Whimsy88 Posted October 11, 2017 #26 Share Posted October 11, 2017 We've done our past 4 cruises with passport cards, no issues. Western and Eastern Caribbean, all on Carnival. 2 adults, 3 kids. Husband and I and the 2 older boys all have passports. I booked our upcoming cruise for husband and I, and used the passport card as ID. We will bring our passports just in case, and keep them in the safe on board, and I'll tuck a photocopy of the passports with the cards in my beach bag when we go ashore (because I'm a worrier by nature and always go with the "just in case" philosophy)! elcuchio24 Posted October 11, 2017 #27 Share Posted October 11, 2017 You cant fly with a card. Its to be used for land crossings for Mexico and Canada. And, obviously, can be used to board a cruse for sea travel where indicated. BUT, if you cant fly with it if you need to, you might as well just carry on your birth certificate and spare yourself the expense. We always carry the books. SadieN Posted October 11, 2017 #28 Share Posted October 11, 2017 They will share the expiration date if they were issued at the same time but each will have their own number. DD’s has the same number when issued last year. Thought it was odd also when I saw the numbers were the same.

Rare broberts Posted October 12, 2017 #31 Share Posted October 12, 2017 I do not believe than any cruise line can deny a passenger use of a valid, non-expired passport card for a cruise embarking and disembarking in the USA. Cruise lines can and do deny boarding to passengers when they are not satisfied with travel documentation being presented at check-in. It does not matter that the documentation may be correct and would satisfy various countries being visited. If the documentation does not meet the cruise line's requirements, boarding will be denied. Not looking for a debate about book vs card, though it will happen. Does anyone have any experience with Carnival and using a passport card? Book was lost, but have the card and just curious as to any experience people have had. As we all know, calling Carnival can produce different responses, that is why I am seeking actual experiences. Carnival has a pretty comprehensive description of the travel documentation it will accept, https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3409.
