Romy40 Posted September 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2018 I posted this in the "Mexican Riviera" port forums, but thought I would try here too. We are sailing with a 93 year old who wants to shop the Malecons. The heat and humidity will tire her quickly. Does anyone recall seeing wheelchair rentals at either port? (She has refused a wheelchair for the cruise, but would consider one for shopping at one port. She is an amazing woman; more like 60 than 93, but also - stubborn.) katisdale Posted September 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2018 I know stubborn as I suffer with that disorder. I suggest you order a wheelchair for your cabin. You can collapse it and keep it in your cabin. Then you can provide it whenever it is needed whether on the ship or at a port.
spookwife Posted September 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2018 You will need to provide your own WC every port except the private islands where beach chairs and a couple of standard chairs are available first come first served. kokopelli-az Posted September 7, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2018 Consider renting one for the whole cruise. Tell her she can use it as needed. Or not. It can just be folded up in the room when its not used. Large ships, long piers, walking around ports and hot weather can be very tiring.
Rare TiogaCruiser Posted September 8, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2018 How are you anticipating getting to the malecons? Matzalan has really high curbs in many places and not real Roll-easy sidewalks.

spookwife Posted September 10, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 10, 2018 Thanks Tioga for the heads up. Didn't think about that.Does Princess rent wheelchairs?? On board?? no. those are for emergencies only plus they tend to suck( wobbly wheels, uncomfortable seats, etc) it is always the passenger's responsibility to provide their own accommodations to any special needs. all the ships do is provide things like distilled water and extension cords for cpap machines and the like. any mobility aid is on you.
