke. I never smelt it anywhere else though, which is my concern.
