Haven boarding in Seattle

Has anyone boarded in Seattle who had a Haven cabin recently ? I saw one photo recently that said Haven and a group of decks to enter a doorway, but never seen or heard anything else about the Haven boarding process especially for the Bliss in Seattle.

I know what to expect once we get into the Haven but don't have a clue before then.

I am also interested in when they opened check-in as well as when they started boarding on the June 9th and 16th cruise.

We just disembarked from both the 6/2 and 6/9 Cruise. It is a lovely, pleasant experience. There is a huge room with standard bevs and snacks. You are led on board as soon as the ship is cleared, separated at end of gangway from other pax and met by a butler who escorts you to the Haven at the fwd bank of elevators.

Obviously I'm a complete newbie ( never taken a cruise ever) but just trying to understand how this works.

So I get to the pier ( planning on walking from Marriott waterfront) and then I do what? Find the Haven sign? Give someone my bags first? Who? How do I find them.

I'm apologize for my total ignorance but If you can talk to me like I'm 5 years old about this that would seriously be so helpful!

By what I have seen in Seattle and cruises out of Florida baggage is the same. There will be a ton of porters around the front and you just hand off the bags to them. I usually give them a buck or two per bag. Just keep important stuff like any meds and your id's as well as anything you may need for the rest of the day as your bags may not show up until the evening.

Next is going thru security and unless someone else says different its just one line for security. After that start looking for Haven signs.

We too will be at the Marriott. I read on the hotel reviews that the bellmen have taken the luggage to the ship for some. Those reviews were a year or two old so hopefully they will still do it. We are flying in this coming Friday so will find out for sure

Thank you Cyclops! That was indeed very helpful. We are going on the 6/30 cruise so if you post when you get back with any more detailed info, especially about getting things over from Mariott (and the stay there) generally that would be so awesome. What kind of Haven room are you in?

You get to the pier. Baggage drop off is on the right. There is a table setup for luggage tagging if you need it.

After you drop off your luggage, you walk left down the block to just before Anthony’s restaurant. Almost a small plaza with the ship directly in front, restaurant on left and then you will turn right. Once in the building, Haven goes right, others go left and from there you are further directed.

Sorry I wasn’t more explicit earlier.

Thanks. Since you said you were on the 6/9 as well, do you remember when they started letting people thru security and when they finally started to board. I heard the 6/2 was quick but that could be because the prior cruise had a lot fewer people to get off.

We just got back from the June 9th cruise on the Bliss. We got to the pier around 11:30am. There are numerous signs for bag drop off, we went to one and dropped off our luggage. We were Haven, so we went to the check in line, and followed the signs for Suites, Penthouses, etc. It does not say "Haven", but this was the correct line. You bypass the zig zag line. Then, they check your cruise document to make sure you are on the ship. Next is the screening of bags you are carrying on, and walking through the metal detector. Do not even attempt to bring on any bottled water. After that, the line splits, regular cabins one way, haven the other way. We got up to the Haven check in, no one in line. Got our key cards, and were asked if we were ready to go on board. We said yes, and were then escorted on the ship to the elevator bank. One was being used exclusively for the Haven. We arrived on 17 and were greeted with a big "Welcome Home", then went to the Haven lounge. A few minutes later the concierge greeted us and told us our cabins were ready. We could go check them out, and then enjoy lunch in either the Haven lounge or Margaritaville as Haven guests. All in all, it was very easy.

The Marriott May be a bit of a walk with luggage.

When you get to the pier (you can’t miss the Bliss sitting on the dock), follow the signs to bag drop. There will be tables up near the building with big signs on the building. See pictures on the following link. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=56212203&postcount=3

Prior to leaving for your cruise, print out your luggage tags. And on the morning of the cruise, attach them to your bags. The instructions say to staple them, we use clear packing tape to reinforce the tags and tape the ends together.

If you are in the Haven (suites) it will be a fantastic first cruise. There will be port personnel are all over directing you to checkin. You will go through an airport-like security screening with X-ray and metal detectors. Then to a check in counter to scan your passports and get you your room keys.

If you are in the Haven, there is a dedicated checkin and waiting area for you

See our live post for more photos of the ship and menus, and daily programs. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=56212203#post56212203

Note: There are NOT a lot of porters on the curb because there is not much of a curb. So it is NOT like Miami

Thanks! So what does it mean if there are not a lot of porters at the curb? That you have to go to a table?

And hopefully Cyclops will report on getting from the Marriott to the pier.

I will. So far I have not seen any reports from Haven guests on the Bliss with Alaska ports. Unless someone posts stuff this week then I plan on posting our experience as we go. At least the pictures should get uploaded through out the week. Will have to see about any videos. I have a new 360 video camera and plan on using it for some of the excursion and those files can be huge so videos may have to wait.
