Hello, Am looking at a cruise on the Royal. I usually do the Carribe deck on the older ships (or sometimes aft if at a good price) but I understand they are not larger on this ship. Can anyone give me guidance as to which are better (or which are worse)?

They're basically all the same. There's some larger balconies on the angled areas under Seaview and Seawalk. Some larger than standard with aft facing cabins. Some of the obstructed view cabins have exceptionally large balconies - forward facing and all the way forward on Emerald (these are deluxe balcony cabins).

Otherwise - the balconies are all the same size. The sides are not tiered like Grand class, which is what gives the larger balconies as you step down the sides.. The sides of Royal class ships are straight down - pretty much all balconies are fully covered, and all the same size, regardless of cabin size (referring to depth. Width varies if in suite or lower category).

Look at rhe deckplans - they do show some of the larger balconies..

Enjoy, the ship is beautiful..

Mid ship Emerald deck are the best value. For little more than an inside you can get a "caribe" sized balcony. Look at E425.

Yes, this ^. We were in E417--great location, nice view over the 'promenade" such as it is. E425 has an larger balcony. Look on the other side of the ship too--the evn numbers in same location.

Good luck

Just be careful to look at where your cabin would be in regards to deck 7. Some staterooms I would not like to be in, but then I am a very light sleeper.

I have been on Regal and/or Royal 5 times midship deck 8. Thanks to Renmar's (Theo's) extensive research.

Never experienced noise from below or elevators. But then again I enjoy hanging in the casino or Bellini's in the evenings.

I am suddenly very excited about the cruise I booked today aboard the Regal for January next year.

Thanks! Pardon my typo in the subject header.

Personally, our favorites are E101-110 . Deluxe balcony category - larger than regular balcony cabins with loveseat sofa seating area, and huge balconies - considered obstructed view because they have metal railings versus the see through glass. Matters little when sitting on the balcony and the huge size more than makes up for it - to us.

Aft facing balconies and forward facing all have deeper than standard, again though, some have metal railings, making then obstructed view..

Depends on what's important to you.

Agree! Just got off the Caribbean Princess in an aft suite. It was a struggle for my 84 year old mom. She will be happier midship even if it's an inside.
