Flying in to FLL on Fri 16th, leaving out of Port Miami on 17th on Equinox. Trying to figure out whether to stay in Ft Lauderdale area overnight and then shuttle to POM in AM, or whether to stay closer to Miami, and if so, where. The hotel sites have skimpy or non-existent information on ground transposrtation....

Hotels in Fort Lauderdale don't offer ground transportation to POM - it is about a 45 minute ride - so you may prefer to stay in Miami. Do check out the almost daily threads on this board about shuttles, taxis and uber/lyft between Fort Lauderdale and POM to help you decide whether to go with Fort Lauderdale hotel. Regardless of whether you chose to stay in Fort Lauderdale or Miami make a reservation soon. February is high season in south Florida and February 16th is the beginning of a 3 day weekend (Presidents Day) so is usually the busiest weekend in February.

Agree...a little reading down the board will find dozens of threads on hotels, shuttles and other transport.

Most importantly will be the comments that the later in the day you arrive at FLL, the harder to arrange and more costly a shuttle will be. Many will recommend you stay in Ft Lauderdale, as it is typically cheaper, and go direct to the port the next day. However, if you continue with your plans to stay in Miami, Uber/Lyft become your better choices.

www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area tourist and hotel info.

If you choose to stay in downtown Miami, close to POM, an UberX (good for 2-3 plus bags) from FLL should cost about $35. A taxi on the same run will be closer to $70

If you stay in the FLL area there are many shared shuttle services (SAS, QLS, etc.) with fares starting at about $15 per person - check their web sites to see who picks up at your hotel saving you a trip back to the airport just to catch a shuttle (or use Uber from your hotel).

Decided to split the difference, staying at Doubletree Hollywood Beach, lookis like roughly equal distance between the 2. When creepy looking Days Inns are charging over 200, I'd rather spend 50 bucks more and take (hopefully) less chances on beg bugs and otner forms of pestilence . . . .
