Until that happens (not likely, IMO) the best thing to do is find Wifi in the ports.

None being talked about. You can ask the crew how they check their emails/FB on your next port.

Our Crew on Diamond would use internet cafes while on shore. We saw them in several Asian ports. They always worried about how much time the had to get back to the ship too.

But it costs between $21 and $25 a day if purchased pre-cruise, so for a two week cruise that would be over $300. They do sell a single hour option on board for $25, but it must be used all at one time.

RCCL Corp. (which owns Celebrity) says that a good part of increased on board profits are coming from the sale of drink packages and Internet packages.

That option is not currently available on Princess.

RCCL wins hands down on there internet services everything else about the sucks, but internet is the best at sea

The internet connection has limited bandwidth. Making pax pay by the minute (via packages) limits how much the internet is used by the pax. There are times when the internet is overloaded and response goes way down so an unlimited internet would be a disaster for a large ship with the current internet connections. The internet is via satellite from a moving ship so the up and down time needs to be taken into consideration which can add seconds to the response. I really do not see them offering unlimited internet capability with the existing equipment.
