koalapanda Posted November 25, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2017 From time to time there ard posts with regards to guests age. What do you think about Seabournians in relation to age and sociability? IMHO 70 and 80 years young are the new 50 and 60 in most cases. We are slightly wonky from wear and tear. This only makes us keep fit, we are fun, fabulous in our own skin and great company due to our experience of life. Travel is a great leveller, it is a privelage to be older and proud of it , wobbly bits and all. Let us have some fun with this topic , we can take it. SLSD Posted November 25, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2017 We are 66 and 65 and considered ourselves to be on the younger end of the spectrum of passengers on our cruise. We enjoyed everyone we met onboard and our best cruise friends were in their early 70s.
koalapanda Posted November 25, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted November 25, 2017 (edited) SHELLBACK2014 this speedy Septogenerian's digit slipped. I have requested one post be removed. You could call it a Wrinkly hiccup.;) No Old Timer's yet I managed to remember to book my next Seabourn Cruise on the last day of the Sale. No shoes in the fridge ....yet. I am sure there are some very funny old timer/ er that is momentary memory loss stories out there. Edited November 25, 2017 by koalapanda
Shellback2014 Posted November 25, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2017 We, fellow septuagenarians, find it flattering when we return to our suite after the late show, to find our stewardess has turned the lights down low, put soft music on the TV, and festooned the bed with rose petals. :D
koalapanda Posted November 26, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted November 26, 2017 I understand your delight completely. Remember that lovely song, Memories ....mmm DH an Octogenarian thinks is great that he can jump into the bed unaided and let the petals flutter. The real story is ; in the dim light he tripped on the case protruding from under the bed and landed on top of the Duvet.
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 26, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 26, 2017 On our second Seabourn Cruise we met a delightful couple who were celebrating a special anniversary. They were around 90. They must have dance to every dance. Age doesn't mean a whole lot. I have met people 80 or 90 with more enthusiasm and stamina then people half their ages. Where I teach indoor cycle I have some students 80+ and I tell them they are my role models because they are. Keith
koalapanda Posted November 26, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted November 26, 2017 (edited) You are correct Keith, age does not mean a lot. There are many inspiring wrinklies and you meet and enjoy their company on every Seabourn cruise. I just love meeting folk of any age and sharing their stories. Generally we socialise mostly with folk younger than ourselves it keeps us very busy. Mind you we are more tech' savy and exercise more. However I have a problem with my Octogenarian Panda he will not dance with me. He calls it pushing a refridgerator around the floor. Naughty boy , our dancing has a generational differences. koalapanda Posted November 26, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted November 26, 2017 Definitely, Wipro great point. Some of the sweetest golden wines come from very wrinkly grapes. Then again grapes ripe and fresh are delicious.

SLSD Posted November 27, 2017 #12 Share Posted November 27, 2017 We enjoyed getting to know passengers of all ages on our recent cruise. One of our favorite couples included a man who is a WWII veteran. He and his wife were very charming--and it was fun to see them sitting in a cafe at several ports. He was not able to take an excursion or walk very fare, but they enjoyed a glass of wine in several pretty cafes and would wave at us as we walked by. A good cruise memory. I am looking forward to more!
