Early on in the cruise I was persuaded by a casino employee to keep my cruisecard inserted in the slot machines while playing to avail of their promotions. Up 'til then, the only promotions I was aware of were to enter draws in the evening which I wasn't really interested in (though I did win a €20 voucher one night on a previous cruise) so I had been disinclined to bother. However, with his urging, I decided to just go along with it. Later in the week, while playing the slots, the same employee came by and noticed that, although my card was inserted, the machine wasn't reading it, so he removed and re-inserted it for me. At this point I decided to ask exactly what the "promotion" was. He said he'd have to check and would come back with the info. A while later, he returned with the news that I had qualified for a 30% discount off my next cruise plus OBC, the amount to be determined on the last night of the cruise. I've been assured by the clubcard rep that this discount will be added to the 5% I already qualify for.

At the Black Card event, I enquired about this new promotion in the casino. Apparently, MSC have introduced a new casino loyalty scheme (info is a bit sketchy) and, I've been told, I'm a VIP member. Don't know if this relates to my clubcard level, but I was constantly being referred to as a VIP by the crew for having a Black card. (I even received some very welcome attention from the maitre D' onboard!)

Anyone else come across anything like this?

Something else new to me was the ability to book a future cruise onboard. Unfortunately the system was down when I tried to book one so I'm now waiting patiently for my TA to get back to me with info on an itinerary I'm interested in. According to the T&Cs for the 30% discount I have 2 months to book and must sail within the next 9 months, so I'd better get cracking!

Thanks, Chuck. I have to say I was taken aback when Jonathan (the casino employee) came back to me with it. I feel like MSC are returning a little of what they've taken from me over the years LOL!

I'd love some definitive info on the new scheme, though, so it could be a little more transparent. All I know at the moment is that it is to be a casino loyalty reward programme similar to the Voyagers' Club - at least that's what I was told.

Staying tuned for updates. I always play the slots with my CC in the slot. Would like some sort of good returns.

Mike ............... no mention of discounts off future cruises, though? Or if points are accumulated from each cruise - like Voyager Club points? In my case, I was told I had gained the discount based on that cruise play alone. If so, I'll happily play at the rate I do as the gain certainly outweighed the losses. I'd just like to see a benefits chart - how points are awarded and what they convert to, as in Voyagers' Club.

you may be eligible for complimentary drinks, dinners in the specialty restaurant and other amenities based on your play. You will also be included in the daily events and some random virtual drawing for some exciting casino prizes, including some casino free play.

Had I not asked the casino employee about the promotion he'd mentioned, I don't know how MSC intended to inform me of my entitlement as I had to chase up the voucher on the last evening. In other words, I had no knowledge of the new set-up and would have remained ignorant were it not for the fact that I interact with the crew/staff!

Bea,,,I had no idea of this new program at all until you had posted the information about your latest casino encounter, so I did some research and found the new casino perks program. I mentioned this concept in a chat with MSC last year but it was only an idea at the time.

I have to believe however, that MSC only tracks your play for the one sailing and not long term though. It would be a good idea to link your play with your Voyagers Club membership,,but not everyone who sails MSC is a member of the loyalty club.

From what I could glean at the Black event, MSC are planning on introducing a casino loyalty programme and this is just the early stages of the development. I'm hoping others will post their experiences on here so we can build up a picture of what to expect. Otherwise, it's all a bit vague.

Sounds as if MSC is keeping this program a little hush hush for now. I haven't looked at any of the dailies from recent sailings to see if there is any mention of it there, and there certainly isn't any signage in the casino mentioning the program either. I went to MSCCrociere.it and MSCCruises.co.uk and didn't find the program listed anywhere on their sites,,I've managed to only find it on the USA website so I'm not sure how widespread or which ships,,or which itineraries are offering the program??:confused:

I won't be back onboard an MSC ship 'til October, but I intend to head straight to the casino to find out what the promotions will be for that sailing, that's for sure! Complimentary drinks and dinners in the Specialty restaurants aren't of interest to me as I always have a drinks package and both DH and I are at Black so receive 2 specialty visits anyway.

Keep us posted Bea!!! I have a friend sailing MSC Divina on Saturday so I'll ask her to inquire about the program while she's onboard as well.

  • 1 year later...
I just booked a cruise using the 30% off casino certificate. They would not give me my 5% off voyagers club discount on this rate. I was wondering if anyone was told the same thing?

I've used 3 vouchers to date and have received the 5% Voyagers Club discount in all cases.

Is there anywhere that lists the info on these promotions now, it it only listed onboard in the casino?

No lists anywhere, CF and asking for info from some of the casino managers, you'd swear you were asking them to give up State secrets!

How I discovered the 1200 points = 30% discount voucher was by chance. One of the casino staff was always at me to put my cruisecard in the machine while playing so I eventually relented. One evening, he came over to me and noticed that the machine wasn't reading my card so he removed it and inserted it again. While he was at it, I asked him if it was really worth it and what was it worth. He went off and came back and told me I'd qualified for the voucher. For a couple of cruises after that, I couldn't get a straight, definitive answer as to how to qualify. Eventually, on one particular ship, the manager explained how many points were needed for the voucher and also how many to qualify for a free cruise. I don't have that info to hand but I did post it on the forum before.

There are also silly little "gifts" you can cash your points in for e.g. keyrings and aprons come to mind. This information is on the machines. Also, 500 points can be redeemed for €/$5 free play. However, if you redeem the points, you start out again at 0 points. I learned that last week on Magnifica. Before that cruise, I was able to get the €10 free play and still use the same 1000 points towards the voucher.

What if you play at the tables and not the machines?

Sent from my iPad using Forums

According to their website you just hand your card to the dealer and they will take care of it for you

Do I receive a players card to earn rewards?

Your Cruise Card is also your players card in the Casino. When you play the slot machines, you insert your card in the machine and leave it in, for the table games you need to hand in your card to the Casino Dealer for all your sessions of play and they will log you on.
