My husband and his parents just got off of the triumph for our 5 day cruise to Cozumel and Progresso. I’m not very good at writing reviews but I am going to share what we thought and if you have any questions please ask.

First and foremost none of us were impressed with the food on this ship. This was my husband and i’s first cruise and everyone said the food was great but we struggled to find something that was edible. We ate a lot of burgers and burritos because the buffet never had anything we liked. We are simple southern people with a wide variety pallet and didn’t like most of the food.

The bars on the other hand were great!!!

Go to the Lido deck and see my two favorite bar tenders who knew my drink and had it ready when they saw me get off the elevator. Aryana and Yudhi are the best bar tenders and I hope I can find more great people like them.

The coffee bar was my morning hang out on the 5th floor because the coffee is great and it’s nice and quiet to do their daily puzzles and drink my coffee in peace. Florin can make a mean caramel latte!!!!

And now that I have covered drinking, yes we did get the CHEERS!!! And honestly I don’t know how people cruise without it! You don’t have to constantly worry about how much you are paying for drinks and how much your tab is up to because it is all paid for ahead of time! We like to have fun and drank on average 12/15 of our alcoholic drinks a day. We are normal drinkers and it was hard for us to hit 15 a day. Plus my coffee from the coffee bar was included also my husbands soda. So worth the money!!!!

We had an interior room and it was nice. All we did was sleep and shower there so we didn’t mind the size. Loved how dark it got when we went to bed. The beds were decent and clean. Our room steward was so sweet and such a good guy. His name was Blessing. My in laws had a balcony room and never spent any time on the balcony so they won’t splurge on that again.

We played the casino and arcade to have fun and I actually won a little bit. We took part in the build a bear activity to bring home to my son. That was a great thing for the kids. They are cheaper than the store I think and they had carnival exclusive clothes for them.

Ok the ports!!!!!!

Cozumel wasn’t bad at all. Loved walking and shopping and sitting on the beach. Remember if one of the shop owners are yelling free items, it’s just to get you in to buy something. We didn’t do any excursions so don’t know about those but we took 4 hours and got back on the boat.

Progresso shows you a little more authentic Mexican living. Right at the tax and duty free shopping building isn’t bad at all but if you take the bus up the road to town like many of us did you will find authentic Mexican places. They had two flea markets set up for shopping and then the bus took us back. Probably a one time for our family.

I got the internet package to keep up with news from my son and let me tell you they really mean limited for the $5/day package. It worked for Facebook messenger but not much else.

Please if you have a question I will do my best to answer it!!!!

Did y'all try the Dining Room in the evenings instead of the buffet? Wife and I never do the buffet but do enjoy the Dining Room. Also, if you get something you don't like in the Dining Room just order something else and if ya find something ya do like, you can order as much as you want. I always start off every evening with 3 shrimp cocktails. :)

We did try the dining room the last couple nights but we were assigned late dining and missed a lot of shows because of the dining room late dining. My husband loves the shrimp cocktail.

Glad you had a great time! The Triumph was our first cruise and we got hooked. :) First cruise we never touched the buffet. We had seaday brunch for breakfast, or a burrito from the Blue Iguana and had burgers or tacos every day for lunch. Main dining room for all dinners.

Since then, we have tried the buffet- never LOVE anything, but can always find something to fill us up. But I still highly recommend the seaday brunch. The steak and eggs are wonderful.

We missed so much on our first one too. It's just a lot to take in. We had our kids with us on our first cruise, the second was just me and DH - totally different experience. Third we took kids and grandparents. Fourth was back to the Triumph with our kids and it was kind of funny how well they knew their way around the ship and what they wanted to do, etc. They LOVE cruising.

I wasn't too happy with MDR at ALL either. Everything else was fine though. Hung out at the casino/bar area because there was a great band playing. But that was it.

Thanks for the review. How did you find the internet performance on the ship?

I got the smallest internet pack and it loaded Facebook messenger but it was slow. Took a long time to load Snapchat but if you weren’t in an emergency I guess would be ok

We are sailing on the Triumph the last week of March (62 days and counting), with that same itinerary. Thanks for the review. Does the Triumph have the 24 hour pizza place? If so was it good? This will be our second cruse, our first was last year on the Magic. I'm looking forward to cruising.

It does have the pizza place but my family didn’t care for it to much. They have some crazy combo pizzas. The only normal was cheese and pepperoni. It was a great ship for my first. But I would like to move on to a newer ship.

I've been on almost every Carnival ship that sails out of New Orleans (my home port). For each one I research what is offered onboard and plan my vacation from that info. Usually a cruise vacation for me is not about the ports visited, but about relaxation. I've been to every port offered in the Western Caribbean. Some I have no wish to visit again. So, I am happy just being aboard ship, relaxing on deck, getting great sleep in my inside cabin, and eating/drinking to my content for 5 days. Being that New Orleans is my home port and I live across the river, Its easy to grab a quick vacay when I need one.

Hello - I have a question about Progreso area. Wondering if when you get off the ship and onto the buses into town are they handicap accessible? Wondering if they are big tour buses or smaller buses? We just want to go into town and maybe walk around a little bit, but just not sure how easy this would be for my husband to do. Can't seem to find my information on this port area at all :(

Also wondering. We are cruising with my daughter, who is a wheelchair user, in April. Thanks for the info!

I didn’t see anyone with a chair getting on the bus but they are older buses. I’m not 100% sure about getting on them. They are in my opinion kind of sketchy.
