Baltic without Russia

Recommended Posts

Princess and Celebrity do a Scandinavia itinerary out of Southampton, but it's not really a Baltic trip. They go as far as Copenhagen.

If you want to really see the other Baltic ports, you could choose an itinerary with only one day in St. Petersburg and just stay on the ship, like Serenade of the Seas.

We booked the perfect Baltic Cruise that does not include Russia...Holland America Eurodam, June 1 of this year. Great price now too! It is a 12 night cruise with overnights in port in Stockholm and Copenhagen. Check it out!

I know it may be challenging to find a Baltic cruise without Russian stops, so I wanted to give you a link to the Tauck tour my mother loved of Scandinavia (it visits the Fjords, Stockholm and Copenhagen). Best of luck finding a trip that meets your needs.

We really enjoyed the ease of being on a cruise in the Baltics, but just to give you another option:

Hi Rogeraland,

It’s really difficult to find such a cruise. We been on our first Baltic cruise 2 years ago and had two days in St. Petersburg. We also been to Tallinn, Helsinki, Stockholm and Warnemunder. I have to say that St. Petersburg was a highlight. It’s not only my private point of view. Everyone I spoke with said the same. Tallinn is charming, Stockholm is beautiful but I’m sure nothing could compare with St. Petersburg. This year we are returning to Baltic and we chose a cruise which has 3 days in St. Petersburg. On our second day we will go to Moscow.

Jess:)

I know this is an old thread from 2015. I was wondering if anyone has seen a Scandinavian cruise without Russia since these posts. Thank you.

It might help to say which cruise lines you have already looked at. We weren’t keen on Tallin, but managed to find an itinerary which didn’t include it.

Technically, Scandinavia is only Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. Are you looking specifically for those places? The Nordic countries (those three plus Finland)? Or the Baltic Sea?

Viking's "Scandinavia & the Kiel Canal" includes Copenhagen, Gotheburg, Oslo, Skagen, Fredericia, Kiel, Hamburg, and Amsterdam. Similarly, their "Majestic Fjords & Vibrant Cities" visits some of western Norway (Bergen, Eidfjord, Stavanger) along with Kristiansand, Oslo, Gothenburg, Ålborg, Copenhagen, and Warnemunde.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages has a trip out of Portsmouth, visiting Rotterdam, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Ålborg, and Kristiansand.

Azamara offers Southampton, Skagen, Ålborg, Aarhus, Fredericia, Copenhagen, Bornholm Island, and Stockholm.

MSC has a short 4-night trip from Warnemunde to Gothenburg and Aarhus.

At the luxury end... Silversea does a roundtrip from London to Honfleur, Travemunde, Copenhagen, Aalborg, Gothenburg, and Oslo. Regent has a trip from Oslo to Tilbury, Zeebrugge, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Warnemunde, Gdansk, Visby, and Stockholm.

For more of the Baltic, Cruise & Maritime has a few different sailings from England to Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, and Poland.

And if you have plenty of time for sea days, Princess has a repositioning from Ft.Lauderdale to the Baltic that stops in Zeebrugge, Rotterdam, Aarhus, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and ends in Helsinki.

Thanks this is helpful.

I thought I had replied earlier that I had looked at NCL and Princess, but I guess it did no go through. My bad. Thank you both.

To sort this out properly.

Scandinavia = Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

Nordic countries = Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland.

Citation? Every reference I could find has Denmark & Iceland in "Scandinavia". Happy to be proven wrong - would like a real reference though.

https://www.britannica.com/place/Scandinavia

Scandinavia, historically Scandia, part of northern Europe, generally held to consist

of the two countries of the Scandinavian Peninsula, Norway and Sweden, with the addition of Denmark.

Some authorities argue for the inclusion of Finland on geologic and economic grounds and of Iceland and

the Faroe Islands on the grounds that their inhabitants speak North Germanic (or Scandinavian) languages

related to those of Norway and Sweden.

Iceland is too far away geographically and Finland is ethically/linguistically different from Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

So just trust me when I say that Scandinavia is Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

Am trying to find a Baltic cruise that doesn't include Saint-Petersburg (or any other Russian port). Any help appreciated.

Not to question your motives on this but.....why? Due to security / safety perhaps? SPB was undoubtedly the highlight of our Baltic cruise - which is why most ships spend several days there. I'm sure you have your reasons, but it would indeed be a shame to not include such a very worthwhile port.

We have done a Baltic cruise twice and did it again this year again, but wanted to find a cruise which didn’t include Tallin. Although I know most people love it, we thought it overrated, over commercialised, too crowded and too expensive.

We found one with Cunard which had ports which were quite different from most itineraries and really enjoyed it. Not everybody likes the same things or places.

Just noticed after I posted that this is a 3-year old thread! So the OP probably already went on the trip...

Probably, but milolii revived it a few weeks ago, having the same inquiry. Most likely not enough time to have sailed unless it was a truly last-minute booking!
