Bailing on excursions...

The wife and I are heading to Cuba in July on the Paradise, and we are very excited. We are looking forward to enjoying a show aat the Tropicana. We are also booking another excursion so we meet our people-to-people requirement. That could potentially be a lot of activity for one day! So, I am wondering how hard it is to ditch our day excursion if we get tired, so we can head back to the ship for a nap before the evening festivities. Yes: a nap. Has anyone done this? How was the experience?

Stevanb - any details about your guide and what you did with him from 10AM to 6 PM? Would be very interested to hear more about this. Thanks.

We are planning to do something similar. We have a tour booked for 2 days with Fertours. On day 1, we will tour from 10 am to 5 or 6 or so. We will then go back to the ship, freshen up, and get picked back up around 7:30 or 8 to head out to dinner and a show. We get picked up and returned to the ship around midnight. On day 2, we get picked up again at 10 am and have our guide until 6 pm or so (we sail away at 8 pm).

For us, it was cheaper and easier than piecing together multiple shorter tours or paying for an evening taxi to go out for the evening. We get the same driver and guide both days, too.

Make sure what times the show is as you need same time to get there after dinner our dinner took about 2 hours price was prefixed also the currency exchange is only open till 8. pm in Havana at the pier . We figured out how much we needed and cashed in the extra before we left for dinner after paying everything we had 31.00 left and cab was 25.00 so it worked out prefect

We are planning to go to a bar/club to listen to music rather than go to one of the production shows. We want to get there early enough to get a good seat, but we aren’t too worried about “missing the show” if dinner runs long.
