We are cruising to Sint Maarten/Saint Martin in May 2017 via Royal Caribbean. We have passport cards, but not full passports. Will this be sufficient when going between the two sides of the island? Or do we really need to get full passports?

No...you won't really know when you've crossed between the french and dutch side...there may have been a sign but our tour guide told us we just had crossed over...no one on the island will ask for your passport.
