cruisingluv Posted January 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2018 We will be taking the Star Princess on Feb. 17 to Hawaii. We do not want to book excursions thru the ship. Does anyone know of any inexpensive tours that can be booked before we take the ship to Hawaii. If so, could you give me the names, phone number etc. that we could look into booking a tour beforehand. Also are there any tours we can book once we get off the ship in port. thanks

Bad news: it ain't cheap. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 16, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2018 I too would visit the Hawaii Ports Of Call Board. Lots of information already posted on the board too. Keith
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 16, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2018 Have you checked your Roll Call where people can discuss private excursions?
Cruisen Elf Posted January 16, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 16, 2018 We used Roberts of Hawaii for several shore excursions a few years ago and were very pleased with their smaller group tours. Here is a link to the excursions they offer for your specific cruise: https://www.rhshorex.com/star-princess-02172018/ I would also recommend checking Trip Advisor at https://www.tripadvisor.com/ for the specific ports you are visiting in Hawaii. It will give you names of tour companies and sightseeing ideas. You can get a description of what the tours involve and see participants' ratings. It will also provide links to the companies' websites. As noted, it would also be helpful to check the Hawaii boards: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=62 and your specific cruise critic roll call: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2437300
sanger727 Posted January 17, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2018 We are also in the planning stages of a hawaii trip. In contrast to the Caribbean; there aren’t really cheap tour in Hawaii. They may be less expensive than the cruise line but nothing like what you might find in the Caribbean. Also, I don’t think you’ll find people in port selling tours as you get off the ship. We are renting a car in several ports and self touring to save money. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

DRS/NC Posted January 17, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Keep in mind that Hawaii is similar to Alaska in costs -- not cheap. Just about everything must be imported.
